This is the weird thing. The only point in a loan like this is to try before you buy.

So either we are really desperate and casually chucking money around or there's something we are not being told (or both).

We got a bunch of players injured and nobody can attack. Even a slight boost for a limited time period would be beneficial for us if it works and then the rebuilding might continue. This is all cause we don't really seem to have real scouts that can spot a player we need so we go for the known names.

We just need a playmaker, currently everything is in front of the defence and we've become so predictable it's laughable. Very rarely do we play on the transition, very few of our players have an eye for a forward pass.

I worry Nkunku when he signs may struggle despite his natural talents, I think anyone would struggle in this team which lacks creativity. If Felix can be that guy that wants to pull the strings in attack then good. Yet we still need a midfielder further back that can play the balls through.

Sterling does make runs if you watch him, but he very rarely gets the ball played in behind. Poor Timo despite missing the few chances he would get always wanted the early ball and no one could execute it. Our attack has been worse since we let Timo go because the absence of his lateral runs has made our attack very one dimensional. Opposing defenders love having us to play because we don't penetrate we play in front rather than in behind.

This is something I won't blame on Potter because TT struggled with the players doing the same thing. Let's see if Felix and a creative mid can change this.

I don't understand the purpose of buying up all these young 17-19 year olds for the youth team, but then signing 21-23 year olds for the first team.  Its not like you can have an understudy a couple of years younger than you.  Paying £100 million for Enzo only to block the path of the recently signed Santos, Casadei, Chukwuemeka, and any other centre mid we buy in the next 24 hours just seems pointless especially as we'll no doubt buy another young first team mid like Rice to block another pathway.

That would be the case if the club offers new contract to Kante and Jorginho and still keeps a player like RLC.

Otherwise we would have a pretty thin squad so even signing someone like Enzo or Rice wouldn't really block Santos or Casadei and Chuky is clearly going to get more and more minutes.

The risk is worth it for me. Top quality and we aren't needing to spend 60-70m+ on him. Reading around it seems that he was under utilised by Simeone who is a more defensive minded coach.

Hate to break it to you, but Hazard looked really good the first few months that injury vs PSG effectively signaled the end of the old Hazard and perhaps the end of his career. The worst part being it was from his own countryman adds the real insult to injury (no pun intended) since it was his dream club.

Eden was just so unlucky that's all there is to it, he's now an average footballer as far as most people are concerned. If he had played at Madrid during his peak without any injuries he probably would have stood a chance at winning a balloon d'or.

Personally I've always seen it as, La liga is a weaker league than the prem. Not in terms of the level of ability, because we know the big three clubs alongside Sevilla dominated European football the last decade. More so physically their league is weaker, the prem has more heavy physical contact, we play more direct. Whereas La liga is more technical imo.

Not sure where you get the looking really good because if you read As, he was inconsistent before the ankle injury. He had a good few minutes in his first game against Levante, then was not very good at Paris, was ok against Sevilla, didn't play against Osasuna, grey (described as that in As) against Atletico, far from good against Bruges, played very well and he scored against Granada, not very good against Galatasary (they ask whether he'd cheated in his CV), and I could go on but I haven't got the time. And this is very much in line with what my friends and family in Madrid were telling me back then. Very inconsistent.

Other than that, I agree with you in regarding the Spanish league as less physical than the PL (that's one reason I prefer the PL).

After mulling over this for a day, I think this is a good signing. If we get James and Chillwell back and possibly Kante, Joao Felix in the team plus our other recent acquisitions can help us get far in the UCL and give us a decent end to the season.

Denial, Anger, Self-persuasion, Acceptance, and finally Depression.  Congratulations you've reached the 4th stage of the Chelsea transfer cycle.

There was more noise regarding Enzo and then it ended in nothing. Will this be the same? I'm not particularly enthusiastic as I think that we need to address midfield first, our priority should be to get a strong midfielder and not getting more weak, attacking players.

It's funny that many still think like that when Hazard has been a flop at Real Madrid from the beginning. If it was such a weaker league, Hazard would have dominated most defences. He's been injured, I get it, but whenever he's been available he's been quite disappointing. I watched the other day's Cup game against Cacereño and he did look a shadow of the player he used to be for us. And I don't particularly like La Liga for other reasons.

He has never been fit.

I was under the impression that when he joined they were unimpressed with his body fat ratio and deemed him overweight and unfit. That immediately was a bad first impression, if memory serves

If Potter needs time to develop the team, why are we loaning players for 6 months ?

Indeed. I would be excited for this if we had an option to buy and give him a real reason to impress.

As it is seems more like a holiday away from DS and then a return home after Diego is sacked. A case of anywhere will do and United and Arsenal were not options as they offered 5mill fee and demanded options to buy, so other journos say and why they both moved on.

Because Nkunku doesn't arrive until summer so it's either that, an overpriced permanent deal as a placeholder or stick with what we have. Plus we don't know if we have an unofficial first option on him if we want to sign him.

It still sounds like a short term solution for a manager that only performs in the long term.

Well, I think that's just what it's meant to be . A " short term solution" ..

Meant to be, but probably won't be 😂😂

The long term solution is Nkunku though and that isn't possible right now. What would you suggest we do?

So we can expect this Felix chap to come straight into the team and start performing for Potter from the get go ? Great, that's what we need, why am i not excited ?
