Agree with that but who is realistically going to pay anything for Maatsen in Jan when he is a free agent in the summer? Think that goes to arbitration to determine a fee. We will be lucky to get £10m considering he joined us in 2018, and is yet to earn a Dutch cap. We had offers for £25m from Nottingham in the summer but apparently we demanded a £50m fee from Bayern due to the length of his contract. We would be lucky to get £20m in Jan considering he is not 5th/6th choice CB and been out injured since the summer.

We have the option to extend Maatsens contract by a further year.

Lol.. I am not suggesting they should sell him, but the reality is he has said he needs to be playing regularly. He is reluctant to sign a new contract until the picture becomes clearer when everyone is fit.

I am not sure the board will risk him running into the last year of his contract. The Maatsen situation has  blown up in their faces with him rejecting a £31m move in the summer and now basically running down his contract. I reckon they will force Gallagher’s hands one way or the other in the Jan window.

I didn't mean you mate, it's more the mentalists who are arguing between themselves whether he's garbage and needs sold now or suddenly brilliant because he's captain. It's hilarious how black and white everything is in their strangely little f**ked up world.

Not really a surpise, selling academy player is 🤑🤑🤑🤑 especially with the way Connor is playing right now.

Nkunku/Mudryk - Borja/Jackson - Sterling /Palmer

Carney /Conor - Enzo/Lavia

Caicedo/ugo

That is already 12 player for 6 positions. If you want to increase the value of casedei n santos, you need to sell Connor.

We have no other swiss army-knife -type player in midfield so I think Conor could well be offered a new deal. BUT he is money as they say. We could get 60m of him if we sold him in January.

What will happen to casedei n santos if we give Conor a long term contract?

Still be on loan. They are 19 and 20 years old on long term contracts. Either they develop to the level required that can compete against our current midfield or we sell at an enormous profit.

Gallagher is tricky, as I have no idea what the club want to do with him.

Shouldn't be a case of what the club wants to do with him. He has been playing well and skippering the side and he is clearly part of Pochettino's plans so he shouldn't be going anywhere.

Along with Man City monitoring Ian Maatsens situation, believing his versatility could be as big an asset to the them as another ex Chelsea product who could not get games here(Ake). Liverpool are said to be very interested in Conor and his camp knows about said interest.

In theory, he's easily replaceable by one of the half dozen young MF we signed. In reality, those players haven't got much chance to prove themselves, and Gallagher has been playing well, so a big risk if we let him go in the next window. I wouldn't fancy Levia takes his spot, just make the midfield way too one dimensional

You won't be able to sell them for enormous profit unless you play them.

Unless they develop at their loan. Angelo we got for £13 million and I reckon in two years time he will be close to £30-50m if he continues his trajectory.

It feels apparent to me that the board would like to capitalise on his value. They may even need to.

The challenge though is that unlike every other player, Gallagher might refuse to be sold.

So extending his contract presents a risk.

Sorry all - I love his spirit, endeavor and work rate, but he just isn't good enough.  I know its tough to see from academy products, but he is too slow and ineffective on the ball.  Next match, watch how many touches he takes prior to releasing, and when on the ball his head is often down, and then too often the ball is sent back to where it game from.

He needs to offer more from midfield.  Limited assists, no goals.  Unpopular opinion, and not going after just him, but he is not good enough to me.

On today's showing same could be said of £115m man Caicedo.

Totally fair comment.  We don't get enough product from our midfield.

It is so frustrating but it was only a week ago our midfield totally dominated the gooners.

It seems one step forward two steps back this season. I honestly thought we'd have learnt from playing sides like Brentford and coming unstuck in the past but no, same old story again today. Inexcusable. Still feel it could all be solved by having a striker who could actually trouble the opposition and score goals. That would relieve so much pressure on the rest of the team. Have no faith in Jackson at all - he's woeful.

I've been saying it all season, he gets a lot of praise for running around a lot.

He offers very little outside of that, slows the play down, takes too many touches, gives the ball away too much, poor in the final 3rd.

I'll be very disappointed if he's starting when all of our team is fit, if Palmer and Enzo are fit, he shouldn't be starting.

He's lacking basic qualities expected of the positions he is taking up. When is he going to create something? when is going to score a goal? He can't play a through ball, he can't get a shot off. His passes aren't clean, they are never perfectly weighted, they are a bit behind or too far in front of the player. He doesn't see a pass, he doesn't have tight control of the ball. This is the reality.

Sport can be brutal, he probably wants to be a success more than any other player we have, and we all want it too. He's a Chelsea fan and from the academy, but the simple fact is doesn't have the quality. You won't be rewarded in sport for being nice and rewarding a player because they are trying, talent is what matters.

That's one thing about Conor that bothers me, he's been decent the last few games, but the weight of the pass is always lacking.

I've seen it many times on a counter attack he'll play a poor ball in, sort of like Sterling did at the start of the game today for Cole Palmer.

I would love it if I'm proven wrong, but I just don't see what most other people are seeing when it comes to Conor, I wouldn't be against selling him, but I'm not for selling him either. I think he's a good squad player but nothing more than that.
