But I think that is how we get the most out of Havertz. Remember his hat trick in league cup? His link up with Abraham was fantastic. He hasn’t really played that position since then, he always played as striker. Considering his useless passing and dribbling, we want him to be a poacher. A player that arrives in box at perfect timing, that’s sort of his speciality. If we can buy a striker who will link up with him well then we could be onto a winner. Hopefully Pochettino will look at it like that as well. Felix, I like him but is he really worth 90m?

He's best as a false 9 where he can operate in space but this requires a system being built around him, and as we saw under Tuchel this system is unsustainable because it severely lacks goals from the attack. Its' looked horrendously worse without Tuchel. It's why I consider Havertz a redundant footballer. He lacks dribbling qualities, creation qualities, and finishing qualities to consider him a valuable player in a system that isn't specifically designed for him.

May 30, 20233 yr In my opinion we would do seen the best of felix if he had of played off a striker but as we didn’t have one I’m not surprised

To an extent I feel that the fact the best argument for Havertz is him bagging three against Barnsley speaks volumes. I do have sympathy for the argument that he has been played out of position for most of his career with us. But even factoring that in he doesn't strike me as a player who'd I ever describe as above average. I agree that 90m is too much for Felix, especially just now as we need a major rebuild and that is going to cost a lot more than we can recoup shipping out a lot of deadwood. That said I don't think we'd need to pay 90m. I think that could be negotiated down considerably.

He's played CF for like 3 seasons now and he cant improve at it?. He plays the same way in whatever position we play him in, no difference.
May 30, 20233 yr Personally I was hoping for another year loan for Felix as I feel he was our brightest spark. I suppose if it's Pochettino's decision then we have to trust the process.
May 30, 20233 yr I guess if you want 11 all pulling in the same direction and Joao rows the other way he's not a good fit for the team however gifted he may be.

May 31, 20233 yr I'm happy that Pochettino has made the decision and not the club just signed the player. Felix is a good player, he's always making an impact in the game, for a good or for a bad, but he's always there. If we're going to have Nkunku, Lukaku back and Mount is heavily in plans, then Felix's place is lower.
