May 15, 20242 yr Sterling as an impact sub has made a difference so far. Wouldn't change that. Nkunku also looked very rusty when he came on against Forrest so I too wouldn't start him.

And the general debate really drives home why left wing (along with centre half) has to be a focus for us if we can afford to buy anyone this summer. I doubt that. Mudryk is going nowhere this coming window and Nkunku likes to play off the left side. Jackson has also had some of his best games from the left. I don’t see any of those 3 moving on and I doubt Sterling will be going anywhere either due to his wage and recent comments attributed to him.
May 15, 20242 yr Its a real shame we don't have a young left back who has gone one loan after being completely mishandled by our manager, and proven his quality by helping his team get to a European final....

Drivel. Maatsen wasn’t cutting it and we’ve all seen players from the bundesliga star in that league then really struggle when they move to England. Mastsen is a fine player but I’m not sure he would have done any better had we kept him. Lewis Hall on the other hand……

I will concede that Maatsen hasn’t played at left back but the general consensus from the fans and posters on here was he wasn’t going to play due to his size and defensive capabilities ahead of Chillwell and Cucu. The poster I was replying to might have disagreed with this granted but he continually slates the manager and the revisionist comment was based on him using a player doing well in Germany as a stick to beat the manager with. We all know that the German league is much weaker than the EPL and this shows itself in the amount of German players that rip up the Bundesliga and struggle badly here. Maatsen has done really well and I’m happy for him. He’s clearly playing with confidence but for me he wasn’t what we needed at the time in a struggling team. He’ll be away in the summer going by his Father’s comments a few weeks ago and I’ll wish him well but he wasn’t what we needed at the time. If the original poster was calling for Maatsen to start before he went on loan I’ve no problem apologising but I didn’t hear many complaints when he did go on loan. July 25, 20241 yr For the first game of the season looked really sharp. I for one think he and Nkunku will cook this season.. I think Chaosball did him in.. give him a role and structure he will do well.

July 29, 20241 yr Sometimes I wonder if buying a striker and playing Jackson left wing isn't a better option than playing Sterling or Mudryk there. Or maybe Nkunku?

I'd be happy just letting Guiu start the season at CF and be a nuisance with his energy with Jackson Nkunku Palmer in behind him. His link up looks good imo.

As big as he was at one point, his name was contained to these shores, and it’s not like City did anything in Europe to put his name in lights. Guy has no marketability outside the UK. We need a random PL takeover, Newcastle style but idiots in charge. £325k pw reportedly’ and contract until 2027. No chance really.

In the PL he is a flat track bully and turns up against city .. hopefully we can milk that this season.

August 7, 20241 yr So much wrong with CFC at the moment - most of that down to the owners. Normally at this time of year you have that new season optimism where anything is possible, but not with this lot in charge and their inept transfer dealings. And if there is one thing that blows any optimism right out of the water it is the thought of Sterling in the starting 11 and watching him try and take on 2/3 defenders and losing it and then running about in that weird way he does. I just can't have that this season. Need him gone.
August 7, 20241 yr He is a very frustrating player. Trouble is, Mudryk is even worse - and in this system, I'm not sure we have any other options out there. Maybe Jackson, but then we have Guiu playing CF who, whilst his movement and hold up play looks decent, doesn't look likely to get any goals.

Sorry but with the state of our wingers there's absolutely no reason not to play Tyrique George.
