October 26, 20196 yr It's not just about conceding those 2 late goals but Burnley created 3 clear scoring opportunities, defensively I dont think we are great but that's without Rudiger and Kante. Going forward we are quakity and this season is one of my most enjoyable for a long time, love watching Mount, his cross for Pulisic was lovely
October 26, 20196 yr Glad to see MOTD giving a fairer assessment of Tammy's Yellow Card than that knob Dyche. All 3 agreed it wasn't a dive and was due to him being shoved in the back by Lowton.
October 26, 20196 yr VAR is a total joke. Was that a clear and obvious error? No. The ref was presumably told he dived and gave a yellow. Absolute farce. Do away with the whole thing. It's mistake after mistake after mistake. Just let the referee and linesmen do their job.
October 26, 20196 yr Dyche going on and on about the ‘dive’. Lamps - “Their bench wanted everything that was happening. Ashley Barnes every time he has a contest in the air he falls to ground to get a free-kick to stick it in the box.”

October 27, 20196 yr Dont care about the 2 conceded. We had defended really well in general and both their goals were flukes. We were superb, that is a hard place to go. Pulisic, Tomori, Alonso, Kova and Jorginho stood out for me. Maybe Sean Dyche should get his own house in order before throwing stones given he has Ashley Barnes in his team.

He was running at pace and got a small push in the back. Whether it was enough for a pen is subjective but no way shape or form a dive. What was clear was Pulisic was fouled before the first Burnley goal. Why did VAR not bring that up on checking the goal?

Pretty shameless given the fact that Ashley Barnes falls to the ground every time he's near the box

No doubt it will be a physical game, but if recent head to head records are anything to go by then we shouldn't be afraid of this fixture. Burnley 1-3 Chelsea = August 18 2014 Burnley 1-1 Chelsea = February 12 2017 Burnley 1-2 Chelsea = April 12 2018 Burnley 0-4 Chelsea = October 28 2018 You got that right mate !

October 27, 20196 yr Good win and it could have been by a few more. Our midfield I thought were very good. Well done all.

October 27, 20196 yr I don't think it was a penalty but VAR should not be reversing decisions unless they are 'clearly and obviously wrong', and that wasn't the case here. There clearly was no contact with Tarkowski (I think CHO had anticipated being tripped by Tarkowski and started to go down, only for Tarkowski to pull his leg away, and this is probably what the VAR panel were focusing on) but Lowton did have a hand on CHO's back. There didn't seem to be much force behind it (if any) but you can't tell for sure from the video, that's impossible. For me this introduces enough uncertainty to argue that the referee's decision was not 'clearly and obviously' wrong. So I think they probably ended up with the right outcome in the end but, according to their own guidelines, there's enough uncertainty that they should not have overruled the referee's decision.
October 27, 20196 yr Perfect performance apart from the last 5, and I don't think the defenders could have done much about their first goal, it was well defended in the circumstances but the shot was too good. I could imagine Pullisic score a goal, but never expected anything like this. For this first goal, it was a barve decision to shoot with defenders converge on him, the safe option was to square it but he's having none of that ? The first two goals were started with aggressive and selective pressing, unlike in the earlier days, when we pressed high, we actually went hard, and I reckon we targeted their not so skillful defenders trying to play out. The midfield retained the ball well, and covered the back four effectively. The CHO yellow card was harsh, I could accept they took the penalty off because the doubt, but there was clear contact, the doubt was whether it was enough to bring him down. There had to be a middle ground between a penalty and a yellow card for diving.
October 27, 20196 yr i missed the second half as I had to go out for dinner but I’m just watching MOTD back. Who the f**k was the video official? That was never a dive by Callum, there looks to be contact on his knee and he’s nudged in the back. Compare that to the penalty Brighton got where Keane accidentally trod on an opponent who was never getting the balls foot. I probably wouldn’t complain if it wasn’t given in the first place but to overturn it is extremely harsh. VAR is fantastic for football, it’s the f**king idiot referees that cause it. October 27, 20196 yr As for Dyche, I used to quite like him but Christ he’s got a cheek to moan about diving. As soon as someone dares challenge that thug Barnes he goes down like he’s been hit by a sniper.
October 27, 20196 yr 4 points up on Arsenal 7 points upon United 8 points up on Spurs Rudiger, RLC and Kante have barely featured. Well done to Frank and co. November and December are always our bogey months. Let's hope we can put that behind us this season KTBFFH
October 28, 20196 yr Think CHO needs to put a bit more maturity into his game.. He looks his age when he plays right now, bags of talent but quite a lot of stupid play and gets frustrated too easily. He will get better. also thought James was very good when he came on. He certainly would be a good fullback if Dave wasn't available. The game after Ajax was always going to be a test so well done to the boys.
October 28, 20196 yr We have to be happy going away to Burnley and winning comprehensively. Thought we looked very good in all phases, even when they put us under a bit of pressure in first half. We looked more solid than we have done. Some glass half empty observations (sorry to be a bit negative): - We still give up clear cut opportunities defensively. It will happen with younger players, but its not like they were great moves by Burnley. Still lots of room for improvement re defensive solidity. Rudiger and Kante, if we ever see them again, will help. - Pulisic did will in broken play and had a bit of fortune with the goals, but didn't feel he deserved all the hype he got. Still feels a bit scattergun, but he is young and is showing promise. - VAR is a ever increasing pain for me. Seems they set the bar so high for some decisions and incredibly low for others. Need to iron this out quickly. - Wonder whether Frank could be making changes earlier in the game to freshen things up. Seem to be quite late to me - when comfortable at 3 up, would have liked to see Giroud sooner for example. In general, really happy with what we have seen in recent weeks. Arguably we should be beating all these teams anyway and we'll have harder runs of fixtures in the coming months, but we've done what we had to (and looked good at it).
