YouTube gives me an impression of him of course and I tend to trust certain people with their opinion of him. Still I am wondering if he is worth 80 million. I understand the fee is accumulated from his newly made control as well and he is young and promising. Still I feel Koulibaly at 31 for 34m is a steal compared to him. Time will tell I guess. The other route is to just give Colwill a chance. He is 2 years younger than Fofana. That card is now also used and we seem to be in a pickle. We need a centerback...at least everyone thinks that way anyway. Colwill is already out on loan, we need to sign a defender. Personally, I wouldn't mind us breaking bank on him this summer. If we don't get him this summer, we will definitely face more competition from him next summer. Fofana has a lot of potential and is the sort of defender we need with an aging Thiago and azpi.
August 7, 20223 yr Judging by that performance, already bid too much for him. He looked good when Leciester was in control, but started to falter as soon as Brentford turned it on in the last half an hour. Losing out in the physical battles, not closing down fast enough. We already have defenders who looked good with the ball , at that price we need a younger KK or similar to defend and soak up the pressure when they came. Fofana is not there yet, for 40-50M we buy the potential, not for 70-80M

August 8, 20223 yr Author Ben Jacobs @JacobsBen 29m Chelsea will table another Wesley Fofana bid this week. First two offers rejected. Straight cash with no players offered despite internal discussions at #CFC about a swap. Told Fofana felt the second rejected bid was fair and has again reiterated his desire to leave.
August 8, 20223 yr Im pleased Fofana felt the second bid was "fair". I am sure we all have an accurate picture of our own worth.
August 8, 20223 yr I doubt very much if thsi will happen. Whenever these things drag on and on the press they rarely happen. I hope we have back ups in mind already for when this dies a death. The clock is ticking.
August 8, 20223 yr Told #CFC won't bid £85m in straight cash next. They are still hoping for under £80m with favourable add ons. It's not just the number but the structure (payment terms and add ons) of the deal that will be key to convincing Leicester to sell. Chelsea have no plans to give up and there is now a growing confidence. Rodgers remains bullish but Chelsea expect meaningful talks this week. First two bids pretty roundly rejected. Far more engagement to come. #LCFC tough negotiators but Fofana wants the move and that helps. #CFC also pushing for Frenkie de Jong. Joan Laporta again stated Barca want to keep him and de Jong wishes to stay. Chelsea optimistic but they won't formally move until de Jong tells them he will join. De Jong, as previously reported, prefers Chelsea to Manchester United. One final point, as reported back in May. #CFC comfortably within FFP & P&S. They may be stretching (with other signings wanted) on planned budget for this summer. But they are fine (comfortable, even) within the financial rules, especially when Covid adjustments considered.

Fofana is not there yet, for 40-50M we buy the potential, not for 70-80M This is taken from The Daily Express match report: "There was evidently frustration with the late collapse and poor result as he left the field of play - feelings that could well push Fofana closer to the exit door. His match stats show exactly why Chelsea are so keen on a deal for the defender and Fofana was one of Leicester's standout performers this afternoon as the 21-year-old made five interceptions. He also made two tackles, two clearances and won five of his seven duels with the Brentford forwards, none of which were able to dribble past him in 90 minutes of thrilling action. Rodgers has continued to reiterate that Leicester are not entertaining the idea of losing the Frenchman, despite the lack of funds available this summer."
August 9, 20223 yr Chelsea growing in confidence over Wesley Fofana transfer. Only around £10m separating the values of Chelsea and Leicester now. - @GraemeBailey
August 9, 20223 yr Chelsea are preparing new proposal for Wesley Fofana. Negotiations will continue with Leicester, they insist he’s not for sale but Chelsea will now push again after bid for more than £70m turned down last week. 🚨🔵 #CFC Fofana wants the move. Chelsea will try again, on it.
August 9, 20223 yr I'm hoping we don't go over £80 milion. Not because of the cost, but because I still want Harry 'Slab head' Maguire to continue being the most expense centre back of all time, forever. Mainly for sh*ts and giggles. Edited August 9, 20223 yr by DarkMata
August 9, 20223 yr I’m struggling to see how we can afford De Jong (£70m), Fofana (£80m) and PEA (who knows?!). That’s easily £150m minimum.
