He's top class, one bad game changes absolutely nothing (unless he loses the plot after it ala Christensen vs Barca).

Yeah, he just had one bad game, calling him overrated sounds like the usual reactionary post after a loss.

a bad day at the office, i think we can forgive him he’s saved us enough in the past! 

I still find it almost maddening that we know full well he will never save a penalty, the guy hasn’t got any attributes needed to save a penalty. At the ‘elite’ level of the game, that’s quite damning and makes us vulnerable, as we know there could never be a get out of jail free card with him.

Poor display, real shocker and cost us the 3 points. Has saved us many times before though, so he gets a pass imo.

As good as Mendy has been, this has been on the cards for a good few weeks. Can't believe our goal-keeping coaches haven't been on the case as it was only a matter of time something like today would happen.

Let's hope he's got it out of his system and is back to clean sheet Mendy again!

I really don't get why this is even a debate. Did we debate whether Cech should be dropped for Turnbull everytime he had a shocker?

A few cup heroics is making us forget just how bad Kepa is/was as a number one 

A day to forget.  Tricky period - hope the coaches get him focused on the basics and fundamentals again and the game will be easier for him.  Just looks a little complicated right now and overthinking.  Probably some level of mental fatigue also.

A good test - needs to bounce back, and am confident he will.

His mistake has definitely been coming. I have no problem with his hands but he has been making mistakes with his feet recently but not been punished. 

I remember his pass to Fred at the end of the man u game that utd failed to capitalise on. 

This is his first ACoN with huge pressure on him after becoming the first African keeper to win a CL. Maybe the nerves are getting to him with weight of his nation on his shoulders.

Perhaps. However I would say just as likely that he has lost a bit of confidence due to some of the shakiness in front of him. Our makeshift midfield is not providing anywhere near the same defense that we expect to see with a fully fit team.

Might be time to put Reece in center midfield 

He made a couple of mistakes playing out from the back and he took a position for a cross for the Masuaku goal. He didn't make any other big goalkeeping mistakes. He just had a bad game. We're overthinking this 

Just boot the ball out to Row Z when in trouble, when modern footballers and especially GK stop doing that? I could understand Jorginho taking a risk or 2, he's a elite MF been doing that all his career. All to respect to Mendy, just hasn't got the skills to play with fire like that ( and it's been going on for a while),  just put it out. Very few GKs could play like Emerson, and to be honest I want a great shot stopper than an extra MF in my GK.

He shouldn't be dropped, but if Kepa get a good run during the ANC, the number 1 position may be debatable.

Had a bad day on Saturday, but he's done enough over the course of the period to earn our trust to redeem himself.

He made some top saves today. The shot from Salah,no way is Kepa getting that.

Indeed. He should never have allowed Salahs goal in though. Should not be beaten on his near post.

Salah had too much time there and Mendy just went down, in the end it's a 1v1 and Salah took it, I don't expect a RB like James to take that chance every single time but for Salah that's just too easy.

Exactly, Mendy just basically said go on then put it there and Salah was more than happy too. Was poor goalkeeping. He was otherwise immense.

It was an outstanding piece of skill from Salah to be fair. I think Alonso was at fault for giving Salah so much room in the first place. Once he allowed him to cut inside he had several options and that was always going to make things tricky for Mendy.

Alonso could have done better, so could have Toni.
