The 1 year extension to Dave's contact was understable given the sanctions at the time. We didn't even know if signings would be possible this summer. And the club is still willing to let him go. But Barca are playing games here. We only asked for a small fee, and they are trying to get him free. If they wait a year that is still an option. But perhaps Sevilla will want him now that they sold Kounde.

Apparently Monchi played a key role in stopping Kounde coming here. He was left annoyed with our former owners with how the transfer collapsed last summer as Sevilla always maintained that was our fault, and he has been left as unimpressed with the new owners that Kounde was even in London early in the hopes a deal would be agreed only for us to target several other defenders before returning to Kounde. Monchi took that as an insult and he has not forgiven it.

That is why Sevilla have never given us the green light and they have encouraged Barca behind close doors. 

Explains why Barca agreed a deal instantly over a weekend and we still don't have a deal after 2 weeks.

Kounde was open to both moves, we did not face Barca in a fair fight more one that Monchi made us a last resort if his talks with Barca failed.

If Sevilla wanted to sell to us, they could have done it already. Instead, there meant to be a talk with them again on Sunday, to raise our bid again? Whether this deal goes through or not, we are again behind schedule to get players ready for the new season.

f**k Monchi and f**k Kounde. Yes our transfer dealing this season has been nothing short of disastrous but if that twat monchi wants to strengthen his domestic rival by selling them their primary CB just to spite us then it will be his f**king problem next season. We will move on and get someone else. Good riddance and f**k them all.

Personally I believe it. If Sevilla had wanted to sell to us they would have green lighted the move a week or more ago. They have not, Kounde has never been given the all clear to come for a medical or complete negotiations with us. Why, when City did with Sterling even before they have agreed full terms with us? Cause they fully intended to let him join us, whereas for Monchi we were the last option.

I am not bothered by players wishing to stay with the Club they are at, like Kimpembe and Ake. They are entitled to that decision if they are happy where they are. I am far more bothered with the De Ligt  and Kounde debacles. Someone on Twitter asked why  we spend two to three weeks, with all the associated man hours, on players who NEVER wanted to join Chelsea. I would have loved De Ligt, but I dont think Chelsea were big enough for him after Juventus, Kounde has said all along he wanted to stay in Spain and play for Barca if possible. Therefore, We should have instantly dropped any interest we had in him.  There MUST be hundreds of good players out there, desperate to play for a Club, like Chelsea, in the Champions League and have a realistic chance of winning trophies. I use the phrase "good players" as I don't think that there are many GREAT players around, and those that are truly great are not likely to move.  We desperately need the new Sporting Director fella to get hold of this, and link up with TT and get some serious targets identified.

Another odd thing is how we seem to only be able to negotiate for 1 player at a time.

If we're no longer the richest club that can blow other bids out the water, we really need to improve our scouting a find these players on the cheap who in as little as 12 months will be worth upwards of 60m. All we do is sign expensive flops.

I still don't see what Barcelona is doing wrong per say. Their pull seems to overpower our pull of players. We need to make our project more exciting. 

Same goes with us and Tottenham I suppose. We have been snatching players in front of them...

If Kounde wants to go to Barcelona he should go there. I don't want a player who doesn't want to come here.
