People writing off our title chances after just because of this game is a bit kneejerk. Both City and liverpool have dropped points like these this season in even worse states. Liverpool literally gave away a 2-0 lead a week ago. Our record over the past couple of weeks has been great given the number of injuries we had, today that just finally caught up to us.

Feels like a loss, still top but definitely 2 points dropped.

Liverpool fan Sean Dyche will be over the moon with that.

Our lack of being ruthless up front will probably cost us in the League.

Liverpool with their clinical forwards would of won that 4-1.

Need our strikers back after the international break as the games will be coming thick and fast.

I don´t want to hear about tactics, line-ups and sh*t. The chances they created, any top flight player should have 6-7 goals. This was hilariously and sadly probably the most dominant display they had all season and that´s why they lacked concentration in front of goal. It was the same for Liverpool against Brighton. They were up 2-0 and Salah was alone in the box and he tried to flick the ball into the middle with the outside of his boot. He tried to embarrass them and laughed it off, when it failed. If that was 0-0, no way does he try some f****** like that. Today our players behaved the same way. They simply did not focus in front of goal, because it was too easy, until it wasn´t.

He isn't a player we can rely on and we have been here for years with him saying the same things. Nice lad but not what a top team needs. 

Barkley and Odoi are all razzle dazzle until It matters, the end product from them is woeful.

Conor scores again for Crystal Palace. We need him back next year simply Bc he is a goal scoring mid. We have too many tippy tappy players that cannot put the ball in the net. Still, we got what, 13 points of the last 15 against the bottom half of the table? Not the end of the world.

That being said this felt like the perfect match for Lukaku to break down a well-organized defense.

Liverpool have beaten Burnley at home twice in five seasons.

Don't be surprised if we end up with a few more results like this in the future, it's going to happen because our finishing is so terrible. Every other part of the of this team is complete, but the finishing is nowhere near good enough.

As both those clubs did exactly 7 days ago. No team will win all the games they are supposed to do. City win dominate games and not score enough, while Liverpool’s defence  will let goals slip.

We’ve had two of our main forwards out this past 3 weeks and other offensive players out injured and we are still having  a good run and top of the league. 
 

I’m frustrated with the result today but those results are expected. 

We got complacent at the back and upfront.

Our player should spend the 2 weeks practicing their finishing. 

This is beyond comprehension how we managed to drop points in this game...We should have finished that game in the first 10 minutes.

It's not like Lukaku was smashing them in before his injury. I remember him missing a few simple chances himself or just not doing enough to get involved in the game.

I don't see how he would have made a difference today anyway. Havertz scored a goal and had a shot brilliantly blocked by the defender, put Lukaku in the same position and it's the same outcome. The problem wasn't the striker, it was the players around the striker. Hudson-Odoi had 3 chances, 2 he should have scored from, Christensen had a free header, Barkley's shot on the edge of the box, Thiago Silva's header that hit the post. At the very least, one of them should have been a goal.

That sample size is skewed considering Lukaku played in matches where we had tougher opposition before his injury which would obviously equate to less chances.

I know we should have won but some of the posts here have been a bit too negatively kneejerked. 

 

I thought barkley was brilliant untill that miss and he got subbed. I feel like he should have stayed on and he should have taken kante off for RLC. Its insane that we didn’t win this game. I don’t give a f**k about liverpool. We need to be clinical and kill the game earlier

Today I saw Man City having 2:0 lead and still going forward and non-stop passing, in the long run that kind of effort will pay off.

Gotta lol at the Daily Manc (Sportsmail). The Chelsea match was like the 14th article down when we were up 1-0 now it’s the front page after dropped points. Expect a “Chelsea in crisis” article any day now.

Man City is a level above us in their attacking play atm. Although they did waste a lot of chances today as well

That's fair, the players around Havertz should have done better today, Barkley especially should have scored from the position he was in. However, I though feel if Lukaku was on the pitch and was in the same position as some of these players when they had their chances, the odds of him scoring would have been higher. This performance looked like it was one pulled out from last season where we dominated all game but missed all our chances and it was performances like those that we bought Lukaku.

Lukaku also hasn't scored against Soton, Brentford and Spuds. I'd wait before passing judgements on how effective/ineffective Lukaku is to the team but right now we score more without him.

They were 16 shots 5 on target and 68% possession. Hardly any different.

What's different is they scored 1 more than us.

Exactly, even Pool will drop ridiculous points. 

The team needs to dust off this result, enjoy the break then go again against Leicester.
