He had a few dodgy moments, especially early on. But I thought he did well overall. He is better in an attacking role
August 13, 20232 yr The proper football has begun finally, time for the players , the coaching team and the club to do its talking on the pitch ! And today they have done that, seen enough today to know that once Caciedo and a couple more come in we look like we could compete again at the top level. Every player deserves a mention for the right reasons today saw more intent that match than all of last season, fitness is back, feeling carefree again ! August 13, 20232 yr With Nkunku and Caicedo we win the match. We win the league. And we will the f**king Champions League. Come on!!!
August 13, 20232 yr Sanchez - 5 - Didn't have much to do, couldn't do anything about the goal but made a horrible error at the end that would have cost us if Nunez didn't have a Lukaku touch. James - 7 - Really powerful, outmuscled every Liverpool player that stood up to him and played some really nice cross field passes. Disasi - 6 - Really poor in the first half, like watching Koulibaly at times, got us back into the game with the equaliser and was a lot more composed in the 2nd half. Silva - 7 - Standard Silva performance. Colwill - 7 - Like Disasi, he struggled in the first half, but I thought he was our best defender in the 2nd half. Defended well and was excellent on the ball. Chilwell - 7 - More lively in the 2nd half, a poor touch when he got in on goal though. Gallagher - 7 - Worked his socks off defensively and made some crucial tackles at times, a lot of poor giveaways though. Enzo - 8 - MOTM for me, he dominated that midfield in the second half. Passing, touch play, movement, he had it all. Chukwuemeka - 3 - Never in the game, really disappointing. The only time I noticed him was when he picked up a yellow card. Sterling - 6 - Very good in the first half at times, but nothing would stick for him in the 2nd. Jackson - 6 - A mixed bag. Very lively, which is much more noticeable after having Lukaku, Havertz and Aubameyang play there in recent seasons, but his finishing was very poor. He should have won us the game. Subs: Gusto - 4 - Was a clear step down from James. Looked slow to react to things. Mudryk - 6 - Looked up for it when he came on, but wasted a great chance at the end to win it. Maatsen - 4 - Made us look worse. Ugochukwu - 5 - Not really much time for him to show anything.

That's a 10% chance at best, especially against Allison. His first chance, he should get on target but the best miss those.

The first chance he should be scoring. Even if the best miss them, they also know they should be scoring them. We can't make excuses for him, we need him scoring goals and as soon as possible. Can't be going a few months into the season with him on zero goals and bucket load of chances not taken. Edited August 13, 20232 yr by Scott Harris
August 13, 20232 yr I didn't get the line up, didn't get the formation, thought Colwill looked frightened, who plays a centre half who has been with us for one week in front of a goalie who hasn't played in 6 months, Silva a year out of date. Oh dear, oh dear. Then Disasi having looked miles off scores and starts growing into the game and we gradually find our feet as a team.......and.basically completely took over. Enzo was everywhere, in fact Enzo and Gallagher were the best midfielders on the pitch. Disasi did well, Jackson will grow into it more. Thoroughly enjoyed the game. Thought we were bolloxed for the last 5 mins which was a little disappointing and I am frustrated that we didn't beat them, they were there for the taking. Good start thought.

Given the current circumstances, I think we can be very happy with that performance. Take what you can get out of it, sh*t we didn't capitalise but if I were a Liverpool fan I would be fuming at that performance and worried about the season ahead. It's much better to be on our side. You are right and I'll likely feel the same in a few hours when the dust settles, don't think the elation with Chilwells disallowed goal has helped 🤣 I think part of it is I feel we really need to get that statement big game win as Spurs aside our results have been late Wenger ish in them the last few years.

August 13, 20232 yr Shaky start with the defence looking all over the shop. But fair play, they settled, grew into the game, and should have won on the balance of chances. Credit to Disasi - who started off looking like Bakyokos half brother - but grew into an assured performance. Sanchez - 5. Shaky at times, lucky with the chance he gave away (Mendy Esque). Disasi - 7. Poor start where he looked all over the shop. Recovered well, and looked assured. Goal was a bonus. Silva - 7. Still a Rolls Royce, did everything in a calm and Tiago manner. Colwill - 7. Looked exposed early on, but recovered well and got to grips with Salah. James - 8. Assured at both ends. Looked injured - lets hope it was a precaution. Chilly - 8. Left Colwill to alone at the start. Should have scored. But always a threat. Shame about the offside goal. Enzo - 8. Cracking little player - good on the ball, tenacious, plays for the shirt. Connor - 8. Thought he did the ugly stuff really well today. Was always there to break up play and pick a pass. Sterling - 6. Had a decent 20 mins at the end of the first half. Did sod all else. Bad decisions, and not impacting the game enough. But we looked worse when he was taken off. Carney - 6. Kept it simply. Need him to be involved more. Nico J - 7. SO much to like. Good touch, physical, strong, can pass, fast..... but HAD to score in the first, and shot ast the keeper when through in the 2nd. Could have been a match winner....

He's scored in pre season, at the very least at least he's putting his foot through them instead of trying something too cute.
August 13, 20232 yr Well for the first time in about a year I think everyone played well. Loving Enzo further up the pitch as I’ve always said he’s been wasted playing deep.
August 13, 20232 yr Sanchez looked okay apart from the massive mistake late on. I don't see him as our number 1. I am sure we will go after a new goalie. Gallagher is not a DM nor fitting for this system although he was pretty good second half. We absolutely need Caicedo or a dedicated DM. I feel we might still sell him if we break the bank for Caicedo. We need a better choice of AM's/wingers. Okay Madueke is injured still but Sterling and Nkunku's injury demands us to go to market. Olise maybe. Chukwuemeka was okay for me today. Pretty solid on the ball. Enzo is absolutely amazing player to watch. I am so excited he is playing for us. Pair him with a destroyer and he will score and assists to compliment his amazing midfield play. I feel excited about Chelsea!

And he still turned out to be a flop. Meaning that even if Jackson scored that second chance it wouldn't mean much but the first chance he must score any day of the week.

He can do it all but Gallagher offers more fight and energy which was cruical but I still don't see Enzo going away forward as often in a 4-2-3-1 formation or 4-3-3, Gallagher would have had a much harder time.

Messi can probably be the best deep midfielder in the world. Is it a waste playing him there?

I’m not saying he can’t play deeper. The reason we want Caicedo is to let Enzo play in his best position otherwise we’d be looking for a number 8 rather than a 6.
