He’s probably my favourite ever player and for me he’s our greatest ever player but I’m worried about this.

This won’t be a clean slate, he likely fell out with a few of those players in the dressing room and I know Everton are not in a good place club wise but he did not do well there at all.

I dont see us beating Madrid, we don’t have the personalities on the pitch like we did under Robbie.

I just hope this doesn’t go badly wrong for him.

Not really. We are already in a dire state. There is not much room to make it worse. Even if we don`t improve for the rest of the season no one is going to blame Frank for it.

For everyone saying they don't like it and what not, it's nine matches and that's it, it's not like it's a permanent spot.  A club legend coming back (again) can't be a bad thing and the players, you would think, will perform better due to respect of an all time great.  We also don't know the situations of our top targets and it gives us time to make the right decision.  As much as I hate to admit it we don't really stand a chance in the CL, no matter who is leading us, so we have nothing to lose here, and neither does Frank.  He's had a rough run with us and then Everton so he has nothing to lose as no prem club would be looking at him now but if he actually does well for us it could lead to something positive for Frank himself, whether that's back in the EFL or even abroad.  I think people are being a bit too over critical in a season that is dead anyway.  Let's just end the season on a good note with a club legend as interim manager and play some fun attacking football!

Let me get this right........

We (the club) spent 250 million pounds on new signings for a manager we then sacked 6 (or so) games in.....

Then we paid 20 million odd pound release to get a young, inexperienced replacement manager on a 5 year contract.........

Then we backed that manager to the tune of 350 odd million pounds in January....

Then we sacked that manager less than 9 months into that 5 year contract after spending 350 odd million pounds on players for him without even having a replacement in line........

Now we are bringing in an interim manager who already failed at the club previously and asking him to fix things?......

Never a dull moment I guess..........

If we can't get our main target for the end of the season Frank is pretty much the perfect option to hire as an interim. This season is already written off as one of the worst in recent memory.

This. We're in 11th and most people expect us to lose to Real in the CL anyway. Nobody will blame him if we drop even further or indeed lose the quarter final, but if Frank gets us in the top 10 or even to the semis (or better  ), it's good for us and good for him in his hunt for a new position elsewhere should he want one. And meanwhile, Todd & Co are on their own hunt for out new Permanent One (i.e. 1.5 seasons).

And whether you agree with this or not, just imagine the Bridge erupting and singing his name first time he comes out of the tunnel! Almost worth all the aggro of this season

I find this bizarre, and I say this as someone who adores Frank and was gutted when he was sacked a few years back.

I'm sure bringing in Frank will lift the spirits of the club, but I just don't understand what the rationale is for bringing him in.

It's just for 11-14 games. The club needs a boost and the stadium needs a boost.

Maybe Frank can teach Kova and Enzo how to shoot from distance.

Boehly probably been reading this forum, even in February some been talking about Lampard returns as interim for Potter to rescue the season, and here we are in April. I'm contend with this, last thing you want is another 5 year deal for the manager that's not right for us. Lampard has something to prove to himself, so I think he will drive the players.  If Lampard wins the CL, that's another discussion at the end of the season.

Boehly is a man of the people. Eager to impress you boys in the stands:

1. Doesn't really want or get along with Tuchel but know you love him so keep him anyway
2. Doesn't want to buy weird oldies but knew that your bloke Tuchel wanted to, so brought in Auba etc.
3. Some poor results and poor football and harsh discussion about Thomas - Boehly sacks him to please you
4. Gets Mr. Nr 1 talked-about manager in Graham Potter, thinking flavour of the month will make you happy
5. Brings in a couple of £100m of players in January. No plan behind it but fans love new shiny toys.
6. Sacks Potter after poor results. Just like with Tuchel he probably knew Potter had an impossible working environment but fans want blood
7. Brings in club legend Lampard whos greatest managerial achievement is 6th in Championship.. with Mount, Tomori, Wilson etc in the squad

He works hard to please you guys. Problem for you will be that making decisions based on the emotions of the fans rather than a real plan/thought process...
might sound and feel good, but will do you lots of harm. Watch Mou or Conte coming in the summer to stay in the job a couple of months.

Aha, so it's all on the male supporters! I'm not a boy in the stands, so I'm not to blame.

Good grief....

13 players still here from Lampard Part 1 ... Kepa, Mendy, James, Silva, Dave, Chilwell, Kovacic, Kante, Loftus-Cheek, Ziyech, Havertz, Mount, Pulisic.

Assuming Lampard is appointed, it will be interesting to see how much he relies on them vs the new Boehly signings in the 11-14 matches we have left this season.

"Detached curiosity" probably best describes how I feel about this week's developments ... almost feels like 2023 is having an April Fool's Week rather than an April Fool's Day !

Greatest achievement is actually 4th in the Premier League with a bunch of kids and a FA-Cup final. You can get back to us when your boy achieves that.

Is Lampard as good a manager as Potter? Probably.
Is Lampard a better manager for our particular club? 1000%

Very happy to see Lampard back. The Champions League dream is alive!

Sorry, it was a poor choice of word. Of course female fans can be equally fickle.

Point is, this Boehly guy seems very interested in what is said on social media etc.

We ran out of new coach to appoint that we are now recycling our old coach.

We are probably still paying him from his first contract and he might be the only person who would take the job 😄

Mate you just joined this forum to take the piss it's as simple as that you haven't said who you support but claim to have followed Graham Potter's career for six years of course you haven't who in their right mind would ?. Six years ago he was in Ostersund now unless your a fan which I doubt even calling yourself Swedish Entity doesn't cut it.

You also said you're on a Brighton forum again probably just to take the piss did you join a Swansea forum as well ?. I've heard of superfans but of the blandest football manager of all time who makes Gareth Southgate look like Oliver Reed it's laughable. Now he's been sacked I suppose a new forum probably Leicester will have to tolerate you obviously you won't need to post on here anymore he's gone so should you.

Sensible appointment, it was never going to work with Bruno till the end of the season. He probably got through the Liverpool match using Graham' pre prepared notes. Kind of poetic Lamps steps back in preparing for a game against Wolves. This now gives Boehly and Co time to properly assess the permanent candidates. Frank for his part gets a crack at Real Madrid and 10 pressure free games. The fans for their part now get a chance to say a proper farewell to a legend...would be ironic if we beat Newcastle and so catapulted Spuds into the top four at their expense.

Good points

We (the club) spent 250 million pounds on new signings for a manager we then sacked 6 (or so) games in.....

Tuchel had to be sacked due to off-field actions.

Then we paid 20 million odd pound release to get a young, inexperienced replacement manager on a 5 year contract.........

This was a risk-move that didn't pay off.

Then we backed that manager to the tune of 350 odd million pounds in January....

We mostly bought young talents for the future, no matter who the coach is really.

Then we sacked that manager less than 9 months into that 5 year contract after spending 350 odd million pounds on players for him without even having a replacement in line........

Basically.

Now we are bringing in an interim manager who already failed at the club previously and asking him to fix things?......

No. He is not to fix things. He is here to guide us through the 10+ games we have. More experienced than Bruno and knows the club inside out.

Never a dull moment I guess..........

I agree. This is why I love Chelsea among other things.

I'm here for it.

Frank has flaws as a coach, but he's got a strong talent ID and is happy working with youngsters. It'll be a (minimum) 11 game farewell tour, fans can give him a proper send-off at the end of the season with the mood around the club hopefully lifted. It also means we don't have to rush appointing a permanent manager. So fingers crossed we get that decision right with the benefit of time.

Players let him down before... players let him down at Everton...

I don't buy players let him down theory. Especially if it's happened at two clubs with different set of players

Honestly thought this was a wind up when I saw it in the news this morning. I'm not against it, just surprised that Frank would consider coming in as an interim manager after being harshly sacked not so long ago. He obviously still has a deep connection to the club. I'd rather appoint a permanent replacement now, but if that's not on the cards, then I'm fine with this for the time being. At the very least, it will provide a massive morale boost to the fanbase, which should hopefully give the team a much-needed lift.

Fantastic appointment.

Frank was always good at building a relationship with the players first time around and from what i remember it was some of the happiest moments watching Chelsea. He comes in for 10 games or so, gets all the players we intend on keeping happy and ready for whoever the next manager that comes in summer is. Hopefully gets Mount playing again and convinces him to sign the contract. Bloods a lot of the youngsters we've signed by playing them in their favourite positions.

God i'm excited for the next game now.

Not sure about this. Everyone talks about morale boost, and nobody talks about tactical knowledge and performance training, as if morale boost somehow will sharpen up our game. Of course, we might run faster for a few coming games, but still will be headless chickens without any directional sense or purpose. Others suggest it is an operation Saving Private Mount. Favouritism at somebody else's expense? Rudiger 2?  Obviously, I wish Frank well, but I fear it is going to end up in a bitter disappointment again.
