Nicolas Jackson - striker

Featured Replies

Just not good enough to lead the line for a club with our supposed ambition. Looked great in preseason but other than some decent moments against Liverpool, he looks too raw.

He has had about 15 games where he looked the real deal in his whole career. Great attitude on him, but he should be at a club like Everton or Bournemouth if he wants to start every week in the prem.

Hopefully we rectify it in January, as we wont be doing anything with Jackson and Sterling starting regularly.

Have to take him out of the firing line. Looks to me like mentally he has gone.

Maybe that can be fixed with a gradual reintroduction as a second striker, where the pressure is off him and on Nkunku, and a main striker potential.

As of now though Poch has to take him out of the firing line. Tell the media he is injured.

Play Palmer as a false 9 again at Spurs. Hopefully Broja will be an option again soon.

Completely agree. I don't think it helps at all playing a central midfielder in the number 10 role. Need a goalscorer / attacker to help Jako out a bit.

In pre season, no team/player play with 100% intensity. They won't kick you or smash you. Once season start, it is whole another story.

Playing as st in PL is extemely physical. You can see the drop off in Jackson physical output since his 1st game. This is normal stuff. He is not ready physically.

😁😁

Clear to see he simply isn't a natural striker and has only started playing there in the past year or so. Doesn't help that his confidence is just gone as well.

I don't think we have a proper 9 at the club, neither Jackson nor Broja and even Nkunku was not seen as a 9. I think they are all 10's.

It will be someone playing out of position.

Broja is a 9.

I think we have to make it work with Jackson and Broja. It's that simple. I dont think it's realistic for the club to sign another 100 million pound player who could easily scratch around for form. No one will consider it but Lukaku would be exactly what we need right now. He's just a total muppet. I do get that, but he's a better player than Tony and he'l cost 80/100 million.

We REALLY need to start scoring from other areas of the pitch. I backed sterling at the start of the season and he actually really needs to step up in terms of sticking the ball in the net. Gallagher too... anything from our wingers will be gratefully received as well.

Up to Poch to make it work. Let's get behind the players and se if that helps.

Go read the Gallagher thread for much of the same. Fans flip flopping their opinion on a gamely basis.

Is it flip flopping or is it just the people on either extreme the loudest depending on what type of game he has had?

Would be a lot easier if the majority rated him appropriately (our Ji Sung Park long story short).

Lukaku with a personality transplant to be like Conor would work.

I tend to cut the guy some slack, given he was not going to be a starting striker for most teams in this league. Ideally, you have a proven striker ( even not 20 goals a season), and Jackson learning and developing as the second choice.

For a club our size, Jackson shouldnt have been into the position where he’s playing every game as the starting striker. For his age and experience, he should be coming on as a sub and learning his trade. The injury to Nkunku probably killed this plan and it’s exposed Jackson’s flaws  a lot.

Problem is the striker market is slim pickings.

Kane was never an option who else was there who actually is class and likely to succeeded? Not another youthful punt like Jackson.

Jackson just needs to keep doing what he did early doors and the goals will come. I want him to become a destroyer of defences... Mean, nasty, elbows and studs in the opposition and find a ruthless killer instinct to shoot outside the box and in it. If he is to lead our line then he needs to think the Bridge is Sparta.

Yes, I've made that point myself. At the moment he looks more like a striker who will function better in a front two.

Playing as a lone striker in the EPL is incredibly difficult.

I knew it would take a few games for fanbase to turn on him. Look at the comments in pre-season. He is struggling, but so are the whole team. I still like him and while he is not world-class, I can't believe fans are writing him off already. Just shows how little fan patience is. From hero to zero. The stark contrasts in opinion from July to now is amazing.

I'll turn on anybody I don't think is trying their hardest. He was getting praise at the start of the season for his work rate and how he was trying making things happen, now he doesn't even try. He doesn't attempt to run in behind the defence or make space for himself or his teammates. I made a comment in the match thread about how Enzo was trying to get a shot away and Jackson would just watch him. He should be trying to pull defenders out of the way so he can create space for himself to receive a pass or for Enzo to get more space for himself to get a cleaner shot on goal. This is all Jackson ever does now, he just watches players around him.

As for pre-season, I don't give a damn about it, it means nothing in terms of how well a player will perform. Kezman was brilliant in pre-season in 03-04, he was a rubbish striker for us though.

When Broja came back into the squad after so long out, he gave everything for the team, bullied the Fulham defence and even got himself a goal. It was infectious and gave the rest of the team a massive lift. That is the effort I expect from our players. This alone is why I would start him over Jackson, even if he is raw himself.

I think it’s obvious that he cannot play up front for us on his own. BUT I think with someone else up there to share the load he may come good

at the moment we just do nit have the personal to help him out

he looks mentally gone at the moment

He does, and needs some time away. As I said before pretend he is injured and give him time off.

Start Palmer up top vs Spurs and City and use Broja from the bench if possible.

I agree that playing in two man st system will help him but why do you want to change your system to make sure Jackson can play well? Jackson is not our best player.

Also Lukaku didnt want to be here.. the moment the goals dried up he start blaming everyone and said he wanted to go back to Italy.
