Mason Mount

Would be wild if he wants out because of some toxic “fans”. Who knows if these are really fans, or just kids hiding behind a keyboard. He isn’t going to be insulated against it by moving to Liverpool. Nunez has also been getting stick online. He can always pay a social media team to handle his online profile, and stay away from the internet.

I was about to say that this is total non-sense. Imagine how Liverpool fans would react if they weren`t pleased with his performances. The example you brought up, Nunez, is also very telling. He got a lot of abuse just because he had a few bad first games. Players of all top-clubs get abused. It`s just the unfortunate reality.

I have always liked Mount as a player.
He won’t be hanging about if he isn’t integral to the manager’s plans though and when you look at the players we’ve signed, I don’t see him as a nailed on starter next season.

If we sign a number 9 then I don’t see where he plays in any system and with FFP that number 9 will have to be paid for. Same if we sign Felix.
Mount even with a year left on his contract will still bring in a big fee.

Maybe best all round if he moves on.

Nunez got abused by opposition fans, Liverpool fans backed him and trusted their recruitment teams. Credit to Liverpool, they actually back their players. Look at Trent, was dogsh*t for 6 months and still had every Liverpool fan backing him and having patience.

Compare that to some of the absolute whoppers abusing Mount and co and claiming to be Chelsea fans.

It’s still a “tiny” minority giving him sh*t, and it happens to every sportsperson. It is literally an hazard of the job, and why they are paid so much. No one has crossed the line and given him abuse like Utd fans gave Phil Jones while out with his kids, or Sol Campbell still getting crap from Spurs fans wishing him dead in their stadium this season. I don’t think it’s a reason to leave the club.

Jacob Steinberg reporting Mount has attracted interest from both United and Liverpool. There is a belief he could be available for £50m. The latest contract offer from Chelsea was worth around £180Kpw.

How is he cheaper than Cucurella ?

Exactly what I was gonna say.

Have always liked Mount since I watched him in the youth team and you could see that he had something about him. Great when he went to Derby under Lamps and then came back and proved himself and became a very important player.

But his form and consistency has dipped and I'm not sure where he sometimes fits in when everyone is fit and available. Handy squad player but not at £200k per week and if I'm honest, I would rather keep Gallagher than Mount, so maybe as you say, might be right for him to move on.

It does seem to be heading to him leaving. Be interested to see how involved he is for the rest of the season.

Similar players Mase and Conor are, however Mase has a lot better technique at this stage, Conor more energy.

I would not be surprised if both are sold in the summer, along with Trev.

I don’t think the owners would be crazy enough to sell all three. Aren’t there homegrown rules still to be mindful of? Liverpool for example are a bit thin on that front with Milner & Henderson on their way out, that probably factors in their interest in Mason.

Wouldn't make any sense to sell Trev, he's a more than capable back up to Fofana, and still has room for improvement.

I agree however Potter does not seem to rate him, and Colwill will be back in the summer so my belief is he takes Trevs spot.

Mount has only one year from his contract.

50M pounds is a normal value for him.

You need to take the context.

Cucurella had 4 years left for his contract in Brighton.

Yup.  Sane reason we got sterling for 50 mil last summer

Isn't this just a case of someone needing to work hard on the training ground to earn his place back?

His problem is, imho, that even though he's been playing sh*t he's still been getting picked... but then again you could say that about quite a few of the players 😊

Its not a tiny minority anymore though, look on any post that mentions Mount on Twitter, Insta or Facebook and the comment section is full of 'fans' abusing him and telling Chelsea to terminate his contract etc.

Sure you can argue only idiots use those social media sites or whatever but if Mount's reading them every day it's obviously going to affect him.

Sol Campbell gets sh*t from rival fans after his decision, Mount gets sh*t from his own fans. I've not seen Phil Jones mentioned in years but there were interviews about the affect negative media had on his mental health so that pretty much proves my point on the negative impact on players. Imagine waking up every day and 1000's of people are messaging your employer telling them to terminate your contract because you're a waste of space. This isn't just 'part of the job'.
