England for a long time has had a problem with fans putting club loyalties above the bigger picture. Sad though if he is feeling driven by our own perceived fans, it is very hard to ignore social media platforms for younger players even though they probably know the places are cesspits.

When I was watching the France game an Arsenal fan I was with refused to celebrate the goal because it was scored by Kane 🤣

He's getting a pay raise? Just not the amount he wants.

That being said, I think the issue at hand is the length of the contract, not the actual amount.

Think the amount is the issue, though I reckon if he leaves his PR team would argue the contract length was an issue. There is no difference between signing a 5yr or a 7yr deal, a player can turn around and demand a move the next summer.

Liverpool have a strict wage structure in place, so they aren’t going to meet his demand. He is also an option with Bellingham priority.

You're reading way too much into it and using it as a way to avoid speaking about the larger issue within the body of work, which is the fans possibly forcing out one of our best players through personal dislike.

Enzo has been good, i agree. Works his arse off every game, still doesn't change the fact he has no long standing affinity with the club.

I've spoken about the Mount issue multiple times. There was and still is some awful agendas against him which I've been the first to defend him from, I also feel it's gone a bit the other way to the point even constructive criticism gets passed off as such aswell which I don't like, the two should be separate entity's.

If I'm honest if social media trolls are what's swinging Mount's decision to leave I'm a little disappointed. Hazard, Drogs, Cesc and Costa got booed by the home crowd (something Mount's never in any remote danger of receiving) and all of them used it as motivational tool to improve further.

The Athletic reported its an issue with the length of the deal. Amidst all the speculation I'll believe the most reputable source above anything else.

Much has been made of what Mount is demanding and, while suggestions he has asked for £300,000 a week are wide of the mark, he has rejected offers made by the club. Yet it is too simplistic to say the weekly wage is behind the impasse. There are other things at stake, from image rights to bonuses and the length of contract. Mount is reluctant to sign a deal that stretches beyond five years. The owners want him to commit to six to eight years, following the lead of James, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja and several of the club’s recent signings.

There is still time for a breakthrough. This, after all, is a negotiation. But Mount’s bargaining position is not as strong as he would have hoped given the 24-year-old has lurched into his worst stretch of form since breaking through into the senior set-up in 2019-20.

Mason Mount will either renew his contract at #CFC this summer or be sold to avoid entering the final year of his current deal.@David_Ornstein details the latest – including Liverpool's interest in the player…

Imagine if ended up in a Liverpool shirt. It would be heartbreaking

If he does leave, I hope he goes to another league. Could never imagine someone like Lampard playing for our rivals.

Mount's bad luck that his contract negotiation is coming at a time when the new hierarchy don't necessarily see him as indispensible, like they did with James.

Of course he's not exactly helping himself with his current level of performance, albeit he's not any worse than many others in that regard.

Mason won't be the first player of the year for the previous two seasons who falls out of favour - I'm still sore about Mourinho binning off Juan Mata LOL

Mata did decline a lot after he went to United, though im sure having to reunite with Mourinho played a part 😂

Would hate it if he leaves for another English team in the top 6, he won't be short of offers if drag this any longer. If it's about money, I'm really puzzled.  Just offload a few players we don't need, and move the money around. Replacing him will cost a fortune, don't think this performance based salary will go down well with most players and agents.

Call me crazy & most fans won’t like this but I would release Kante on a free in the summer, save his £250k/w in wages & meet Mount halfway with his contract demands. Not convinced Kante can even stay injury free for the remainder of this season, and I feel we will be mad to extend his contract till he is 34-35 on those wages. He also isn’t a guaranteed starter for me if we get a solid DM next to Enzo.

His best mate Rice proved the bit in bold to not be true. Same happened with Kane.

The fact Liverpool seems his destination shows that money isn't the sticking point for him. Its more contract length and lack of class from a vocal minority of toxic Chelsea fans.

Amazing how many people on here seem to know the details of the negotiations, how much he wants, how long he wants etc... amazing.

I honestly don't believe it's just about money. I think he wants to know what his role is in the future of the club. With players like Enzo and Felix arriving, Mount probably just wants to make sure he isn't going to be shafted to the bench completely. I predict he will probably sign a contract at the end of the season when things are more stable and we know if the future of the club is with Potter or not.

^^ THIS

Mount is a good player, but he's no Kendry Paez 🙂

Would be wild if he wants out because of some toxic “fans”. Who knows if these are really fans, or just kids hiding behind a keyboard. He isn’t going to be insulated against it by moving to Liverpool. Nunez has also been getting stick online. He can always pay a social media team to handle his online profile, and stay away from the internet.
