being an elite football manger is a multifaceted role - a perhaps underappreciated fact. Football knowledge/tactics is obviously a huge component but there are many others. If you had an elite football manager top trumps, it wouldn’t be his strongest suit. He would still rank highly sure. That and his being a great defensive coach aren’t mutually exclusive. He got the better of equally good or better tacticians because of other stuff - like instilling that work ethic/desire in players to play for him - Ivanovic playing with his foot bleeding like crazy and other examples. Anyway, it’s the last I’ll say on it, and I wish you a pleasant rest of the evening.

Yeah don't bother with HazardousChoice....I mean TUP, scousers gonna be scouse...

Since no one is paying me any attention, I might as well rant on my own. I would have Mou back any day, but I don't think name dropping can shake Boehly awake.

There's something else that needs to be talked about, and it has not been only Potter's recent statement regarding the preseason; there has been an ongoing campaign to taint Tuchel's name a long time now, obviously initiated by the owners, to justify his sacking. This is vile, just vile. At least have the decency to thank the man.

I'll chuck a left field option in the ring.

Top of the league in Qatar with a 75% win percentage (as I know people are loving that stat right now lol) I know, weak league but Xavi has come from there and done allright (atleast domestically). Prior to that won Sao Paulo their first trophy for 9 years (all be it left soon after due to a poor league campaign) and did an great job at Defensa y Justicia winning the South American equivalent of the Europa League.

He also by all accounts favours high octane football, which suits our rooster of players.

Would be (another) huge risk ofcourse and he wouldn't be my first choice (yet) but one to keep an eye out for if we can't get any of the 'big' names (that are suitable for what we currently need).

Would love to see Carlo back, although I think he needs top players for it to work. We should be nowhere near Mourinho, he cant coach young players. Zizou wont be interested for sure, most realistic replacement is unfortunately Pochettino

With all the finger pointing at the manager and owners which is rightly deserved, a large part of problem lies with the players. Don't try and tell me a good /great player becomes crap overnight. Modern day footballers attitude stinks.

Can we put him on the list?

I think there's a lot more to the sacking of TT than we know about, no real reason has been released. TT took the handsome pay off without much of ado, obviously because of the NDA. Todd passed it off as a bit of nothing, PR esque. But there's been snippets of other reasons afoot. So i don't think TT will be in any equation of a return for a while.

Crespo also worked with Enzo when he was on loan at Defensa y Justicia.

I'd love to see JT as an interim manager.

I wouldn't, he would be an absolute disaster. As funny as they were his swipes at Benitez and Savage are a massive red flag when it comes to management.

I can see us going for someone whos available and not buying someone out again.

If it was me i would go for Luis Enrique. I am not 100% convinced but he's managed some big names and he has a bit of an ego. We need someone to take a grip of the club and run it their way and if anyone disagrees then show the door.

Xavi is leading La liga, Pep/Arteta are top of the prem and Ten Haag has completley changed Utd. The Cruyff way seems to be the in thing at the moment so why not jump on the bandwagon.

Zidane is not happening and Poch doesn't appeal to me.

I'd be happy with either Enrique or Flick and out of the 2 Enrique seems the easier to obtain.

Total confidence in Jose, the different languages wouldn't worry him either as he's multi lingual.  He's certainly been about a bit, years of experience managing at highest level. And the Premier League shouldn't be too much of a cultural shock for him.

Chelsea under new management with a complete set of new players.  The badge and stadium are the same, the business culture will be totally different at the Club.

The romantic in me would take Jose but I think his time has gone. I'd love it if he won a CL with us but football has moved on from him. His aura has diminished over the years and we need someone a bit more modern to deal with all the younger players and some sulky experienced players we have.

De Zerbi has a release clause.

What’s great about De Zerbi (aside from the embarrassment) is that we can see a DIRECT contrast to how he and Potter orchestrated the same set of tools, the tactical approach has been polar opposite. De Zerbi is doing what Pep & Arteta are doing in regards to structure, press style and setup, it’s the shot in the arm we need. I’ve seen people dismiss him as ‘flavour of the month’ but that is false and a lazy categorisation of managers.

I’m at the stage now where I feel Boehly won’t pull the trigger though, he’s clearly not that bothered about us getting past Dortmund.

None are without risks but my order of preference would be 1. Zidane 2.Enrique 3.Pochetino , all significant improvements on potter however.

Definitely an interesting prospect for sure. A Jose Mourinho that is tailored for today's football.

Player for Benfica and manager for Sporting.

It seems a lot of Portuguese players have had no qualms in playing or managing both given how strongly they hate eachother. How many British players have played for both Arsenal/Spurs, Liverpool/United, Celtic/Rangers? Im sure I've missed someone obvious but literally can't think of any off the top of my head since Sol Cambell.

Obviously nowhere near good enough for us LOL

That’s an impressive stat but if he had good advisors they would tell him to run away from US 🤣
