He is making the same money as he was at Atletico so is not about money, we are no better, or perhaps worse, offensively that them so he won't get lots of chances to score. I don't see what is in it for him. Oh, he HAS to leave Athletico Madrid. Him and Simone do not get along at all. In Fact, he was a shiny bright prospect at one time and Simone ruined him. So, from the Jao Felix point of view he gets to go play in the prem, see if he likes it. Chels pay 10 mill plus and we cover full salary and taxes, and we have no option to buy. Felix gets his usual salary and a little extra bump. A Felix Sabbatical. A mini-vacation for him. He is in the shop window. IF he likes playing in England, then he can sign in the summer for Liverpool or Spurs or Arsenal or Man Utd. He gets to live in London for a bit. Meanwhile his agent is simultaneously working on getting him a club in Spain or Italy. He has options. there is plenty in it for him. For us, we get cover, a player who had immense ability at one time, BEFORE Simone ruined him. Sterling, Pulisic, Mount and Felix. All trying to get goals in a team that struggles to get the ball anywhere near the attacking players. We are gambling on Felix coming good on his potential. It is possible. At one time he was an amazing prospect. Simone ruined him? Edited January 9, 20233 yr by TheCeleryKing
January 9, 20233 yr Suprised about this and wonder if Potter has green-lighted this or has happened over his head. The player is mobile and technically good as an attacking supportive player yet does not score many goals. I can only think the injury to either Sterling or Pulisic means one of their season is over.
January 9, 20233 yr I'm a bit worried that so far the players we're bringing in have no EPL experience. Hopefully they'll adapt quickly.

Players should adapt quick. I mean it is football. They should know how to play football right? Zola - Zola didn't need years to adapt, he just turned up mid-season and played football. Great football.

January 9, 20233 yr Hasn't scored more than 8 league goals since 2019, with La Liga being an easier league than the Prem. 280k p/w and a 12m loan fee, I was positive when I first heard this but looking more it really doesn't seem like a great idea. I thought now that we have a recruitment team we'd be going for cheap young starts like Datro Fofana, this seems like a panic buy. How long before FFP comes after us?
January 9, 20233 yr This is Havertz mark ii. Another player overhyped on social media with limited output who won't shift the needle for us. What's worse is he is another step towards Arsenalification of the club. Technically sound but physically waifish and likely to get muscled off the ball regularly. If Simeone (who I rate very highly as a coach and motivator) is getting rid of him that is telling you something. A six month loan may be what is needed to learn that lesson, but he's not changing much here. This smacks of desperation from the powers that be due to our inability to score goals and the lack of good strikers on the market. Edited January 9, 20233 yr by Spiller86
January 9, 20233 yr I don't think he will be as bad as Saul (I bloody well hope not at least) but I am not sure he is the right fit. He's another lightweight player and we have way too many of those. Is there anything else to this deal? Like an option to buy? If not and he plays really well, I can't see Atletico selling him to us on a permanent deal later.
January 9, 20233 yr Does he have a bit of Bernardo Silva in him? I would love to see him at Chelsea. Let’s hope
January 9, 20233 yr Our transfer activity is increasingly mind boggling. Arsenal look close to signing Murdryk and we are on the cusp of borrowing a ready made flop.

Let’s hope No Silva is very tidy and compact with excellent close control. He is also more of a facilitator. Felix is more of a luxury player. He will pop up between the lines and have a touch (although I think his first touch is loosish), he'll then try and turn dribble from that space. If given space he looks good, but we know space is at a premium in this league. One final thing is that if you think Morata fell over lots, wait until you see Felix. He is physically so weak, he just falls over at any contact. Often doesn't compete shoulder to shoulder with the ball. He is peak tippy tappy Arsenal.

January 9, 20233 yr I was hoping he'd go to Arsenal if being honest and then that would close their interest in Mudryk but it looks like we've opened that up for them again.

He reminds me of Havertz but I don't think he actually adds anything different to what we have which worries me. He is just adding to the list of type of players we have and I still worry where the goals will come from if I am being honest.
January 9, 20233 yr He looks soft as sh*t to me. Is he up for a mid table premiership dog fight? Can't see it. I'd sooner have Diego Costa back until the end of the season.

January 9, 20233 yr Have to say, if we want to turn around the fortunes of the club, the signing we should make from Atleti is Cholo Simeone.

He is a proper AM that operates behind the striker like Mount but he is miles better than Mount in quality of passes, shots on target and a good eye for quick transitions. I believe he will come good for us if only we can get our midfield to increase the tempo of play. Mount should be benched for him. Period. Having said that I think we won't do bad looking at Aboubacar on a short term deal. He is very physical, a proper CF with a decent speed on him and very hardworking. Good in the air and quite a handful infront of goal also. He will come as a free agent with probably little sign on fee and wages that won't kill us but he will offer us plenty of presence upfront. Worse case scenario, he can't be as bad as Lukaku If we could get our midfield to increase the tempo of our play then Mount could do this just as well. The tempo of the play is one of the things that is broken at the moment
January 9, 20233 yr On one hand he's a good player who could add the spark we been missing in attack, on the other hand another big name player on a huge salary for Potter to manage. How many players have we signed in this window, and then there's that Ukrainan player from Shakata? It appears we are trying to squeeze in as many new players as we could this season.
