January 26, 20224 yr If we do sign him it looks more likely to be a contract agreement now, with him moving on a free in the summer.

If he did indeed want Lukaku and Saul that continues to raise questions about it. Hey now, I distinctly remember Saul completing a couple passes and making a few tackles about 3 weeks ago when he played for the 4th time this season. He’s turning a corner!
January 29, 20224 yr Based purely on the ever credible tabloid media it is looking more and more likely that Utd or Chelsea are the most likely to buy Dembele. Injury record at Barca has been pretty shocking and his wage demand is going to be a monster. But he is still young and his fee will be relatively low. I'd be happy if we rolled the dice and gambled on him. Has more ability than any of our current options if he can get anywhere near the player he was at Dortmund. We look massively short of ideas up front and maybe just need a little injection of 'something new' to inject a bit of life over the rest of the season. If it gives us that boost and we secure a top four finish it will have been money we'll spent. Can't see anyone else being an option at this late stage in the window.
January 29, 20224 yr As frustrating as CHO can be and fit less than Pulisic. Oh yeah, sounds great. 300k a week you say? Bad apple you say? Wunderbar.
January 29, 20224 yr Reports saying he will cost £18m. I don't like the look of this guy and why pay now when you get him free in the summer any way. He's cup tied in the CL as well. Worthless.

He is a far superior player to Odoi. They aren't even in the same country let alone the same ballpark. But yes the injury thing is clearly a massive gamble.

Christ we might even get that for Pulisic and he can't even impress for America! Not arsed about the cup tied thing. I just feel we might need a little injection to reinvigorate the squad and I don't see any other option just now.
January 29, 20224 yr He won't be cup tied. CL rules changed a few years back where you can register 1 player only who played for a different side in the group stages. Is irrelevant though as we are not signing anyone for the first team this window. Edited January 29, 20224 yr by axman2526

Not happening this Jan anyway; we will need to get rid of one of our forwards to make space, and no one has been linked with a move away. In the summer it will be a lazy transfer and typical Chelsea move, Rafinha & Bowen look better options
January 30, 20224 yr He has totally the wrong mindset to be a real winner. Selfish and with an overinflated ego. Gassed on his own hype. - His fitness issues aside I wouldn't want him. Add those in and he becomes a truely dreadful prospect. He'd be on mega money and since he's young likely a long deal. We'd never shift him when he ineveitably causes trouble or doesn't perform/gets injured. Ducavis is right, Bowen and Rafinha are much more enticing propositions if we're looking for a winger. Dembele is dressing room poison.

Just because Barca were mental enough to slap down 140 large for him back when he'd showed a season of promise in Rennes, a decent season at Dortmund and had a market value 1/5th that price.

Or is it just another case of a player who looked "great" in the Bundesliga ? Sancho is hardly pulling up trees at United, and he had far superior numbers for Dortmund than Dembele did ... Dembele's current career numbers basically look like a slightly worse Salomon Kalou - I think we need to aim for better than that ? DEMBELE KALOU

Oh I'm not saying he is a word beater. Barcelona were in money heaven when they pissed that up the wall for him. They would have thrown 100m at Terry Hurlock at that time! I still say he is much better than Odoi who, it's no secret, I don't rate at all.

I'm growing impatient with CHO too, but getting - another- 300 bags a week inconsistent winger who's also a big headed injury prone fartsniffer? Hard paaaasss. Let him chase the money at Newcastle and we'll take Saint Maximin off their hands. A player with an actual work ethic.
January 30, 20224 yr Although reports are over the map when it comes where he will end up in the next couple of days; one I read is that Spurs are also in for him. Him and Conte will be a perfect match with his work ethic 🤣🤣

I really like Saint-Maximin, really exciting to watch, but the last thing we need is another attacker with poor end product 😄
January 30, 20224 yr PSG trying hard to make that team even more unbalanced than it already is. From a front three than won't track back to a front four that won't track back to save their life. Fair enough.
January 30, 20224 yr Another potential bargain missed out on, can’t wait for the rest of the season relying on random worldies and defenders to score goals
January 30, 20224 yr Chelsea already have too many forwards who can't score. Why add another one who can't score and spends too much time in the training room?

January 31, 20224 yr This is the quiet before storm. BREAKING NEWS CHELSEA AGREE DEAL TO SEND ACADEMY PLAYER OUT ON LOAN
January 31, 20224 yr https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2022/1/31/22910567/ousmane-dembele-not-leaving-barcelona-now-but-prefers-chelsea-report Staying at Barca as not even PSG were interested in paying 20mill for him. Apparently he prefers us and a summer free move is possible. Speaking of players leaving on frees, hopefully we are trying to boost the squad with both Sule and Kesse. Cannot go wrong with freebies
January 31, 20224 yr Personally I think if Dembele was worth signing Liverpool would have tried to sign him. They were great instincts for signing attacking players.
