Shed Lower, that’s the game I’ve watched. We have no god-given right to win games but, I ask the players to try. Unlike at Leeds or Southampton, today they went into the game not being spineless and tried. They are just not tha good. Or do you think that a midfield with Jorginho, RLC and Mount is better than theirs? We were the worse team in the second half and we lost. Did we play well? No. Am I making an excuse? No. All I’m saying is that we lost to a better team at the moment but the players did not capitulate from the start as it happened at Leeds or Southampton.

This is where I differ.. I don’t think a midfield of partey odegard and Xhaka are much better.. I have a problem with the way we were setup and asked to back off .. this wasn’t KDB Yaya and Fernandinho.. but we made them out to be like that .. we were afraid to take risks and had so many players behind the ball that it became impossible to create anything.

Fair enough, I don’t think that Jorginho, RLC and today's Mount are better or stronger than Xhaka, Partey and Odegaard. We have been losing midfield battles most season, not sure why people were expecting us to suddenly outplay a team that is top of the PL and has the drive. I thought we contained them in the first half, and they had like 2 shots on target over all the game and ultimately won on a set piece where we are famously crap. Mucha better than what I expected and can’t be as annoyed as I was coming back from Leeds.

Aubameyang was an objectively bad signing. He wasn’t prolific at Barca in an easier league. He was frozen out of arsenal for a clear attitude problem - signing him was truly mind boggling for me, I said this when he was originally bought as well.

Cucurella, short of becoming the best LB/LWB in the world, we grossly overpaid - he could still be a good player but north of £60m is absurd, again there’s a reason city wouldn’t go above £40m.

Stering, again I was very underwhelmed. He’s a good finisher in and around the box but his general play is not great, his decision making also not great - all criticism he’s had from city fans for years, the warning signs were there.

Koulibaly - we were about 5 years late in signing him.

I hope you’re right and they can turn things around but two of them are 33+ so I won’t hold my breath.

The only two we brought in who have shown anything in my opinion in hugely limited minutes - Chuku & Zakaria can’t get close to the team.

I am seriously worried about us moving forward if Boehly just wants to go for any big name that’s available on the market without making sure the profiles fits.

Good summary

Just finished watching it on dvr. Paid them too much respect and caught out by a set piece again. Slowly edging towards where we belong in the league around 6th or 7th. Least the WC starts very soon and we shall have some temporary respite then January Ronaldo will arrive 😅😂🤣

If Kante and Kovacic weren't injury prone maybe there would be an argument that can be made about our midfield compared to theirs but as it stands none of our midfielders will start in that Arsenal team. Partey, Odegard and Xhaka are miles ahead any of our midfielders at the moment.

Am i the only one who just doesn't see it with Odegard? Even today with his team having the most of the game I barely noticed him.

Deserved to lose today, been mediocre for a long time, and the paper that was over the cracks is peeling away.

We are not a top tier team at the moment, and that is evident by looking at the players who played today.

Would Mendy start for liverpool or city? No

Would Dave? No

Silva? No

Chalobah? cracking potential, but no

Cucu? No

Jorgi? No

RLC? No

Sterling? No

Kai? No

Mase? No

PEA? No

Not a single player in our first team would get into city or liverpool. Most wouldnt get into a resurgent arsenal. most wouldnt get into a stagnating Utd. Many would struggle at even Newcastle.

The point is, that we should not be surprised. The writing has been on the wall for a while. Are the players better than mid table? Yeah, they should be. But they are not top players, not genuine top tier.

It is what it is.

Weren't you one of those who wanted Tuchel sacked because he should get more out of these players?

Disappointed, yes. Let's remember the injuries we have, it will take time to get better, after everything the club have been through we are in transition. I want us to be challenging but we need time.

I thought he was good. He was carving us open easily and finding Martinelli and Saka especially.

I would go as far as saying that not a single one of our players would have got into their team today

Its not all down to the players. Inept coaching tactics, sacked medical staff club is a f**king mess right now.

These same players won the CL, Super cup etc. They are not bad players. Its the coaching tactics.

I always was pessimistic going into this game with our injuries and the way we have been playing and the way Arsenal were playing.

Thought Potter got his tactics wrong from beginning. Went way too offensive line up without defensive cover. Jorginho in a 2 man midfield against Arsenal with the way they play was suicide. They honestly battered us all game and the scoreline should have been a lot more. We were lost in defence and attack and was only for Arsenal's profligacy why the scoreline looks respectable. I know Potter will take time to get his methods across but I don't know what we have been doing in preparation for this game. The team was lost.

Kovacic should have come on first half immediately and Aubameyang should have come off earlier. He was a ghost. Broja did more in his first 5 mins on pitch than Auba did all game. I feel that sometimes Potter is starting Auba on rep and not actually anything else as I struggle to see how Broja cannot get more than one start this season. Sterling barely threatened them at all but what was so depressing to watch was us succumb to Arsenal and look so inferior. We let them run all over us. Mount ineffective. Cucurella's weight loss is obvious as he looks so feeble out there.

Newcastle winning topped of bad weekend. If they beat us next week, which I think they will, we drop 9 points behind them already. I normally have some form of optimsm in posts, but not today. Shocking. Injuries played a factor and I thought Arsenal would win but it is the manner we lost which hurts me the most. No urgency and three seasons in a row, Arsenal have now beaten us at the Bridge.

Hah if you watch the highlight package there are more highlights of players getting booked than there are of chances.

Felt Mendy showed his usual sh*t command of the box on the goal, and the defenders (especially Cucurella) should be paying attention to the ball.

I said before the game that Arsenal are weak as piss and we should take care of them easily. Which we should.

I discounted our increasing Arsenalification as a football club. We are the ones who are now weak and tepid. Partey bossed us. How or why Potter persists in playing two attacking midfielders next to Jorginho I have no idea, especially after Zakaria played so well midweek. Even worse, How could you justify a starting midfield that features Jorginho, who is slow as a wet week, and RLC, who tracks back about as well as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. We were hopeless exposed from the off.

It is becoming incredibly apparent to me that without Kante and James, this may not actually be a top 4 team.

That's odd Droy? Your profile says you joined The Shed End forums on October 2nd. Tuchel was sacked on 7th September. How would you have known what Nonotnowjim was saying about Tuchel before you were here?

Are you absolutely sure you're not Sindre in disguise?

He's had some very good games for them this season. As opposed to our midfield who are just sh*t week in, week out.

Didn't i already tell you i lurked for a while? My general sense was that 95% of the forum supported Tuchel but that two or three were dead set against Tuchel so not that hard to remember who that was. With you i'm actually not sure where you stood but perhaps you could enlighten me?

Just down right embarrassing, no other words to put it. Supposedly biggest game of Potter's era, instead of focusing shore up the midfield and defence, he picked 4 attacking players and basically left out front door open. Somehow RLC still started, despite everything happened in the past 2-3 games. We had to cover in midfield and defence, lucky survived the first half. No change in the second half until the stupid goal, again WTF another corner goal, isn't corner the bread and butter of Potter and Brighton? There was no rhythm in attack, fark the Brighton style beautiful football, we could hardly string 3 passes together, it's either nothing or a long ball over the top aiming at Sterling. Best moment of the match was a couple of good cross from us. We are now worse off than when we changed manager, so well done to everyone. 2 more games before the WC, which I think we will lose both. After the WC, everyone will be fatigued, and we will blame the WC hangover as a slip into the second half of the table.

I said as much before the game. shows how far we have dropped. Only Silva would make their team. Thought he was class again today, bar the mistake which led to their goal but hardly surprising for the number of games he is having to play at 38!

Out of today's lineup or the whole squad?
