Just let him warm the bench, he has no footballing brain, and now fills me with more dread than Kepa, not proactive at all, got away with a pass on that goal, 100% at fault for first goal, it’s football, not Vollryball….

I agree. I worry every time we pass the ball to him, even if he’s got time to distribute.

Mendy is a big, muscular guy. Why is he so easily bullied on corners.

Kepa I get. He is short and gangly, but Mendy used to shove his way around and either catch or punch the ball away.

What was he doing on the first goal? If that was Kepa we would be seeing pages on pages of his height being an issue. Mendy is huge and yet looked less secure to catch a flying object than the women catching the boque at a wedding.

He needs to go see a shrink cause something is wrong in his mindset.

Talk about him getting a new deal now within the new Reece James contract stories, god I hope not.. would be massively shooting ourselves in the foot there. Scary Hours.

Agreed. When he first arrived, he was the commanding presence we badly needed as Kepa was so poor in the air. Now, he is doing an impression of Kepa, flapping at things rather than catching or punching properly and his ball control at his feet is abysmal. In short, we MUST give Kepa another try, NOW !!

he just is having a bit of a rough patch. Don't forget how good he was for us before

That rough patch has been going on for 9 months now. He never recovered from those mistakes against West Ham last season. He was really good before then, but how you recover from a big mistake is usually what makes or breaks a footballer.

we have higher expectations for Mendy than we do for Kepa. Mendy makes saves every game that Kepa would have let in on a regular. Kepa doesn't even try to intercept crosses most of the time. I'm convinced Mendy is a far better keeper than Kepa, except for playing out from the back and his distribution.

We need a top class keeper, who excels in all regards and rarely makes mistakes, as City and Pool do with Ederson and Allison, if we are to have any hope of competing with them in the future.

So it is real simple. Mendy either proves he can, and over the last year he looks well short, or we replace him with someone who can.

We know he can do much, much better. Hopefully he'll get out of his horrible slump, otherwise yeah, we need an upgrade.

He has the platform, he can learn. Since his huge gaffe at Leeds he has been doing things simple with the ball to feet. Much better. Now he needs to improve these other areas.

He’s gone from golden gloves in CL campaign that culminated in Porto to a huge liability. TT acknowledged as much in his presser excusing him by citing his impressive showing in training. If we know it the club knows it, hopefully he’s not up for a huge pay rise just a contract extension to maintain any resale value. Kepa needs a run in first team. never though I’d post that sentence on here

He was a wild card signing, had that huge 1/2 season, but I think all the talks of golden gloves got into his head, and now he couldn't even do the basics. Kepa must be really poor in training if he can't get a game soon, although he looked a quality coach watching the little talk he had on Havertz on the weekend. The 18 year old American won't be thrust into the starting line up next year, need time to settle. Realistically, either Mendy and Kepa picks up their form, or we are looking at another record breaking GK signing next summer.

Mount has been useless this season but is up for a pay rise. Why not Mendy who's won 3 trophies for us?

Would be a mistake to offer him a huge contract. He's been very poor lately and hasn't done anything to show he deserves one. I'd rather we start looking at other options for GK,

Yes we normally have delved into the more mature PL keepers by now, we've had some crackers that have served us well.
