August 19, 20214 yr Of all the players this season I expect to go up a level from last summer's spending spree it's this man. He looked good in pre season and after another injury he'll be out to prove why he should be starting.

If it was dislocated, surely he can'tbe back in traning again?

September 9, 20214 yr Wonder if Ziyech might get the nod to start against Villa on Saturday having had the benefit of staying at Cobham during the international break and likely to be a lot more fresh than the likes of Mount who played the full 90 minutes for England last night.

Agree.. bought nothing to the table.. every shot bar one got blocked.. no take ons.. wasnt able to link up with Mount of Lukaku.. needs to pick up his game massively. I think we need to start CHO/Werner against spurs.

This is the same as last season, he was anonymous for a number of games and for some reason he kept being selected.

Tuchel seems to see something in him that he wants to unlock. He's probably impressive in training. He's had two anonymous games in a row now though and is up against a lot of competition for places, so he's probably getting dropped sooner rather than later now, just like he was last season.

I don't care about pre season unless you are young or new. Ziyech is 28, what you see is what you will get.
September 15, 20214 yr He's meant to be the player to unlock deep defence, but judging by this game he's no where near it. Of course it's still early in the season, but I don't see why we need to persist with him with so many options in that part of the field.
September 15, 20214 yr Just not happening for him at Chelsea is it? Games just seem to keep passing him by. He's got a reputation of having quality delivery with his left foot from wide right positions but how often have we seen that so far for Chelsea? So often when he's hitting those crosses they're over hit and either sail out of play or are easily caught by the goalkeeper. He's got 4 assists in over 40 appearances for us in all competitions at the moment which really isn't good enough.
September 15, 20214 yr There was a run of three games under Lampard in November(?) last year in which he looked unplayable. Not sure what's happened since then... On recent form I think he and Pulisic should be behind Hudson-Odoi in the pecking order. Seems like a waste of minutes if they're not actually going to contribute in any meaningful way. Plus, as a bonus, it will annoy @loz.

Plus, as a bonus, it will annoy @loz. We don't play with wingers now which suit players like Ziyech and CHO. At Ajax, and under Lamps as mentioned above, Ziyech would be almost against the touchline to whip those deep balls into the back post. We seem to play with two number 10's behind Lukaku with the wing backs doing the work along the touchline. Sadly i can't see Ziyech or CHO truly shining as attackers so long as we play 343.
September 22, 20214 yr Ziyech's lack of effort isn't getting enough criticism. I can't remember a player that played for us that was this lazy. I remember Ajax fans saying he didn't work hard defensively, but I knew that when we signed him. What I didn't know was that he was just as lazy in attack. No way he played like this for Ajax. I remember him being much more alert in the Champions League for them, but for us, he looks like he is happy to just pick up his wages and go home. I think he needs a scare. Drop him completely and see how he reacts. If he doesn't put up a fight, then get rid of him and bring somebody else in. I'm sure we can find a replacement easily enough. I've given up on him a while ago to be honest and we have plenty of choices for his position that are far better, I just hope we can recover our money that we spent on him next summer.

Ziyech simply does not work hard enough and not only that he does not show enough quality. His passing and final ball are as awful as Werners one on one finishing.
