Nicolas Jackson - striker

Featured Replies

Jackson misses chances, he sure does,  but actually Palmer missed one just as easy and has missed others. I'm a big supporter of Jackson and I reckon his market value has increased this season. Touch might not be as good as Havertz but more goals and probably more assists. And by the way he missed a month at AFC, his goals total would almost certainly be higher if he'd been here.

Some of the player criticism on the this forum is astonishing.

Maybe because we're 11th.

If so many players are playing so well, we wouldn't be there.

One of his best games for us so far tonight. Not perfect, there were times where I thought he could have put more effort into getting on the end of a few crosses, but for the most part, he was a good link up player, was competitive and kept Newcastle's defence busy.

He should have an assist with the sterling flick on too.

Strange that so few have posted about him after last night's game. Did well to score from Palmer's shot, made a 50 yard run with the ball to set up Gallagher/Mudryk for the third goal and also put Sterling straight through which should have resulted in another goal. Not a bad showing from a young striker now with 12 goals across all competitions in his first season.

He does still remind me of Kalou though. Does some things so well then misplaces the simple 5 yard pass.

If he missed a sitter the post would be flooding in. He played well last night and kept fighting. Hopefully he keeps going in that direction.

He's exactly like Kalou, even down to the totally unnecessary flicks at times.

Played well yesterday, took his actual goal and his offside goal really well.

Hey you, stop impersonating. Will the real Scott Harris please stand up!

His offside goal was actually a very good bit of defending, he was on the shoulder of the defender, who timed their step up to perfection, in the blink of an eye he found himself a yard offside.

Thing is I have absolutely no problem with a striker being caught offside sometimes, its how they should be playing, right on the shoulder. The one time they time it right (or the defender times it wrong) they get a chance, its whether they take that chance that shows if they are top quality or not.

Mixed bag from Jackson today. Did great for the first goal. Worked hard and di okay and got a Leicester player sent off. But snatched at a few chances and I also lost count of simple passes he should have made but he gave the ball away.

But compared to Sterling he looked like Pele........................!!

And Sylvester Stallone look like Gordon Banks

I think he has been better overall since coming back from AFCON. He goes through good and bad patches in games, but he's better than he was for sure. He has some really nice touches at times, he just needs to make it more consistent over 90 minutes.

Agree and thought he did well today too.

Held the ball up well some times which he hasn't always done.

I honestly don't think Jackson is much better than before the AFCON.  Very little has changed. There's been a lot of good stuff in his game all season.

He's just appreciated more because all the people that wanted him flogged had to watch Broja play for a month so they've started appreciating Nico for actually knowing how to move and link up with his team mates.

I think it’s all about confidence with Jackson. His hold up play and movement has improved. Was having a good game until a couple of bad passes, then  his game changed but he came back after his poor effort at goal to finish the game well.

Yes I also think confidence is a factor with him too.
