March 18, 20233 yr It was the passive/defensive nature of the subs as a group that encouraged the toffees. Taking off Pulisic and Felix and replacing them with two midfielders was just so defensive. I think chukwumeka will do well but not used like this. Pulisic played oki I guess but I still can’t see why he dropped Mudryk or even cucu. Ranieri tinkered less.

Every goal conceded is an individual error somewhere. It's the foundation of the game. What the elite clubs do is employ elite personnel to drill structure and systems into their teams to limit the number of times these happen and to ensure that they have benefitted from the opposition committing more errors than they do. Unfortunately we employ a guy who seems to have chance of discovery rocking horse sh*t than creating a free scoring team allied to a shockingly poor level of game management

March 18, 20233 yr 1 hour ago, The Rising Sun said: The goalkeeping error is all down to Potter obviously Yes exactly, it is. Because without undermining the structure of the spine of the side at one of the most crucial periods of the game and thus handing the impetus to the opposition the ball doesn't get to the point where the keeper does what this mediocre keeper regularly does.
March 18, 20233 yr Kepa could have done better with the equaliser but shouldn't have been put in that situation in the first place, that was down to poor defending. I think Kepa's had a good season so far, much improved on his past form. Does anyone know what's happened to Mendy ?
March 18, 20233 yr Thought Potter had eventually got his decision making right by dropping Ziyech last three games….righto. Wtf was he doing taking Wesley off, bringing on RLC and not Kante?? Chalobah looked disinterested on the touch line before coming on, face like a smacked bum….. Potter has zero alpha male qualities that are especially required to lead a team of elite players …… need a man like JT in there who commands immediate respect and has won trophies
March 19, 20233 yr For the first 25-30 minutes I thought we moved the ball around well and were always looking to go forward, that was a positive sign that Potter might be changing things up and it was paying off. An early goal in the 2nd half and it's starting to look good, Felix looked lively and deserved that goal. Then Potter takes Pulisic off who I thought was having a good game and the whole dynamic seems to change. We are 1 nil up at home to a relegation threatened team and for some reason we try and go all defensive, thus inviting Everton to attack and the inevitable happens. We should be looking to extend our 1 goal lead, not defend it. And then right at the end, when we've only got a few minutes left to hang on Pottr tinkers with the backline, Chaloba who has been asleep on the bench for 87 minutes is suddenly asked to wake up and take over from Fofana... he messes up, then the Keepa messes up... and it's 2-2. So we look for Felix to provide a little bit more magic up front and rescue the situation but oddly, he's been taken off too by our shrewd coach Potr 😭 It's so bloody frustrating to watch - understatement of the year - thanks @Weatherman
March 19, 20233 yr At this point in the season we have to stick with Potter but long term he's just not going to cut it. Everton were always in the match after they equalised and we just crumbled after the subs. Everton just looked stronger and we looked a weaker side. Fofanas removal is a complete mystery me. Was he injured? If it ain't broke don't fix it. If we'd taken a couple more chances early on it would have been different but we didn't so you have to hold the Fort. If you have to hold the Fort then don't take off Fofana. I still don't see the front line improving and our confidence is fragile. I'm resigned to mid table mediocrity this season but my hopes of CL glory are just about vaporised by this result.
March 19, 20233 yr We were the better team, but two awful defendings cost us. We have seen this show way too many times. I suppose if everything in the league is just a dress rehearsal for the CL campaign, it's no need to get upset about this. But one thing for sure is we have lots of holes in our game, so overcoming Real and whoever else coming up would need huge improvements in the team. I don't think it's a matter of just flicking the switch, and all the sudden we will match up against the best in Europe. Am I the only one surprised Pullisic got a start? He scored a great offside goal, but otherwise was quiet. I mean the game last weekend was good, but change something that was working? KK had a shocker, for a big defender he's not contesting the header, and got muscled for the goal was just embarrassing, almost as bad as Kepa's attempted save.
March 19, 20233 yr I think a lot of people focus too much on the result. It really doesn't matter at this point, the league is done. More importantly is how do you think we play? How is the build up? How is the pressing? What is Potter is trying to do?
March 19, 20233 yr I think we continue to play great football but not for 90 minutes. We've had more than our fair share of bad luck and our opponents have generally played above themselves. This game was no different to me. Sometimes we get over the line, sometimes not. The league season looks unlikely to improve significantly but.... We are still in the Champions League, with no league matters of note, maybe just maybe we could do it again, we have a good record against Real Madrid over the years. ( I'm away at the moment and haven't been able to keep up with all the scores, who have Liverpool got in the next round?😂)

March 19, 20233 yr Thought we actually played really well in phases. Some our our build up play was good . However, again, we often over passed and let a them reorganise defensively The need for a top class striker was obvious. We should have been out of sight. However, we let them back in, twice. Frustrating to say the least. Edited March 19, 20233 yr by erskblue
March 19, 20233 yr First rule of in game management, don’t take off a centre half unless you absolutely have to. The man can’t get the basics right. 4 points out of 9 against 3 of the worst teams for years!

March 19, 20233 yr 14 hours ago, Scott Harris said: I don't think either goal was necessarily down to individual errors though. The corner certainly wasn't, that was clearly a training ground routine. Haven't gone zonal all season, but we suddenly do it when things were improving in the set piece department? I don't understand that change at all. The late goal came from the constant tactical changes. We know Koulibaly cannot stand up against players in a 1v1 anymore, this is why he has the 2 cb's next to him, but Potter took one of them off and exposed Koulibaly right at the end. That is more of a tactical error than a player error. It's not a good look for Koulibaly, but we have known of this weakness since the start of the season and adjusted our game to protect him, Potter threw it all out of the window right at the end. Dyche got the better of Potter today and must have known Potter would go defensive around the 80 min mark so puts on an extra striker. Good ball from Decoure who was not challenged and Sims gets a run against KK. Also the first goal we conceded we had KK and Fofana going up against one of theirs, I think it was Tarkowski and he still wins it...........
March 19, 20233 yr Thought the subs from potter were really negative and poor and gave Everton the momentum they needed to get something out of it. Doesn’t help when your keeper has cheese strings for fingers either
March 19, 20233 yr Listen. Everton are that low in the table because they play bad football and have a bang average squad and a rugby manager in charge. Simply put they are utter dog sh*te. Still, they come to the Bridge and put two past us and we look clueless and on top of that Potter's subs and in game management was a disgrace. A total f**king disgrace. Chelsea, a massive brand, a top 10 club worldwide is made to look like a nothing club by this fraud in charge through his sh*te subs and non existent tactics. There's midtable clubs in Germany or even RC Lens in France that play a brand of football that makes them look like they have Guardiola in charge compared to us.

Correction he went defensive from the 61st minute replacing pulisic with Gallagher instead of mudryk or another attacker.
