Frank and Jody have something going on so why change? JT is learning his trade at Villa and has the opportunity to work on the managerial side of things at Premier League level for at least another year. There's something to be said for gaining experience before moving up the ladder. JT will probably want to be a No1 at some point.

June 25, 20197 yr Wasn't really for Bringing Frank in initially, my head was telling me he's not got the experience he'll tarnish his Chelsea legacy, but now I don't give a flying fudge I'm well excited for the return of Super Frank! In fact bring along Makalele and the Drog for the ride. Come on Chelsea!
June 25, 20197 yr Derby giving us permission to speak to Frank makes us excited. Imagine how we will react when he's announced as our next manager.

You're right about the media but I'm not convinced about the others either. If come Jan/Feb the club are languishing well outside the top 6 and out of the cups and not going through in the CL there will be some voices of discontent among the younger fans. The poll indicates that most fans think 8th is the lowest Chelsea will finish with many thinking top 4 a real possibility. I totally agree we all need to back Frank to the hilt and I for one will give him my full support but what about if some of the players don't like him? What if one or two think he's getting above his station and decide not to work so hard. Will he know how to deal with this type of issue? I don't think he had any such problems at Derby but at a higher level he may find things a little trickier. I'm not saying this is going to happen but we all need to be mindful of the pitfalls before we giddy off to the Champions League Final. When Frank was first mentioned for the job I thought it was just a media flurry that would blow over and it was too early for him. When it became more of a possibility I considered it in a more positive light and thought maybe. As the media speculation grew so did my excitement but the reality is that if Frank lives up to he hopes of many Chelsea fans he will have worked a miracle. Given we have lost our best player, the transfer ban and that Frank is extremely inexperienced I would hope the board have fully considered what they are proposing here and will also cut him some slack. Two seasons absolute minimum if things are going down the pan and longer if there are promising signs. He needs to be given the funds in next summers transfer window to buy some real quality and get us challenging for the top again. There's going to be a war chest and he should be given the keys.

The only bad point to Lampard as manager working in the long run is Terry won't be back for a very long time. Although that said I'm not convinced he is destined to be a top manager, I think a number two to a tactical manager is the perfect role for him, ironically he would have probably been a perfect number 2 for Sarri.

It might not seem it but this would be a very small price to pay. The chances of Frank becoming the next SAF are negligible. JT will be around for decades anyway.

June 25, 20197 yr Frank is smart, will command respect, and knows Chelsea and the Premier League. He has an ally in Cech. He'll have someone who knows the youth in Morris. What he doesn't have is more experience managing his staff, players, a big club, and the tactical feel of how to set up a team or change things when it's not going well. Those management things are going to be on the job training him. And we traditionally are not the right environment for on the job training. The Cech & Lampard moves (with the transfer ban) signal a change in philosophy and expectation from Roman. That same change in expectation is needed from the supporters. We need to help create the supportive environment for Lampard to figure it out. There are going to be times he gets it wrong. We have to expect that, and we have to allow for the fact that it will be part of his development as a manager. It's important to remember that his playing career and his managerial career are totally different entities. The first year may be a bit rocky. But the 2nd year, with us able to buy again, with the manager having another year of experience, with the youth players having some time, with Hazard's money to spend, that should be the real beginning. June 25, 20197 yr Reports from Germany are saying Ballack will be part of Lampard’s coaching team. Noice.

June 25, 20197 yr Lampard, Morris, Cech, Makelele, Ballack all back at the club over one summer really would be something else. All winners and all proper Chelsea which is really encouraging.
June 25, 20197 yr We may not have a very highly rated team next season, but our new management team looks 2nd to none for pedigree.

Nobody in that team can say sh!t to Frank. For one he's known most of them personally for years so I'm sure there's already respect there. Secondly he puts them all to shame in terms of talent level and on field achievements so if they don't respect him then who in god's name will they respect? He's got his badges, he's got more trophies than you can count on your hands and he's arguably the greatest player the club has ever had, I pray someone steps out of line and tries to take him on asap, they won't be around much longer. And we may indeed have to suffer through a really bad season to get to the point where we can move forward. On the positive side, I have a relative calmness for this time of year, because I don't have to read the ridiculous daily stories linking us to every available Tom, Dick, or Sven. And with Cech back and rumored Lampard team taking over, what appears to be a new & different direction. There are reasons to be optimistic in the face of apparent negativity. 21 hours ago, chi blue said: Frank in charge, potential of some Chelsea youngsters getting a chance, for me a lot to look forward to, beats that bullsh*t Sarriball and Higuain up front. Feels like breath of fresh air compared to the last two seasons where we had two managers that stunk the place out. Can't get optimistic about Frank in charge I'm afraid, I think we're robbing him of his managerial development giving him an offer he can't refuse. No doubt the players would love it, but as soon as things turn sour what then? We've seen it time and time before but Frank lacks the experience compared to all the other managers, even AVB.
