I don't think he should be ahead of the likes of Palmer, Carney, or Nkunku though if I'm being honest. But because our players can't stay fit to save their lives he's going to get a lot of game time anyway. 

And therein lies the truth - we need a quality squad.  If everyone was fit and knew their roles, I'm not sure Conor would be starting games for Chelsea.  Quality bench player though, and perhaps there are some occasions where his style is better suited.  But, reality is, players just do not stay fit, and he continues to make himself available, and also improve. Actually really enjoying his progress right now

I've finally come down off the fence on Conor. We'd be nuts to let him leave. Any team would be better with his work rate and athleticism. His decision making is improving nicely too IMO.

He’s earned his place in our squad for sure. I don’t think anyone would match his work rate or commitment. Just want to see more composure and end product in critical game moments. But all credit to the lad.

Nkunku wont find it too difficult, need more players who can do something in the final third. The praise for Gallagher is OTT but I get the positives have been lacking so far so fans need to find something, looks like a headless chicken most of the time.

Beginning of the season i would have sold him no doubt. 

It would have being a huge mistake.

He has improved tremendously. Very strong player and an important one for our team. Delighted with Gallagher.

Carney aye, no doubt that if Conor continues to grow and Enzo improves rather than drop one of them, or Moises, Poch drops Broja/Jackson and plays Nkunku up top imo.

It will be harder and harder for poch to drop Conor going forward if he continue to play like this. He does a little bit of everything and he press like crazy that is just a good baseline to start any game. 

Got an assist today .. win so many balls back.. players like him .. selfless they are win you championships..

Report was that they'd talk about what is best for both parties. Could mean new deal. Could mean they still want to sell. 

Pochettino plays him all the time and made him captain, he now has more influence on transfers so would expect he will want Conor to stay, Conor loves the club no doubt he wants to stay.

Probably the ownership want money though.

They need to balance the books & improve the squad without European football; Gallagher, Broja, Maatsen & Chalobah will be prime candidates as they are all pure profit. 
The players also know signing a new contract means nothing to our owners, they can turn around the next day & put you on the market (see Chalobah). Maatsen is already in the final year of his contract and has had a few contract offers put in front of him, fully expect him to be sold in Jan or he will walk for free. Gallagher will be in the final 18mths come Jan and probably the window to maximise his transfer fee. If when everyone one is fit he is behind Nkunku in the pecking order and stuck on the bench, can’t see many takers in the summer for £50m with him In the last year of his contract.

I totally respect and understand this line of thinking. But I don't agree.

Conor has been, in my opinion, our best midfielder so far this season. His numbers exceed Rice's at Arsenal and are comparable to Kante's 20/21 season with us (admittedly, small sample size right now). Plus he offers more in the final third than either of those two.

He may be pure profit, but he has a profile that will need replacing, and I don't think you can do that for less than £60m.

Some of our fans are incredible, we must have the only fanbase in football that have constant arguments over whether we should pick the current captain who graduated through the academy, or should sell him immediately....

I think it's a coping mechanism as the reality is if we get an appropriate offer for any of our academy players, they are getting sold.

Lol.. I am not suggesting they should sell him, but the reality is he has said he needs to be playing regularly. He is reluctant to sign a new contract until the picture becomes clearer when everyone is fit.

I am not sure the board will risk him running into the last year of his contract. The Maatsen situation has blown up in their faces with him rejecting a £31m move in the summer and now basically running down his contract. I reckon they will force Gallagher’s hands one way or the other in the Jan window.

Maatsen and Chalobah should realistically be the only ones up for sale.  

Not sure how the club can watch Gallagher this season and still think he's disposable.

Agree with that but who is realistically going to pay anything for Maatsen in Jan when he is a free agent in the summer? Think that goes to arbitration to determine a fee. We will be lucky to get £10m considering he joined us in 2018, and is yet to earn a Dutch cap. We had offers for £25m from Nottingham in the summer but apparently we demanded a £50m fee from Bayern due to the length of his contract. We would be lucky to get £20m in Jan considering he is not 5th/6th choice CB and been out injured since the summer.
