Voted Mutu, started so promising. Just a real shame he enjoyed a nose beer on the weekends.

Agreed, not really a bad signing from a football point of view, just a personal one.

Mutu didn't really flop. His record from his first season was 10 goals in 36 games, so a goals every 3 and a half matches which while not great is about on par for Zola's scoring record at Chelsea (very different players granted).

It was more being a chang head that he gets mentioned.

Shevchenko's overall scoring record was just slightly worse than a goal every 3 games but in the league his record, where it mattered most, was much worse.

I'd probably have to go with Torres. He was given the most time and chances out of anyone and not once did he ever look like living up to being a prolific player. He was a goal scorer and had nothing else to his game (much like Costa) so when he wasn't scoring goals he just looked useless and would just loiter on that left flank not doing much of anything.

I think people are giving short shrift as to how poor Kezman was.  Did he ever score a goal from more than 5 yards from goal?  Did he ever have a header goal?  I cannot remember one.

Anyone who voted for Morata, please PM me so we can have words.

Haha we had half a good season out of Morata. Which is half a season more than the rest!

Reading that list has just irritated me. So many unhappy memories. For karma purposes I'm typing

Osgood

Dixon

Costa

Hasselbaink

Drogba

Zola

Loved Flo and Eidur as well

Torres for Barca and the Europa League. Otherwise Torres was one of the most frustrating players we’ve had behind Morata. Both paralleled each other, really girly players! Glad we at least had Diego in between them

Can't decide between Torres and Morata, Torres was physically affected and Morata mentally. If Morata toughened up and stopped sulking and running off to somewhere comfortable whenever it gets tough he can still become a top striker worthy of the money we paid for him.

Torres was both psychologically and physically affected. He still tried and occasionally it came off and then he was used as an improvised winger for a while.

Has to be Torres.

Never, if only for the Gary Neville commentary on the Barca goal, or winning the corner just before Drog equalised in Munich

Harsh to call Mutu a flop as he looked really good early and then we all know what happened next.

Out of that list though flip a coin between Sheva and Torres.  Such a shame about Sheva, he should have banged in the goals for fun when he joined us.  When we signed him and Ballack and then Ashley Cole I was so pumped.  On paper that transfer period was on par with getting Cesc, Costa and Filipe Luis.  In both windows only two out of the three went on to so well.

Sheva for me. Scored some stunners. The goal against Spuds sticks in my mind.

I actually think he was alright and these days would be considered a good signing. It's just that his signing coincided with Drogba finally coming into his own which meant he didn't play as regularly. I don't remembering him missing sitters like Morata or Torres.

9 league goals in 47 games for a price that would be £140m today, and we didnt get any fee for him and subsidised his wages while he went on loan. Cant call that a good signing.

He didnt miss too many sitters, mainly because his legs had gone and he didnt get many chances.

Scored a cracker against villa in the 4-4, aswell as that screamer against spurs in the league cup.

The competition did seem to propel drogba to new levels though.
