July 30, 20241 yr Gallagher would be a better 8 than Enzo but I don't think there has ever been any consensus on this forum that he was a certain starter. He does represent the club culture well though and I'll be sorry to seem him go, whereas I didn't miss Mount at all. It's not like we didn't know this was coming. Him leaving 's been talked about for 12 months. If he stays then Enzo has to play 6 and there's no room for either Lavia or Dewsbury Hall and Ugo and Carney get even less minutes. We have too many quality midfielders and not enough quality defenders.
July 30, 20241 yr The club will be annoyed that they haven’t got Mount type money for him. Interesting that none of the big clubs have come in for him. Time to say bye to Conor guys.

July 30, 20241 yr If he has to go, id rather it be out of England and I couldn't think of a more perfect fit for Conor to be honest.
July 30, 20241 yr Happy if he goes to a club outside of England, even if it means we get a smaller transfer fee. To wade in on the KDH thing, I think he's a better player than Gallagher but that's just my opinion, but it's a bit gutting to see Gallagher go even if it does make sense to sell.

Never really watched KDH play, so don't know much about him, but I find it odd he was never called up to any England squad at any age group. Not a good sign is it?

Not a good sign is it? He isn’t better than Conor IMO, and he would be found out in the PL. Fans are going by his Championship form where he was playing for the best team in the league. I would be surprised if he is a starter come Dec.

My issue isn't the impending departure, it's the paltry fee, especially when compared to the fee that they expect for their done nothing centre forward.
July 30, 20241 yr Atletico is almost a perfect move for Gallagher. Under Simeone, I can see him thriving similar to Llorente. Their football isn't that reliant on players having a golden touch but moreso aggression and workrate. The very reason why Simeone f**ked Joao Felix off. He gets consistent Champions League football, challenges for domestic trophies and plays under one of the most stable managers in Europe. Best part is we don't get to see him in another Premier League kit. Edited July 30, 20241 yr by Sconnie Blue

Going from demanding £50m to settling for £29m is just laughable. Would be interesting to see how much they get for other 10 players they intend to get rid of of. You just hope someone has the sense to add a sell on fee because he will be back in the PL for a big fee in 3yrs.

July 30, 20241 yr These owners are sh*t, it's bad enough that they are selling fan favourites, but selling them for such a pathetic sum of money when they are happy to spend ludicrous money on players who have barely started their careers is a joke. They are doing everything they can to be hated by the fans, but they don't give a sh*t, we're just money to them.

Maybe just maybe there are clubs out there who offer sensible money for decent players and end up doing smart business. I know this concept is alien to us under these crap owners and SDs because we've thrown more money than this on nobodies like Disasi, Madueke, Jackson and downright crap like Badiashile and Mudryk. And still we're throwing silly money at any and every teenager. This just reminds us there are clubs who do sensible business too. Edited July 30, 20241 yr by Nick05
July 30, 20241 yr Assuming the 35M euro figure is correct, we spent more money on the following players under these owners: - Dewsbury-Hall - Lavia - Disasi - Jackson - Fofana - Mudryk - Cucurella - Sterling - Koulibaly - Badiashile - Madueke

July 30, 20241 yr Fans need to stop getting attached to academy players you now see the business model so don’t get attached. Chelsea will be the biggest providers of players around the top 5 leagues in Europe soon enough.

Doesn't mean we have to be happy about it, frustration needs to be vented and we need to make the directors aware come match days at the bridge.
July 30, 20241 yr I haven’t done the work on fees, but he only has a year left on his contract. A year ago his contract would have cost nearly double what it’s worth today.

He's not just an academy product though, he's everything the fans feel is a good representation of what it means to play for Chelsea. He loves the club, he and his family grew up as Chelsea fans, his efforts on the pitch show this. He may not be the most gifted footballer in the team, but you need this at the club, somebody the fans can point at and say "that's Chelsea" He's the connection between the fans and the players, and after James, there is nobody else you can look at yet and feel that same connection. Our owners not getting that and only looking at him as somebody to sell for over a year now is everything wrong with these types of owners. He's nothing more than a small asset to them.

I don't think it has anything to do with academy, homegrown or anything like that. Has has now got a portfolio in front of him of playing in the most competitive league in Europe, of consistently being a first team choice, a club captain, of having held down loans elsewhere as a youngster, to gain experience, and to have worked through the international ranks to become part of the senior squad of FIFA's 4th ranked international side in world football. The fee we are talking about here is under half of what Atletico currently rate Omorodion at (who has played under 40 top flight games in his entire career) and for a slightly larger fee than we paid Aston Villa for Kellyman, who, i think has played 2 top flight matches.
