Yeah its either Barcelona just trying to pressure United to pay up or the media running with the story after seeing Todd in Barcelona. I doubt we are after him. 

This should be a player we go after, on the same reasoning that we go for Sterling, minus him having no PL experience. I mean skillwise Frenkie de Jong right now is probably better than all of our central midfielders individually and with the contract's of Kanté and Jorginho ending next summer, there is a clear need for us to go for a top quality midfielder. His main position is DLP and many fans seem to wish that we find an upgrade on Jorginho anyway, which probably most fans agree he would be.

So with Boehly and Eghbali being in Barcelona to meet with Barca officials and Barca open to sell de Jong, am I right in assessing that most of you guys would be happy if this transfer could be realized?

I think the fact Boehly is in Barcelona is not a coincidence. 

Would we go to them to talk about deals for our own players (Azpi and Alonso)? I doubt it, not unless there was interest on our part in one of theirs.

No smoke without fire, I would think we were at least a little interested.

 

Getting Frenkie signed would also help us land Matt De Ligt his twin. De Twins at Chelsea.

Maybe we even move Jorghino on to Juve this summer?  Juve might like that.  Again helping out with the De Ligt signing.

Then Boehly and Eghbali could talk about Dave and Alonso going to Barca maybe?

Then we could flip a coin to see who gets to pay Dembele his wages?

And finally Flip a coin again to see who gets Raphina.

Lots to discuss.

De Jong is a good younger replacement for Jorginho 

If we sign FDJ then we simply have to sell one of Kante/Jorginho this summer.

No point leaving one on the bench in their last year.

Personally I'd let Kante go before Jorginho because we can't rely on him to be fit and we'd probably be able to get a decent fee based on his name alone.

I would keep Kante, because he is Kante. They.  They are Kante, there are at least two of them.

rotation. kante wont play every game and a mid is needed, Barca stinky though  Tod prob gets fleeced and the bill!

It's very odd how intertwined we are with Barca this summer. Would Boehly really go to Barcelona to sell some players? Surely Barca come to him... unless he's trying trying get a deal out of them

TB will want Kante's wages off the bill. Its a shame because he is a deity now, but your going to struggle to command that salary unless you are on it week in week out and injury free.

I think Kante still has a place with us but not at the top 200s p/w

Yeah heard it said that at the meeting we set the price of 3mill euros for Dave and 7mill euros for Alonso and are willing to either sell separately or include them in the De Jong deal, which would fund Barca to either resign Dembele or sign Raphinha.

Are we really expected to believe De Jong prefers Europa League football and the gift that keeps on giving which is Manchester United? 😂

Barca can't afford flights at the moment, so probably!

I think we have a reasonable chance of getting this player and what a blow to Utd this will be if it comes off.

This spin/rumour/actual transfer is hotting up lads and ladettes 

Utd sources claiming chelsea to make an official bid today for de jong, At least we should know if any substance by the nights end. Or 48hrs....

Lots of sources reporting Frankie was the main topic of discussion and Barca encouraged us to make a bid. Seems like TT wants Frankie and we will make an offer. Since Todd is a big fan of swaps I could see Azpil, Alonso + cash for Frankie.

In order to bring in De Jong, I would think a central midfielder would need to leave; whether that be Kante, Jorginho, or RLC. My personal opinion would be to sell Jorginho or RLC and keep Kante. A midfield group of Kante, Gallagher, Mount (if we go to a 3), De Jong, Kovacic, and RLC would be fine for this season IMO.
