Edouard Mendy to Chelsea!

When the Saints fans are shouting shoot to players with the ball outside the box, you know other teams can see hes weak!

Couldn't imagine anyone screaming for a shot there in the Courtois/Cech days! You would be trolling yourselves!

Isn’t this just a thing that fans do when someone is in shooting range? I don’t think it matters who the keeper is but fans shouting “shoot” when a player is within 35 yards has happened as long I’ve watched football!

Club always seems to ignore the importance of having 2 top goalies, the only moment we did have that situation in the last 20 years was Cech & Carlo (whom club promptly let go to spuds) then Cech &The Snake , the latter threw his toys out of the pram and Cech got moved on to Arse. Now we have the opposite situation 2 bang average goalies Mendy & Kepa, a back up whose not really suitable and a leaking goal, bloody brilliant.

Still we are signing defenders and attackers only this window.

If a player has hit them from there before or the keeper is bad and can be beaten easily from there, then yea!

They had already scored the second before they started calling for it.

Two keepers with weak wrists. Great. But we don't need to spend time looking for a competent keeper or quality midfielders do we?

That's the thing, us not going for a midfielder would be insanity, hence why I think there must be something to those De Jong rumors. Would be pretty ridiculous if we don't at the very least end up with a stop-gap.

I just do not see it happening with De Jong. He and his wife are very much determined to stay at Barca.

Agree with you though we need not one but two stop gaps simply because we know, and have known for years, Kovacic and Kante are injury prone and miss lots of games. We should also know Gallagher is not a deep sitting midfielder and RLC, as a midfielder, is not good enough at the level we want to be.

Then there is the rapidly declining Jorgi.

We want to go to a back 4 apparently? Ok sign Nididi as our DM and Tielemans as our general midfielder. Leicester would bite our hands off to let them go before they leave for nothing.

I am not saying they are our long term solution. They are like Auba, stop gaps to give us a shot at top 4. Cause a season where Kante and Kova miss a lot of it  and all we have is Gallagher, Jorgi and RLC deep is a season we dont make top 4 imo

Mendy looks done - confidence is gone and he is making errors game in game out that are costing us points. Yeah, the shot was well hit, but it was on his side of the goal and he got a good hand on the shot, which was from a long way out, but he all he could do was simply palm it into the net. Shameful.

If that was Kepa conceded that goal, be crucify him for it. Poor set pieces defending to setup the goal, but GK has to make a save on that kind of shot. Again, there's no enforcement for GK this season, need either Mendy or Kepa get their mojos back.

One thing I have noticed from these first 4 games is that the opponent has set up every single corner the same way against us. Surround Mendy and send a cross right on top of him. Mendy doesn't have the strength, confidence or ability to come out and collect the ball, so he's either going to panic and flap at the ball, somebody's going to have to bail him out every time (like Silva did many times last night) or we're going to concede.

He's become an easy target for teams, everybody is playing for corner kicks against us now.

The fact that Dave would rather put it out for a corner (from which they scored) than pass it back to Mendy with a player near to him is bad, very bad.

You can’t win the league without a top goalkeeper, the top ones earn you about 10 points per season.

I think Mendy’s shot to save ratio has got to be less than 50%.

With 2 days to go I am not impressed with our transfer window so far and how we have identified targets.

We started ok, Sterling is an upgrade on Timo, but Koulibaly is looking less so on Toni and Cucurella has been a bit meh, imo. We have not addressed our forward issue, our midfield being awful without the always injured Kante, and having 2 number 2 keepers and no number one.

We look in a right mess for the coming season, unless we have a big 2 days ahead.

Well getting an upgrade on Toni is very hard, I'd say we did pretty well replacing him with Koulibaly. Let's give the big man some time. It's not hard coming from a foreign league into a disjointed team with the task of replacing one of the most important players. Where we didn't do well is playing hard ball with Rüdiger, taking forever to make him an offer for 200k a week. Now we've paid 32 million pounds for a player that still needs to adjust, is 2 years older and gets 325k a week...

I think the players we got in are all pretty good. We might have overpaid for some and we couldn't adress all our weaknesses, but that was always a tall order considering we had to replace two starting CB's and a 100 million pound striker on top of the rest.

Time to give Kepa a run between the sticks.

At this point I think he would do better. His ability with his feet should easy some of the worries of our defenders as well I imagine.

Mendy had very little to do today, and managed to get most of it wrong.

Flapped for their goal, didn’t get any contact on an attempted punch and the ball falls for them for a tap in.

Before we score the second goal, Jorginho loses the ball on the edge of the box, Mendy half comes for a cross and then changes his mind, they hit the post and really should’ve scored

The disallowed goal, he got very lucky to get a free kick given for him  him but should have just collected the ball rather than palming it back out into danger, and dealt with the danger at the first time of asking.

Another shaky performance and hopefully Kepa now gets a run, genuinely cannot be any worse at the moment.

Kepa cant do any worst and hes better with his feet.

It won’t happen mate until we play Barking FC in a FA Cup round!

Been banging my head into a brick wall since last season, we might as well put Oscar Pistorius in goal!

This is a problem we have to address - costing us every game, and it didn't just start (funny enough you can almost go back to West Ham away last year).  Looks so nervous in the air, won't catch anything and put a man near him he looks weak.  Not a great shot stopper, and his weakest trait of all is with his feet.  Needs to be dropped.

This is Kepa we are talking about. I do agree that it's time for him to come in though. The keeper can't ever be scared and that is exactly what Mendy is right now.

The best thing Mendy did in today’s match was to stay down after being touched by Bowen.

That actually helped with the VAR decision.

Other than that he has to be dropped now, we are literally at the stage where we are trying to outscore our own goalkeeping mistakes.

He flaps at everything, he’s clearly lost his confidence and is probably averaging a costly mistake each match now.

He’s 6 foot 6, can use his hands as well but doesn’t dominate in the air anymore.

Every single team is targeting that area of his game now.

Bring back Kepa!

FFS - What does he have to do to get dropped?

He is literally costing us goals and chances every game. He was directly at fault for both pikey goals today, and looked shaky at everything he did.

He has to get dropped! I am so angry that Tuchel keeps playing a player that is clearly such a liability.
