I took this screenshot after 56 minutes today, but didn't want to jinx us by posting it during the game !

Probably not one you'll see very often :-)

If Nico had missed the chances Haaland did today this thread would have 2 more pages. 1 or 2 people on this forum were more upset than the City supporters with Jackson setting up a goal for Sterling of all people.

He's no Haaland and he's got a lot to work on but a young player who's linking up well and still getting goals and assists despite some unpolished aspects of his game is a young player you can really work on.

He was absolutely crucial to the team today. He’s pretty much the only attacker who can hold off City players and take the ball forward, I thought he was really good today.

I see so much potential in his team play, just imagine him linking up with Nkunku and Palmer in a years time, we’d wreak havoc. Not a great finisher but i don’t think he’s a pure striker really, more of a winger / second striker hybrid.

He's just incredibly raw and immature on the pitch.  But, there is no denying his attributes and desire to keep going - he continues to put himself in good positions.  I'm interested to see what he looks like in 12-18 months after a longer period of acclimation.  Did well today, yet left you wanting more, which I hope is a good thing!

They would with a striker ahead of them I believe.

He's finding his feet a bit more, I don't think he's our answer by any means but he's a good versitile option to have upfront and on the wings. He did well in the first half apart from the missed chance and to be fair his stats have been good this season which is something not to scoff at considering its his first season.

Better from him yesterday, but against a team like City he has to take a chance like that 1 on 1.

Should at least have enough presence to instinctively know that he needed his first touch to be with the outside of his right foot rather than his back left foot.  A decent right foot first touch and I think he scores. For all of the frustrations of Sterling I think he scores that one.

I think it's literally just the case the ball came further behind him than he'd anticipated. That made his first touch poor.

I think Sterlings miss in the second half was worse.

He's got great awareness and vision of where players are around him. His little flicks and backheels are great.

He can link up well sometimes and create for others. He's just so bad at actually being a finisher.

This is interesting because a lot of fans this days think finishing is not important for a st.

It’s got to do with your claim.

“Jackson doesn’t have half the technicality ability as Tammy.”

I get it. You don’t like Jackson. But now you’re on the wind up. Any player asked to link up and carry the ball from deep, which is arguably Jackson’s strongest quality, has a good level of technical ability. Tammy on occasion tripped over his own feet when dribbling and makes Lukaku look like Bergkamp.

Let's just be thankful that we don't have them both in the same side. It would be like trying to watch Minions score.

First touch was fine for me, is the second one where he should be throwing himself in to a shot not trying to take another touch, that he got wrong.

Both him and Sterling missed out on an easy goal due to the first touch being very sus

Werner nearly cost us the CL with his braindead finishing.

'nearly'.

Had he actually cost us the CL he would have received just as much abuse, if not more.

Thought he played well, looked alot worse when he went off.

Van Dyk didn't have to break sweat defending him 1 on 1. Would have been nice if NJ had managed to win a couple of headers against him.

He can be a useful option out wide or playing off a proper centre-forward.

He gave Konate a game. Should be starting LF.

He simply doesn't have the strength yet, how anyone could expect a young player to win against VVD is baffling. as he matures he will get stronger. Even a peak Drogba would find it hard, in that situation.

He's been just about par so far. He's not been setting the place alight but we also tend to forget that he did cost £32 million (remember who else cost that much?) which is still a substantial amount. Not our saving grace up front and we will still require an upgrade in the summer but is a decent rotation option for the future.

VVD (to his own admission) couldn't handle the poundland Drogba and you'd think he'd handle the original?

VVD s problem with Jackson is his movement and speed, Aerially it's pretty much a no contest. As to Drogba, i didn't say he would handle him, but Drogba, unless when he was really on it, when NOBODY could cope with him, Would not have it all his own way.
