More of a close range finisher though. Very good head in front of goal. Yes I think there is some thing of Lampard in him, likes to run into the attacking zone and though his shot is not a s good as Frank's he normally get it in or at least gets a decent save. His odd strike from distance is also a good asset.

December 14, 20214 yr He'll be back for sure. Do wonder where he's going to play for us. Against lesser teams I think he could do very well in the role Loftus Cheek had v Leeds. Needs someone like Jorginho behind him though to thread him through into space in that case. Gallagher-Kante combo for example wouldn't work in my opinion. Against the best clubs I can imagine he'd have a role in the front three.

Seems like a Gerrard-type of player to me.
December 14, 20214 yr Simon Johnson explains why Billy and Conor can't come back in Jan... essentially it's because they've played too many matches https://theathletic.com/news/chelsea-unable-to-recall-either-conor-gallagher-or-billy-gilmour-due-to-loan-deal-clause/N5PSuv5MfWfl/ Edited December 14, 20214 yr by chiefBlueCFC

The midfielders have impressed in recent weeks, leading to speculation that Chelsea could move to recall either Gallagher or Gilmour — or both — from their loan spells at rival Premier League clubs. But The Athletic understands the duo have made enough appearances for their loan sides to prevent a January recall break clause being activated by their parent club. December 14, 20214 yr I feel like they started playing Billy more just so we can't get him back. Edited December 14, 20214 yr by sonic90

Very2 simple, either sign a dm and switch to back 4 or play 352. Then you can have a million combination in midfield with mount, gallagger, havertz, kante ,kova
December 15, 20214 yr I'd like to see Gallagher in the Barkley/Kovacic role under Sarri. 433 with him as the 'attacking' midfielder. Either that or Gallagher and Mount either side of a proper DM like Rice.
December 16, 20214 yr So Gallagher was poor last night v Southhampton. Gave the ball away in the attack that Broja scored from and was rarely given the ball in what I saw. Funny how it goes, all the attack went down Palace's left side. Must say considering he is playing in the midfield young Conor wasn't doing much in defence. He has a great future but last night was not his best performance in my opinion
December 16, 20214 yr Sounds like a young player then. The difference between good day and a bad one is big. Palace is a great place for now for him to grow.

January 26, 20224 yr As I mentioned in the Broja thread a few clubs are reported to be pushing to sign Connor up this windows, among them Palace and West Ham. Like Broja I don't want that to happen, seems like we might be willing to deal so long as we recieve a good fee and have a buyback fee attached, or at the very least a match highest bid clause. Would be typical us to sell Gallagher and Broja to pay for Dembele won't it?
January 26, 20224 yr Again, that would be ridiculous given how much he’s progressed this season. He should be in the first team next season and be playing regular games. He’s again the midfielder we are missing, with quality and a goal threat.

Seems like selling our youth to balance to books is our best option as we cannot shift the deadwood in the squad due to their huge wages and transfer fees.
January 27, 20224 yr He's the one player that the club won't let go, he has the same amount of goals as Mount in the league so I'm looking forward to see the two of them making a nice partnership in the midifeld or further up behind the striker.

Does that actually balance the books as our wages will still be high? I reckon a better solution in this situation will be to sell them to another club & keep covering their wages, like Utd with Rooney & Suarez.
March 15, 20224 yr Brilliant against Man City tonight, looking more and more like he could be a Kante replacement/back up given his injury issues
