November 7, 20232 yr 1 assist 95% pass accuracy 5 key passes 1 big chance created 6 duels won 2 interceptions 3 tackles Another great game in such a big fixture for us.

November 7, 20232 yr He's been outstanding in this team so far for me. For a reason he is one of the first names on the team sheet for Pochettino.

One of his biggest fans on here I am, but Modric is a genius player, with fantastic technique. Work rate, covering ground, being available sure I can see it, but Conor is nowhere near Modric on a technical level.

November 7, 20232 yr Looks like we have the new Enzo thread. He was poor yesterday and you wouldn't know he was playing if it wasn't for the hair, his been poor for a number of games. He plays abit in a no man's position, doesn't have the discipline for a midfield 2 but doesn't do nowhere near enough in the final third, against low block teams there is no point in him playing. I'm sure the stats against Spurs are top draw, just like Jacksons. I'm sure if I go in the Poch thread I will find we play the most attractive football as we have the highest average xg.

Think last night was obvious were far from a finished side. Patterns of pay still need working through. Players knowing what their positions entail. A few things he tries dont always come off but didnt want hm sold in the summer and can definitely see him establishing himself and think he's been good so far this season for us. He probably does need a few more goals to his name, but certainly a metronome in the making for us.
November 12, 20232 yr Anyone worried that CFC aren't paying enough for Conor Gallagher as he has holes in his socks?
November 12, 20232 yr One of the first names on the teamsheet. If Nkunku hits it off from the start when he's back I reckon our midfield needs to be Caicedo, Gallagher & Palmer slightly ahead of them.

Caicedo and Enzo are the main two for that position and it will need to stay that way. Gallagher is not the same player when you put him there, you need positional discipline and Gallagher doesn't have it because he's an all action type of player. Once Nkunku is fit, I think it will come down to the type of opposition we play. Against teams sitting back, I would rather player Palmer in Gallagher's position and have somebody else on the wing.

Yet they were our worst two players today. It will all be about rotation but on current form, Gallagher would retain his place ahead of Enzo and Caicedo.

Seems to have stepped up big time. I don’t think he would have been the same player if we had kept Mount. I still think long term he would turn out to be the better of the 2.

Not in a deeper position he wouldn't, which is what the post I was replying to was talking about. I've already seen enough of Gallagher in a deeper position to know that it doesn't work. Also, you're making out like Caicedo and Enzo had a bad game, they had a fine game without being eye catching.

After Enzo went off today he was deeper beside Caicedo and I thought he was much, much better than Enzo there too. Even elevated Caicedo when he was beside him.
November 12, 20232 yr I agree with Scott, I can never doubt Conor in the big games, always puts in a good performance. I still think you want Palmer in the middle for the rest of the games. Enzo had a good first half I thought, both him and Caicedo weren't bad they just didn't stand out IMO. I would still want that pivot for the majority of our games. A mid-game against City doesn't change that.

Said last winter we had to make a choice between the two going forward, they offered too much of the same strengths and weaknesses and got in each others way so badly it was like we were down to 9 men (when they played together). Looks like we've made the right decision (well i say decision it was largely by accident of a lot of factors) Gallagher looks light years above anything we've seen from Mount since 2021.

Gallagher can do a job wherever. Some of his passing today was brilliant. We get back in the game today with that 3rd goal when Gallagher has the ball on the edge of our box and pings the ball out wide, then gets forward to make the shot, which resulted in Jackson scoring from the rebound. Enzo and Caicedo have been okay, but I want to see a whole lot more from both of them.
November 12, 20232 yr Some players can set the beat, the tempo, for the whole team. Kante used to it for us. His work rate, his athleticism, his stamina. He could cover every blade of grass in 90 minutes and contribute all over the pitch. Connor is the player who can set the tempo for us now.

Just give game time to who deserves it. Since the start of the season, I can't think of who has been more consistent and reliable than Connor. Shows up, never injured, good attitude even when his own fans were against him and quite verbal that he WANTS to play for Chelsea everytime a sale or transfer has been mooted. If I was Poch, I'll be low key upset I didn't make him captain rather than James. Your team captain needs to be on the pitch. And whilst James has been unlucky with injuries, I really do think there are a few better options than him as captain in the team.
