September 1, 20232 yr f**king love Conor and I wouldn't trade him for any other player. I don't care if he's not world class, we need players like him in the squad. Always available, never complains, loves the club. As long as he's happy being here I'd gladly keep him.

He might not be the pick of the squad ability wise but he more than makes up for it in other areas and is still a very decent player to have as an option. Would have been unforgiveable to sell him to Spurs, just days after he wore the captains armband. Hope he stays for many seasons to come.
September 1, 20232 yr I like the lad but I don't rate him, so I wouldn't be too upset selling him. I don't think he's Chelsea material if I'm being honest. However, now is really not the best time to sell him considering the lack of options we have right now with the injuries.

I was actually sad all day thinking he might be sold to Spurs. Was counting the minutes for the window to close and for him to stay. Would have made this a terrible window in my view, regardless of any other business we did.

I guess it's hard to justify keeping him for this role if teams are prepared to spend £50-60m on him but I feel he's the perfect player to pad out what will hopefully turn into a title winning squad. I'd have said it was probably best to sell him had we kept Mount (they have too many similar strengths and weaknesses to coexist in the same set up) but now he's gone I feel we absolutely should keep Gallagher around.
September 1, 20232 yr I just like he takes no sh*t from opposition players and he’s getting better. If anyone can improve him Poch can
September 1, 20232 yr What I really don't seem to understand though is some fans on here that gave a lot of us umbrage at saying we could do better than a talented Mount, who applied himself poorly most times and wasn't committed to Chelsea now are so cool and ok with Connor being sold. I agree less talented than Mount but his commitment and passion to Chelsea is one Mount can't come near,at least what he showed in his last season. Plus he is now Chelsea's oldest player following our revamp and by Chelsea I mean ,one of our own, along with James.

Someday someone should explain "Chelsea material" to me, and how to identfy it.
September 2, 20232 yr Happy we didn't sell him, you can't do a squad overhaul every season, need a bit of stability even without the injuries factor. He always wanted to stay, be a kick in the teeth to send him to Spurs, even it's 45M pure profit.

September 2, 20232 yr Not Chelsea standard. Never has been, Never will be. I love his passion as much as the next guy, but come on, who are we kidding with Conor? What does he actually contribute to match winning moments.
September 3, 20232 yr Im okay with him on the team but dont think he should be starting. I think Enzo should be playing beside Caicedo and a more advanced player like Palmer up there with Jackson and Sterling

That's codeword for not having an argument apparently. When I said he wasn't Chelsea material, I obviously didn't mean it in the sense that he's not good on the ball, his build-up play is slow and sloppy, and he runs around like a headless chicken. No, it means that I just don't rate him for whatever reason and have no argument.
September 17, 20232 yr Shocking around the goal absolutely shocking few times a better past from him and we are in!!
September 17, 20232 yr Just does not have the required quality in the key moments. Nice lad, but about as ruthless as a new born puppy.
September 17, 20232 yr Still undecided. Love his attitude and effort. Some things he does really well but in key moments he usually comes up short. The pass in to Jackson was a straightforward ball and would have put him one on one with the keeper. Gallagher fooked it up completely.
September 17, 20232 yr Lacking a bit of quality, but if Caceido played instead of Gallagher, we wouldn't even have those easy chances he forked up.
