Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea

As soon as I saw that 2 bob pitch I suspected trouble ahead, what a shhh-iterr losing the stand out pre season player who unlike most of the squad can find the back of the net.  Jackson - showed promise but inexperienced at EPL level so an unknown, Mudrick - I don't get the hype on here, he can run fast ! so what zero end product displayed to date in proper matches, one good goal in pre season nowt else. The other attackers goal chances - worse than Mudrick imo,  especially Sterling 😂 . Lets be honest not delusional just because we have a proper manager now doesn't mean these players will suddenly become Ronaldoesque in front of goal.

If Bully & Co dont bring in a player of his caliber up front then team will struggle again, we all know no club can make up lost ground, one must get off to a good start to compete and keep up with the chasing pack. Which is where of course we all want or team to be again.

So if Hummels doesnt steam through him you think he still gets this injury? It wasnt the pitch at fault, it wasnt the fact we played a game thats at fault, its horrible luck he got injured, but players get injured all the time, this is an impact injury plain and simple.

Honestly I do. He injured himself trying to avoid the tackle . It wasn't the tackle that injured his left knee. It was when he planted his left trying to avoid the collision. Hence his injury been his left knee and not his right knee.

Either way we are f**ked . You are right that injuries happen and he could have injured himself in the shower but to get injured on that abysmal pitch just makes it a bitter peel to swallow

About 30+ players were on that pitch in the game, and I think other matches were played on it? Yet only 1 player got injured, it wasn't the pitches fault, it's just sh*t luck.

Two things can be right at the same time. It was the pitches fault and sh*t luck. If the sand dust that comes out of the pitch once Nkuku turns doesn't prove it then I don't know what will. The lad jarred his knee on that terrible pitch. Period.

So if I take 30 ppl through a minefield and only one person gets their leg blown off, is it the minefields fault?

That pitch was league 2 quality. At best.

I never really felt like Nkunku was a game changer for us this season because I was always convinced he's going to be injured for a large part.

Jackson and Mudryk are key for me.

I don't know why some think Hummels challenge is what caused it. The video clearly shows that his left ankle and knee twists before there is any contact with Hummels.

It was the pitch that caused the injury. It was a risk for any player that likes to dribble.

This screenshot doesn't really show much, position isn't that unnatural

The club signed him while knowing that he had a huge injury already and there was always this risk that he gets injured again, he just became another injury-prone player there is no way to go around that fact now.

I was hoping that he wouldn't be injury prone since he looks much stronger in comparison to let's say Pulisic, but it is what it is.

My screenshot is mainly to point out where it happened and that Hummels wasn't responsible for Nkunku's injury. Watch the video and slow it down. It shows him twist his ankle and knee as he goes to plant his foot, you also see his foot slide across the turf before it twists. This all happens before there is any contact with Hummels. The state of the pitch made him lose balance, causing his ankle and knee to twist.

Could return November at the earliest

Which would for all intents and purposes be mid December as throwing him in for the fixtures we have in that period would be a lot to ask.

This is where recovering even the conference league would have come in very handy.

Early to mid December seems to remain the hope for him returning to playing.

I reckon there is a good chance Nkunku returns as our striker. Pochettino appears to be a big fan of the trio of Enzo, Gallagher and Caicedo, so I don't think he drops any of the trio and that least up top or wide forward for Nkunku.

Think we'll get a better idea after this tough run of fixtures.

Hope we don't use him as a lone striker, he's played off another ST his whole career. We made the same mistake thinking Werner could lead the line on his own.

Poch saying he's back after the November international break.

Did he confuse him with Carney?

When he is fit and able to play he creates a good problem for Pochettino.

Does he play him in his best position as a 10/second striker and drop one of Gallagher or Enzo?

Does he move him to left or right and drop one of Sterling, Mudryk or Palmer?

Does he go the path of least resistance and play him as a striker, moving Jackson to the bench and Broja continues next to Fofana and Chilwell in the physio room?

Making the team function well while including the star man will prove tricky.
