Given those assumptions, I would have preferred us to use the remainder of the season to blood our youngsters into the team - particularly Hutchinson. Have we ever have a loan that worked out well? Kova but that wasn't only for half a season

Or slowly bed him in? Also is he under instructions to play him no matter what or does he still have complete freedom over team sheets. With such a pricey loan there's an expectation for us to get our moneys worth For the fee we paid, he better be ready to start against Fulham. 22 minutes ago, nonotnowjim said: I don't think we are getting top 4, I don't think we are getting relegated and I don't think we will be signing Felix permanently. Have we ever have a loan that worked out well? well said.. zero pressure, and we should have enough in the remaining 21 games to get 15pts and guarantee safety. It’s a missed opportunity IMO as some of these kids in our U21 are already 19 & 20yrs old and at the ideal age to show they can sink or swim. Arteta used his 1st season to bring onboard Saka, Martinelli & Rowe from their u21s all at a cost of £5m. Pep is starting the 18yr old Rico Lewis ahead of Cancelo, and Harvey Elliott is starting regularly ahead of Henderson.
January 11, 20233 yr He's here for now so all the best, although like many I also fail to see the point in bringing him unless we really wanna chase that 4th spot from now on. Welp, at least it keeps us engaged and curious about how the next match will go and it will keep one of Ziyech/Puli/Sterling/Kai out of the lineup, seems far enough.
January 11, 20233 yr Imagine spending around 15m for a player who will only play for us for 5 months what a waste of money and A Madrid must be laughing at us while counting money

If Fabrizio says here we go you know we're in business. Was completed in December Then the Felix deal may not look too extravagent after all. I Think i read the entire package for Felix is 16m with wages. If the intention was for Nkunku's contract to be a fair chunk of that and he is defintiley signed, then it may be worth paying a premium to have Nkunku stay where he is until the summer whilst recuperating properly and meanwhile we still have a talent on a short term deal. 16m sounds steep for six months but if we would have been paying 8m - 10m in the same period for Nkunku and he speant half of that time recovering from this injury, then, whilst still bl00dy expensive, there does seem some logic around the move.

It does feel like he's being extended some rope he can either run with or you know what with... The deal would make more sense from that perspective. Give the manager a talented attacker to see if that makes something happen for him/us. If Felix comes in and look as poor as the rest of them that would pile on the pressure on Potter for sure.

Embarrassing panic buy who won’t solve anything.
January 11, 20233 yr Think he will add the creativity we been missing this season, as long as he doesn't play LWB

The standard of being the best player for Chelsea since Hazard left is 3 motm in a row in UCL semi n final.

January 12, 20233 yr So he's signed a new contract with Atletico until 2027 and we've paid £10m for the 6 month loan. I really don't see how we benefit from this deal without an option to buy at the end. We either increase his value for Atletico or he's a complete dud and we've paid £10m for him and his Mrs to go shopping in London.

January 12, 20233 yr An attacking player is not going to make us reach top 4 by itself. We need to address the elephant in the room, which is the midfield. With a weak midfield as ours, we won't be getting top 6.
January 12, 20233 yr So Chelsea sign a player that one of Europe's top managers has a big problem with because of the players attitude. Maybe our managers quality will coax out some better performances.
January 12, 20233 yr He's good player but this deal benefits Madrid way more than us unless we have intentions to sign him after the loan move. We're basically giving him a chance to do well here and if he does that means his transfer fee goes higher because we have no option and also it could means they keep him as a better player under their new manager if they sack Diego. Crazy that we didn't have an option to buy. Only way he stays here past his loan is if he likes it here and he goes on strike but he signed a contract extension. You watch him be our best player until the end of the season and he fecks off back to Madrid. Edited January 12, 20233 yr by Sheva
January 12, 20233 yr Author So. He may or may not work out. IF he does work out that might be the bigger problem/issue.
