Talent doesn't develop in a vacuum though. You don't just buy players with "potential" and then they magically get better with time. They need mentoring from senior players too.

I mean Jackson, Madueke, Palmer, and Gusto have all improved after what was a cluster f**k of a season under a manager that emphasizes more on running than actual tactical discipline.

I think it also has to start somewhere. Those players will have 2-3 full seasons under their belt, a few finals and hopefully a few trophies by the time the likes of Paez and Endrick and maybe a few others arrive.

Maturity doesn't equal quality though. Clearlake can go out and bring in more mature players but that won't really impact the club unless they are of a high quality. The mature players Real Madrid are signing are elite (Rudiger/Alaba/Mbappe) that they alone can afford given their global revenue. It also offsets their ridiculous wages by getting them as free transfers, which goes with my point that Real Madrid have the lure and stability we don't. At its very core, I think Clearlake and Brighton's strategy really isn't that dissimilar to the model Real Madrid have who all have a priority of signing the elite young talent across the globe that can provide a long term impact.

What RM is doing is the same as what most big club is doing. You want to compete at the top so you need to build core player who are ready to play, since these player are expensive you need to supplement with young player. Normal stuff.

Other team doesn't have the same money as RM so they do in smaller scale.

What we are doing is very different. We are not trying to compete. So we put our money on signing young player and complement them with established player. It is very similar model to Brighton, Brighton doesn't have the same money as we do so they do it in smaller scale.

Brighton finished 6 2 seasons ago, if they want to compete, they will try to keep mccalister n Caicedo, add more player and try to get to top 4.

They didn't. It was contrary to what Arse did. Arse finished 5th 3 seasons ago, signed Jesus, zinchenko, finished 2nd.

You honestly think these owners don't want to compete?

No owner will throw away money like Clearlake have in the space of 2 seasons and bend over backwards to secure the top talent to not have the ambition to compete. Ownership stopped speaking directly to Poch after the League Cup final defeat and all year we have been hearing that Champions League qualification is the priority. Being competitive is what makes this club profitable.

I also fail to see what parallels you are making with Brighton and Chelsea.

- We finished 12th 2 seasons ago. We tied down Colwill long term amidst Liverpool interest and told Real Madrid to do one when they wanted James. We then added Caicedo, Nkunku, Jackson, and Palmer, to try and get Top 4.

- Last season, we finished 5 points off Top 4. We told Bayern to f**k off when they wanted Colwill and are improving Palmer's current contract. We are also adding more players to improve our depth in Tosin, KDH, Veiga, and potentially more.

I have watched a ton of extended replies of our games past season. Not games that we've lost but from the wins. Funny how Conor seems to be a star in most of them. He either scores, assists or wins the ball back before a goal.

Maresca loves versatile players and if anything Conor is versatile as he can create, pressure, defend and run like hell.

I have no idea why we are selling him.

We are negotiating a new deal, but if no agreement is reached we have to sell him. It's that simple.

Atletico Madrid are "extremely confident" of securing a deal to sign Chelsea and England midfielder Conor Gallagher, 24. (Team Talk)

Good luck to him and I hope he wins fk loads. He deserves it and he'll always bleed blue in my eyes.

The money will be pi$$ poor from this mob though.

Can see them paying €50m for Samu Ommrudion from Atletico Madrid. You just know we are bound to do something stupid in the market. A normal club would trust Guiu who has an insane potential to provide competition for Jackson & Nkunku but we aren’t a normal club.

Thought Clearlake would have flogged him by now, mind you they are fumbling the Trev sale so clearly I wasn't wrong about their efficiency.

Fumbling the Trev sale? Not their fault that nobody wants to buy this amazing CB for £30m 🤷‍♂️

There is no way Todd and Co. don't know about this place and don't actively read posts! (from the word on the street)

Part of me really wishes they did mate.

Why? They should be back in the squad on the 29th iirc.

Worried about them getting injured because of how vital they are to the team?

Shouldn't they get used to maresca tactics and playing style?

Maybe they're getting a headstart on his replacement's tactics so they can really hit the ground running in January when he comes in.

Arsenal finished 2nd because they picked up White and Saliba. If we had them we'd be challenging for title. Well Saliba came through the ranks think he joined as an 18 year old. Best defender at the Euros. White is 26 and was 23 when Arsenal signed him from.... Brighton after one season.

Really the talent spotting was good for L'Arse
