July 2, 20206 yr Could be a Europa league run next season may be useful to player development. Gotta look for the positives right?
July 2, 20206 yr I’ve lost all confidence in Rudiger after today. I used to rate him but that is as poor a centre back performance as I have ever seen. At fault for every goal. The second goal at fault twice (he didn’t continue his run to block the angle on the cross). It’s hard to watch Chelsea at times. How can defense be so cowardly and fragile every single week. We’ve been spoiled the last two decades with real defenders. This bunch are as soft as they come.
July 2, 20206 yr West Ham 2 corners, 2 goals, one luckily disallowed. 71% posession for Chelsea. We were only able to score from the penalty spot and direct free kick by Willian's inspiration. Only one team had lost both league games against West Ham. We have the same goals conceded as Brighton. One less than Burnley. One more than Newcastle. My Dear Frankie...
July 2, 20206 yr I just watched the match... The foul on Kante just before their GWG was completely missed. Edited July 2, 20206 yr by TrueBlueSeaFC87
July 2, 20206 yr Also we need to stop effing around with RLC. I appreciate his servitude but I don' think there is room for him moving forward.

I just think he is nowhere near match fit, and that will come with games. As for defence maybe we should play Zouma and Tomori, it couldn't get any worse. I'm still fuming this morning over that result, just when we look alright we spoil it with such a poor loss.

Give the guy a chance. He has just got over a serious injury that kept him out of the game for a full year, it's going to take a while for him to recover. He was one of our best players for before the injury, so it would be very harsh to just give up on him now.
July 2, 20206 yr Just watched most of the game again. Trying to put some sort of positive slant to it, impossible. Lacklustre, lazy, no fight, no passion. f**king clueless. Only one player looked even average and he was taken off (Kova) The rest at best 3/10. What did Tammy do, nothing, absolutely nothing, as for the ......... Oh f**k it Ps. Someone please give me some idea of what 20 -30 passes from their half back into our penalty area, keeper lumps it forward and we lose possession time after f**king time, what is that about. By that logic all you need is a bunch of very tall players and you can pretty much beat any opponent by virtue of being taller than them at set pieces.
July 2, 20206 yr We should do everything we can to sign Declan Rice this summer. He's dominated us twice this season and he's the type of leader we sorely lack in this team. As a CDM i'd have him over Kante any day of the week. He's also a natural CB so he could be the answer to some of our defensive woes.
July 2, 20206 yr We can argue all day about the merits of who should be playing, where they play and to what system. The simple fact is with 71% possession there is no way we should be conceding three goals, that is carelessness. The first goal conceded was ludicrous, we'd had the warning minutes previously and to concede the corner in the manner we did was criminal. Go in at half time one up and this game was won, Spammers were deflated. Yet again just after the break we failed to start, gave away careless possession and we're a goal down due to a lack of awareness at the back. The third goal was borderline kamikaze, it could be argued that Rudiger would have been better letting Yarmolenko have a run at goal rather than showing him onto his stronger left foot with the perfect angle. All these goals were preventable and should have been. Moving onto our attack or lack of it, Tammy is showing a distinct lack of awareness. He fails consistently to make the right runs, isn't spatially aware and doesn't open space for others to exploit. Can this be coached into him or do we just have to accept that he isn't going to be the striker we all hope for? Willian is back at his annoying self, good positions wasted with poor final ball selection. Pulisic again looked the brightest on the ball. Midfield whilst dominant failed to open up the defence enough though Kovacic had a decent first half and Mount gave us impetus when he came on. Top four will be hard now with the remaining fixtures, we still have the two point advantage but we could be now praying for City's demise. One thing for definite is we have to cut out though is the careless mistakes that are costing us points.
July 2, 20206 yr I suspect (hope) that Frank may well read these forums. So Frank if you are reading this, then I am sure that this morning, you will not need telling that you need to completely re-think the back three or four and do as you did earlier in the season and get shot of Kepa. I hope that you will be sitting down with Marina as soon as possible to make clear that we need to sign TWO quality centre backs, a left back (Chilwell is NOT worth £60mill +) and a keeper. Tell her to get shot of Christensen, Rudiger, Zouma, Emerson, Alonso and Kepa. Reece James has potential as does Tomori and Dave should be retained too. We need a commanding presence and leader like Koulibally although he is 30+ and will be expensive. Maybe also buy Declan Rice and play him at CB. We do NOT need any more midfield players. We generally look good going forward (but not last night), but if you cannot defend simple set pieces like corners, you will never succeed at the highest level. You will have learned that from Mourinho, Ancellotti, Benitez, Hiddink and Guardiola. But, you can only work with the squad you have, which we all know in our hearts is simply not good enough. Get on the phone to Marina this morning and beg her to start spending some of that "war chest" With the financial aftermarth of the Pandemic seriously affecting football, there will be some excellent deals available as Clubs are forced to cash in to provide operating cash.
July 2, 20206 yr I'm just clinging to the hope that deep down Frank knows we need a top quality central defender, or 2, and has decided not to publicly slate Rudiger and Christensen. Although just watching a couple of clips of Antonio should of alerted Frank to the fact that Christian could struggle against him. Lets hope that the management team do a bit of research on Troy Deeney.
July 2, 20206 yr lol wtf happened when I left for work willian had just scored the penalty for 1-0... I checked the score 3 hours later at work while on break and see we lost 3-2 -.- ffs to west ham...
July 2, 20206 yr Very disappointing loss, especially when we could grab the 3rd spot and keep running from United and Wolves. We looked poor everywhere on the pitch, from our defense to attack. Without Pulisic and Willian we were losing the game. We made mistakes that you expecting them to be fixed in u15 or u16, they can't happen in the high level. Bad marking in two goals, especially when one goal was cancelled and they just copied it again. We weren't creative enough, maybe little more when Mount came on and helped Willian and Pulisic. We have serious problems in the final minutes, we conceded many goals and lost many points, it's something we must improve for the next season. We're lacking leadership on the pitch, even Azpilicueta as our captain he can't give us what Terry was giving. We need leaders, especially in the back and in the goal, Kepa is still trying to find his form, he doesn't really offer us safety and confidence in the back. We still have a long journey in front of us.
July 2, 20206 yr Can we still blame Jorginho or Zouma even though they weren't playing? Maybe we can pin it on Willian somehow, why wasn't he tracking back for the third goal? Why wasn't Jorginho covering the back 4 ?Why did Zouma leave his man? FFS...

July 2, 20206 yr Compare the comments on the City game to the West Ham game. it's not only the team that are inconsistent ! it's the same old failings though, tons of possession , no end product. Deplorable defending especially on crosses. I can't see how hard this is to fix , surely it can be sorted out ? Although it's lasted all season , beginning to think we only beat City because they didn't sling crosses into the box..! Anyway, forget CL and the Cup , I didn't want the season to restart anyway. I'm writing it off, it's the only way to keep sane

I haven't gotten excited since the restart because I can see the same issues we had at the first match against United still present
