August 7, 20232 yr After that positive pre-season things are looking bleak once more. We can't make a deal and now Nkunku is out for a couple of months.

While it wouldn't surprise knowing our luck with injuries that source is questionable at best. I would wait until somebody more reliable confirms anything.
August 7, 20232 yr Wonder if we'll have the most injuries again this season. Certainly seems like the curse is yet to be lifted.
August 7, 20232 yr That would be rather unfortunate, and we'll see plenty of Murdryk, Maatsan and Chukwuemeka. Wonder what the status is with Madueke. Really hoping that is unreliable source. Its strangely similar to the impact knee injury that also kept him out of WC.

There are big gaps in the early fixtures I assume for International games , so hopefully not as many missed games. ?

We only have 3 PL games Aug and 3 in Sep, so that helps. Still leaves 80%+ of season, ready for our November rally (this year will be different)
August 7, 20232 yr Maybe this is just denial but surely we'd have seen a club statement by now if that news is true?
August 7, 20232 yr Being a Chelsea fan isn't for the faint of heart. Had to be the last game of pre season didn't it, disappointing to say the least as Jackson, Nkunku looked like a great partnership either excellent chemistry both on and off the field. Have to sign a top attacker now, can't rely on Sterling (who I think will have a good season despite the negativity around him from some fans) and Jackson as our primary goalscorers.
August 7, 20232 yr Going without Nkunku for months would instantly ruin our season. He's the big player in our team right now, the one expected to make things happen when we are struggling. Like Tottenaham losing Kane, Liverpool losing Salah, and United losing Rashford or Casemiro.
August 7, 20232 yr We have two international breaks in the meantime and our schedule before Arsenal on October 21 is relatively easy. We should be fine.

At same time, I always feel the less we hear from the club, the worse the injury is. For example, there was rumours from reliable journalists last week that he will be out for weeks rather than months, however the club did not report it, which makes me worry that they are thinking the severity could be worse.
August 7, 20232 yr We'll assume the source is reliable, although I'm highly dubious of an account that has about 700 followers being the only one reporting so for now I don't believe it, but I think our depth is good enough for it to not be TOO damaging assuming it's only a couple of months.

August 7, 20232 yr Great start to the season. The best player and only one actually out of diapers we’ve signed and he’s gonna miss a chunk of the season. And a knee injury. Notoriously difficult to get over. We better sign someone, Vlahovic probably, or we’ll likely be trailing the other fourth place chasers before we even reach October.
August 7, 20232 yr We knew his injury record was poor when he signed, this is not about being unlucky, it was inevitable. The frustrating thing is we have players at the club who we simply cannot build a team around due to their bodies, there is a asterisks over their name permanently. Fofana had a horrific injury record before we signed him but we did so anyway, it’s mind blowing.
