Anyone see Jody Morris tweet in response to Jose’s comments? Not sure it’s wise right before City away. Plus our record in big games hasn’t been brilliant. Jose is somewhat right.

Loved the Jody tweet. We playing beautiful football atm, why does Mourinho need to be pessimistic about our team. Instead he ought to congratulate Lampard and Jody. Dare i say if Mourinho was in charge with THIS team we would be bottom half of the league struggling, boring football.

It's a bit childish from Morris. The kind of thing you might expect a young player to do - not someone in their 40s.

Mourinho has a point... These bigger teams make the chances count. A draw or a win against man city will be a very big result.

Yeah it wasn’t professional on Jody’s part.

However Jose is probably hating the fact that Lampard is doing the business here, and could well be more loved by the fans than Jose himself, and he’s struggling to land a top job.

I mean, he used to use his arrogance in swagger, to win over people with his charm but nowadays his arrogance isn’t justified anymore and he just comes across as a really negative and moody guy.

It is sad to see how far he has fallen.

I did and I loved it. 120% back Jody. (His insta story was actually even better) Jose as usual since he’s left loves a wee pot shot at Chelsea. Mourinho done his best to waste young talent at Chelsea. Does anyone remember the ‘if Brown, Baker aren’t internationals. I’ve failed in my job.’ Well he failed because he totally ruined them, he’s a shocking judge of young talent and it’s no surprise there’s bad feelings between him and Jody.

Our record hasn’t been brilliant, but what about the performances? There’s not one of the games between 2x United & 2x Liverpool where I felt we were massively deserving of defeat. This is a team that is the youngest we’ve fielded in the PL, if we were beating all the big teams as well we’d win the league. These things take time. It’s easier for Jose to point the finger when if there was any issues in the squad he’s just get the chequebook out and sign someone, but as his signings at United show, he’s not even very good at that anymore. It’s about time we had people at the club backing the club.

Anyone kidding themselves on that Jose Mourinho is a ‘chelsea man’ is living in cloud cuckoo land. Jose is and always will be a ‘Jose Mourinho man’. His “dream job” was the United job which he’d even stated.

Jose nose will be out of joint because there’s a massive feel good factor around the club and it’s focused on Lampard, Morris and our youth setup which we all know Jose had no interest in developing.

I totally respect what Jose done for us but I’d back Jody over him every day of the week. Jody bleeds blue and has the same feelings for the club we as fans have. That means more than anything Jose done for me.

If Jose was in charge of this team our starting wingers would be Pedro and Willian and we’d be playing Giroud up front and Luiz would still be at CB with Alonso at LB. Probably Barkley starting as well cause you can be confident Mount wouldn’t be anywhere near the first team. That’s the simple truth of it for me.

Jose's not wrong. Particularly when he talks about finding the balance between good football and the pragmatism required in the big games.

No doubt we're doing well, but beyond Liverpool in the Super Cup I haven't seen us really knuckle down and play the kind of football that gets you through those big matches yet.

City is a huge test for us. If we play as open as we have been I could see it ending a little like last year's disaster, particularly on the back of the hiding they got from Liverpool. Be great if we could spring a surprise though.

I think we have just been unlucky in our losses to any of the top sides in the league. I think we just have to stick with how we are playing and the results will come against those teams, the only thing we lack is maybe experience to see those games out but we have an abundance of talent, ambition and drive that will see us through those games eventually.

I also look at where Liverpool and City finished in their first season under Klopp and Guardiola and so far we are better than they ever were under a new manager and a refreshed youthful squad.

I do tend to agree a little with Jose in that we still have something to prove in the big matches. We haven’t beaten a top team yet so there is work still to be done.

We’re on the right lines though.

We haven't beaten them but we also weren't outplayed in them, so I'm not sure where he's coming from. We are behind Liverpool and City in development quite significantly, yet we were arguably the better side in both games against Liverpool who are currently the best team in England and one of the best in Europe. We beat ajax away, one of the top teams in Europe, the only worrying games are ajax at home, but we fought back in that, utd away which was a freak result and I'm not sure we can call the carling Cup game a big game.

Twitter, twatter, tweeting, facebook. What a complete load of f**king bollocks. Who actually gives a f**k when some pathetic sad retard d rated celeb last had a dump.

People are criticising Mourinho but I see it as him trying to hint to Lampard that he might want to take a more safety first approach in some of these bigger games or risk being beaten.

That's his way of managing.

Does he really feel envious of Lampard...? Wasn't Lampard Mourinho's 'golden boy' at Chelsea, so to speak. I can't recall him ever speaking more highly of a Chelsea player than Lampard while here. In sure he has a lot of good will towards Lampard still.

Yeah, he's arrogant and self-centred but he's not completely without virtue in his character... Last season be was on a broadcast sitting side by side with Arsene Wenger, being very gracious and respectful, even humbling himself a few times and treating him with a lot of honour.

Yeah... Not quite how I'd put it but most of it's just pointless nonsense. Good for the occasional laugh or a relevant message once in a while but people are way too involved in these things imo.

He was always complimentary and gracious when it came to us as a club until we started beating him and winning titles at his expense.

He was available this summer and we gave the job to his ex player who's never managed a top flight game at that point, there's absolutely no way that didn't go down like a lead balloon.

In fairness I think he was quite fair in his assesment the other day, but his comments on Mason Mount and on us not being a big club anymore were clear pot shots at Lamps and If he gets the Arsenal job he's only going to get worse.

I think you're doing him too little credit and buying into this media stereotype of him. I think half of the time he is playing a character in the press and on TV.

Still our greatest ever manager and his advice on these things should always be welcomed.

I'm not buying into the media hype, I'm saying it how I see it.

He couldn't cope with his jealously when we won the league under Conte and he's not exactly sounding enthusiastic for Lamps when he speaks. Can you see him taking it lying down if Lampard beats one of his side's and/or looks like he may eclipse Mourinho's haul of trophy's at the club?

Compare how Jose talks about Lampard managing Chelsea to how Fergie talks about Ole managing United and the difference is night and day.

Lampard has nothing to learn off Jose, not anymore. Jose is yesterday's man. He's a dinosaur. We're playing open, expansive football full of young kids. It's as far removed from a Jose team as can possibly be. Frank needs to ignore everything he says. If Jose had his way all our kids would be out on loan and we'd be parking the bus and lumping it long for Giroud. He's got a nerve offering us advice, and let's be clear, nothing would make him happier than seeing Chelsea trounced.

It’s all a waste of time and life.

Jose is best off as a pundit now. Remember when he threw his toys out the pram at Redknapp and Neville’s remarks when he was managing us. Morris’s reaction was more subtle than his was.

Look at Jose's record against Pep, it tells you all you need to know really.

I still kind of agree with what Jose is saying, we lack the clinical edge in these big games, we haven't been outplayed by United or Liverpool, but we missed sitter after sitter, and they were clinical.

We don't need to show City too much respect, I think bringing Kante in for Mount would be enough and that's it, even start with James on the right again. We aren't going to beat City by being pragmatic, but if we do beat them, we need to be clinical, I'm sick of how many chances we seem to squander, particularly in the big games.

In fairness Redknapp did nothing but talk nonsense, he was particularly anti Chelsea and would always launch a vendetta against this club whenever something controversial went our way. Look at the way he behaved on the "Diego Costa Crimes" incident.

I liked it when Mourinho called him out, bloke is a nob head, funny how he seems to love us now though because Frank is here.

Key difference is that was a guy in Redknapp with zero experience as a manager speaking on one of the best managers in the game achievement wise.

This now is that said manager speaking on a young inexperienced manager who has made a fantastic start but has yet to achieve the tiniest fraction of what's been achieved by him.
