I was going to say be brave and start CHO at RWB over Dave then I saw him on the left :face_palm:

Please, let's start Odoi over Dave at RWB and have Chillwell at LWB.

This is the type of games worries me, just about everyone is coming back from International break. Some are fatigued, some got a knock or two, may even lose a few due to Covid.  I reckon who ever didn't go to the break should get some game time. Villa hasn't been great, but they do have some quality players to hurt us on the day, and International break doesn't hurt them as much as it did to us.

With the internationals on this game and Zenit afterwards present TT an opportunity to rotate the squad and rest legs ahead of a long campaign.

Think it would be wise for players like Mount, Rudiger, Dave, Havertz and Lukaku to get a game off from the 2. Jorgi to have both off imo.

This game needs to be taken very seriously. Cannot undo all that hardwork vs Liverpool. Start the strongest team possible. It's too early in the season to be rotating.

Have to consider how our players return from internationals, some play Wednesday night ahead of this Saturday game.

I am not sure exactly who has stayed behind however you may see TT adding the likes of Silva, Ziyech and chilwell to the line up.

Anyone know a full list of first team players that did not travel for internationals?

Lukaku's fitness levels is incredible. He will play. We can't afford to gamble leaving him out for this game. Villa are a very good team. I would actually prefer if he was rested for Zenit game, but no doubt he will stay both.

We should be able to dismiss Zenit without him.

Am trying to look at the long game this season and, with the exception of the league cup, which I am not fussed about, want us to go strong in the main 3 and deliver the club world cup.

Also thinking using those who stayed at Cobham working 2 weeks with TT ahead of Villa might give us a better chance to beat Villa than those coming back for a warm down session and one main training session on Friday.

Players like Ziyech, Silva, Alonso, Chilwell, CHO etc could prove very helpful.

Thiago Silva is in all likelihood out for the Villa and the Zenit matches due to a Fifa rule

If he had gone with the national side the quarantine period would have had him miss more than those two games.

It is unfortunate that the Brazilian FA has acted this way, but not a surprise they have nor that Fifa are following up on it as the latter appealed unsuccessful to the British PM for exceptions for those players to avoid this and he said no so they are hoping the club's now pressure the government ahead of future pointless international games.

I honestly hope the same thing happens next international break. What's the point releasing them when they will still have to isolate for 10 days when they return and probably be out of action for 2 weeks . I will take a 5 day ban anyday of the week. Besides Grand pa Silva needs the rest

They will also try to push a big change from what I read, they want the World Cup to be every 2 years.

If it were possible to nuke international matches out of existence, I would be all for it, I'm afraid...

I mean I get world cup and european qualifiers for the most part. But when they do a break and it's just friendlies, i want those to go away. So, pleasee, nuke away

Didn't know where to put this and I thought probably not so many look in the video games thread... What a story about him signing, his dad was going to walk away because Veron was about to get the number 10...

Would it not be wonderful if all clubs jsut turned around after this and refused to release any of our players for international games? Or seek a very heafty compensation package from each respective FA making it impossible for them to call up?

Fifa and Uefa would be in proper cr@p with not even C list players at their events lol.

Also let's not forget to point out the hypocrisy of both Fifa and Brazil Fa as they have specifically said Everton and Richarlison are exempt from this as the Brazil fa grant Everton a favour of allowing him to play in the Olympics lmao.

Maybe you don’t like to tempt fate Val or tell your sister little white ones but can I suggest telling sis that you were feeling  a little unwell and didn’t like to risk bringing C19 to the party. So, as a caring human, you went for PCR test and you’re awaiting results. Full time whistle phone sis and tell her you just got all clear and you’re on your way. Spend the rest of the evening playing catch-up.

Phew, birthday party is postponed, due to it being pretty late in the day to get people to attend. Relief!

No doubt it will be planned on some other inconvenient moment, though.
