Declan Rice to Chelsea?

We apparently tried to sign him before he joined Dortmund and we're supposedly keeping tabs on him.

Don't think we'd be in for him yet but likely to happen at some point, bit like how we tracked Barkley for a few years along with Shaw and Stones.

I remember that, Shaw the suppose to be the Ashley Cole replacement, Stones the new JT and Barkley the Lampard replacement.

It didn't go so well.

After the last few weeks I wonder whether the club are going to go all out for him now. Kante and Kovacic have been seeming increasingly injury prone over the last year, Saul and Barkley aren't good enough, and RLC is still getting up to speed after a near career-ending injury. Now might be the right time to get Rice before any other team swoops in.

Unless they resolve Christensen and Rudiger's contracts they'll need to save money for defenders before thinking about buying anyone else.

Rice can cover at CB

West ham will just tell us to pi$$ off. Would be a waste of time.

West Ham are in a stronger negociating position than just a year or two ago. They've improved and so have their European prospects.

He's more "ready" than Aurelien Tchouameni, but Aurelien has a higher ceiling. Would be cheaper too, hope the scouts are earning their wages on our DM and soon to be CB issues.

That's fair but I honestly feel if Rice pushes for the move we have a chance and you can't keep an unhappy player on your team forever (unless you're Tottenham).

I think he will be pushing for a move at the end of the season, whether its us or United is yet to see. West Ham will not get the top 4 this year, they have get deep into the Europa league but they do will not get past those solid Europa league teams. He got nothing to prove there, and not going to sign another contract.

If we lose one of them it won't be that much of a problem but if both leave then I doubt that the club can afford to spend 100m on Rice.

Think he will have what 2 years plus the club option 1 year left in the summer. So no pressure to sell until 2023 for West ham.

Apparently Man United can't afford the price of 100m so they will try to sign MilinkovicSavic from Lazio instead for less money.

I wonder if we can just wait 2 seasons and then sign him for free...?

If we sign him let's hope the other CM is as good at bailing his partner out as Kelvin Phillips was at the Euro's.

Lets hope so, mind if we only need one CM to bail him out its a step up from needing 3 players to cover for Jorginho so its a net gain of 2 players, happy days.

In that case hopefully Jorginho at his new club won't pull his pants down in a major final again.

You're right, except that didn't actually happen now did it.

I'd like to know exactly how that final after the first half an hour could be described as anything other than complete control by Italy.

That's an entirely different statement.

Watched him v United today. We should get him.

He's developed into an absolutely fantastic midfielder.

Yes. The commentators noted how much his fitness levels and physical strength have improved this season. I think he will only get better.
