July 25, 20223 yr Seville just don't want us to pull out as it weakens their negotiations with Barca I expect

I don't want a player who doesn't want to come here. Nah no way, Something is going on, Theyre messing everyone around! Redcafe are fuming about de jong haha Even bayern cheif talked about it, Dont forget tods dinner with them also! IMO theyre trying to do us over, Possibly something to do with the last lot that left, Although someone should really go through barcas finance because from a laymans view it absolutely stinks of brown paper envelopes with iou's inside because barca have no money! Time will tell!
July 25, 20223 yr After this if we are a serious club the board would stop all communication with Sevilla. Man City did that after they agreed on Jorginho with Napoli, because he is our player Man City has 0 communication with Napoli till this day. Monchi played us over and over again, stop all relations and forget about that club.

Time will tell! Although it is hard to call them sane the way they are handling their financies, Barcelona is looking for Barcelona's interest. If they have time to think about Chelsea or ManU I think they are as good as done. There is a number of players good enough for top teams so we are all after them. We are also hearing news of them via reporters and not from the clubs so I would always take a pinch of salt with these stories.
July 25, 20223 yr My complaint is simple. 1) If we want Kounde, stop f**king around trying to "negotiate" with Seville, and just pay the price that gets them to accept the deal. If its £55, £60 or £65mill, it isnt too much of a difference in the grand scheme. 2) Speak to Koundes agent and make it very clear. If he wants to go to Barca, that is fine. But we give 24 hours for him to tell us definitively. That way, Barca's games are all irrelevant. It surely cannot be as hard as we are making it.
July 25, 20223 yr what we need to do is feign interest in De Jong, delay negotiations until the last hours, pull out and leave them with De Jong and unable to register their new players

Barca are a bigger club than we are and their attractiveness to players simply dwarfs ours. If they want a player we're in for then that player is almost certain to choose them. It's just a football fact. No point getting ourselves worked up about it. Board needs to stay calm and avoid overspending on average players just to 'get someone in'. As everyone here knows, and most have posted about over the years, that approach has been a major contributor to bringing us to where we are. The situation is not great but it calls for calm heads and careful, well thought out, decisions.

I don't want a player who doesn't want to come here. I agree 100% with this, although other than the Willian thing i am not sure who else we snatched from under the noses of Tottenham. Actually i think the Barkley one went the other way until he failed a medical or they ran out of time. Anyway i don't think we snatched him and look how well that has turned out. My isuse isn't totally with what Barcelona are doing, although regardless of FFP, there must be some financial regulations in place that will prevent clubs from trading in the market when that are technically bankrupt and have creditors still owed sizeable amounts of money. My issue is with the way we are treating the negotiations we are having. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that Kounde does not want to come here. So why are we still messing around with this. It makes us look laughably weak. as soon as there was a whiff of this, we should have ended it. Any agent now knows that they can start negotiations with us and then use that for leverage with other clubs to get better deals becuase we will hang on for a month beign the saps we are. Watch this St Maximim trundle on for weeks until some french or German outfit show an interest Our deals need to be impressive, no penny pinching when you have just laid out 2.5Bn, and if the player/agent doesn't jump at it straight away, done, move on. Next. I would even go as far to say t hathe players are inconsequential. If TT has a plan and a style and if we are going to back that, he and his staff shoudl have teh ability to mould the players into what he wants. All we need are players sufficiently good enough to meet the physical demands of this league and to be able adapt to the style that TT wants to play. Line them players up and go in at a level taht puts off competition.

July 25, 20223 yr Barcelona seem to be playing a game via their local media, without yet actually speaking to Sevilla for Jules Kounde. Chelsea continue to be in the picture, and there’s growing confusion about what Barca are playing at. - Diario de Sevilla via @Sport_Witness Sevilla and Chelsea ‘continue to negotiate’ for Jules Kounde. Barcelona want the player, but they still haven’t contacted Sevilla or placed an offer. - @abcdesevilla via @Sport_Witness Apparently Barca still haven’t contacted Sevilla. Who knows what’s happening

The situation is not great but it calls for calm heads and careful, well thought out, decisions. I am also of the firm belief that everybody knows that Barcelona are bankrupt and living on borrowed time. They are desparate for a super league and what money that may bring them. La Liga can't afford for that to happen, nor can the league afford for them to fold. If Barcelona can recover some of their fortunes without changing the domestic set up all the better for La Liga's administrators. Do i belive that La Liga itself would blow in the ears of Sevilla, AM, Real Sociedad, Valencie and encourage them to bend to the will of Barcelona, wherever necessary for the good of the league, abso-fking-lutely. I am certain that Sevilla are waiting for Barcelona's finances to come in, either via another loan or the sale of De Jong, and i bet they are being encouraged to wait.
July 25, 20223 yr If we did what Barcelona did this summer we’d be heavily punished and get a transfer window ban. How are they getting away with it?

July 25, 20223 yr 10 hours ago, axman2526 said: New angle on part of why we missed out to Barca. Apparently Monchi played a key role in stopping Kounde coming here. He was left annoyed with our former owners with how the transfer collapsed last summer as Sevilla always maintained that was our fault, and he has been left as unimpressed with the new owners that Kounde was even in London early in the hopes a deal would be agreed only for us to target several other defenders before returning to Kounde. Monchi took that as an insult and he has not forgiven it. That is why Sevilla have never given us the green light and they have encouraged Barca behind close doors. Explains why Barca agreed a deal instantly over a weekend and we still don't have a deal after 2 weeks. Kounde was open to both moves, we did not face Barca in a fair fight more one that Monchi made us a last resort if his talks with Barca failed. Any chance of sharing your ITK source?
July 25, 20223 yr The thing is i like the policy we are adopting where we aren't just going for anyone. However, there are plenty of very good cb's out there for a much lower price who are equally as good or if not better. I don't know what is going out with our scouting department to be perfectly honest. PSG are buying Mukiele for 13m. Newcastle bought a very good defender in Botman for around 30m. Theres inacio at sporting for around 20m who will be playing at the very top within 1 or 2 years max. yet we persist with only the big names like Kounde and De Ligt who haven't even had great seasons and dont give a stuff whether they sign for us or any other big team.

Who knows what’s happening Right, we do NOT know what is happening and nor does the media. Barcelona are clearly playing games, but we are not sure what those games are as of yet. I am sure Barcelona have been in contact with Kounde. Tapping UP - It is expressly forbidden, but is not illegal. As far as my limited sources go, Barcelona have not yet, have not, or never will? make an offer for Kounde. Xavi wants Kounde we are told in the media, but we are also told he wants Messi, y'know because Xavi is a great guy right? He is being seen as a great manager and a true Barca man, as is the chairman. Laporte has some sort of messiah complex. He is selling their future so that next season they might look good. . . and he will look good. Bacelona still want Alonso and AZpi. Apparently. The PR image of Barcelona is all tied into this bullsh*t and it is a pathetic way to run a football club. But we all knew that. We wait. My guess is Kounde will sign for Chelsea, with Barcelona sending the message he really wanted to play for Barca and that they did everything they could, etc. etc. In reality? something different, but god knows, what the real truth is. I asked my source and he said: I am still not aware of any Barcelona offer Laporte may pull a lever? He may. And if he does we should stay in the auction and then bid the price up very HIGH and then let them have Kounde. We should also start putting in LARGE bids on all Barca targets. We can make then pay, quite literally. lol. And we all know that they do not really have the money. So, whereas Barca seem to be winning the war in the media and in PR teams, the reality is something very different. Edited July 25, 20223 yr by TheCeleryKing
July 25, 20223 yr I asked my source "the mirror" and he said wtf this is not making anyone look good, the season starts soon, touchel is complaining (a bad, bad sign) and we couldn't score any goals even with an open net. Sevilla, Barcelona and we all look bad. I do think Barcelona have made a rod for their own back but at the same time they seem to get every player they go for. Players seem to want to play for free there. There must be some reason why none of our targets want to come here save sterling and to a lesser extent koulibaly. De ligt preferred bayern, raphina and dembele prefer barca, dave wants to go to barca, even second choice ake wants to stay at ManC. We won the cl two seasons ago and have done better than barca for about 3-4 years now and seem to be on firm financial footing so not sure what it is. Are we not offering enough money? Is Tuchel who was a pin up boy only 12 months ago suddenly yesterday's hero? Its a bit weird.

Sevilla, Barcelona and we all look bad. Did your source say that Barcelona have put in a bid? Because mine said that there has been no bid. I cannot find any evidence anywhere of any bid, other than conjecture in the media. Yes, at this point in time we are ill-prepared for the new season. We need another month to get our house in order. We need to offload some players and bring in some players and then have a proper pre-season. We may not be starting the new season with all guns blazing. We still have a decent backbone of players. The mighty Tuchel is still a decent manager imho and he will make sure we get by in the early stages of the season. However, the World cup is going to interrupt this season and that may well help us out with our planning. Just a thought.

Probably merely a case of a Dutch lad having Bayern as his dream club from an early age, and Brazilians favouring Barcelona, presumably down to several generations growing up watching Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar etc in the red and blue stripes ... Dembele was already a Barcelona player and wanted to stay there. and we don't know for a fact that we ever even put an offer in front of him. Dave wants to go home to Spain, and probably fancies being at a club that will compete for trophies, as he is used to doing exactly that with us. With Ake, I think it was more a case of City asking for too much money for him. All perfectly explainable without any of it necessarily being a case of incompetence, inexperience, etc etc, on our part ... Edited July 25, 20223 yr by Sexyfootball
