August 20, 20232 yr The team is crying out for a bit of experience and someone to link with the striker we could have played another 90 minutes and not scored again
August 20, 20232 yr Well. Looking at the positives; great first half. Lot’s of chances. Chilwell looks good - as always. Raheem looked great. Plenty of negatives though… West Ham were clinical. We were - as usual - not. We continue seeing the same problem as in previous seasons. Can’t break down a low defensive wall. Seems as if we still lack creativity… Hard to understand with us spending as much as we have on transfers. Makes me miss a guy like Felix. Sad for Enzo to miss that penalty. Bad attempt unfortunately. Freekicks were all over the place - not in a good way. Mudryk. Oh my. Not good today. Doesn’t thrive against low-stranding defences that are packed around - or in - the penalty area. Wingback isn’t for him. Could really use a goal. Caicedo. I feel for him. Didn’t look ready. Slow in thought and action. Many mistakes and gave away a stupid penalty. Two people (Paqueta and Bowen, red.) bullied that right side of three-four Chelsea players. In that regard. Gusto. Ups and downs - but never looked in the game really. Highly out matched physically. But anyhow - well done to West Ham. Utilized their tactics and profited from that. Not the best beginning to the season but we move on. Edited August 20, 20232 yr by Hanzen

August 20, 20232 yr Why did we play 4 at the back nearly all pre season, look good doing it, then revert back to 3 once the season has started? I can almost understand it against Liverpool, but for West Ham?!

Some of these players we have thrown silly money at look terrible. If you think we can barely improve on last season then why did you want Potter sacked if he was (on that basis) achieving par?

He got his players to roll their sleeves up and make it more difficult for us and we ran out of ideas. Early days and this is a work in progress but we need a big reaction against Luton on Friday. Another weekend ruined........................... I think that is how we need to look at it Nibs. It was definitely a game of two halves. Lots of positives to take from it first half up until the point Enzo missed the penalty and Carney got injured. Second half was just a disaster.
August 20, 20232 yr I thought there were positives from the first half. Jackson, Sterling , Chukuwuemka and Enzo ( penalty aside, not sure he would ever by the penalty taker) all looked good and we looked positive and played with some pace and forward drive. Second half we shat the bed. Losing Chukuwuemka and Mudryk coming on meant we stopped worrying them on the left hand side and the Caciedo debut was clearly a shocker but he will obviously improve. God knows what happened at half time in addition to Mudryk coming on but whatever it was turned us back to the pedestrian team of last season with seemingly no idea how to create chances. Roll on Luton, six point relegation battle!
August 20, 20232 yr Lukaku everyone screaming for number 9…. you could be that number before you leave .
August 20, 20232 yr Best team won. Chelsea were bad. New boys, same old Chelsea. The nightmare continues! Edited August 20, 20232 yr by Ibby_786

The penalty miss changed the game and gave West Ham and their supporters a lift. We go in 2-1 up and I honestly think we go on to win. Such fine margins. They are talking on Sky right now about why didn't Jackson take the penalty? Get him off the mark - it's a no brainer. Strikers SHOULD take penalties - Drogba, Dixon, Kane, Fowler ....etc Hurts to lose to a West Ham side who must be pinching themselves after the battering we gave them first 45, but "sigh - that's football................"

Roll on Luton, six point relegation battle! Agreed. I think it started to go wrong with the sub of Mudryk for Carney. While the jury is still out on Mudryk, he is a winger and not a logical replacement for Carney. With Caicedo unfit, I think it would have been better to bring on Ugochukwu as the defensive mid and push Conor further forward. We seemed to totally lose our shape after that sub.
August 20, 20232 yr We've absolutely battered 2 teams. We've had dogs luck. Get behind the team. Be positive. We're going to do very very well this season. COME ON!!

Rough start again, played well couldn't capitalize when on top then slowed the game down to a walking pace and paid the price...Naivety all over the park for sure and on the bench. WH have improved somewhat since Potch last saw them so have to look at his selection although we have a number of injuries so he may have been limited.

If Potter was still around and had a full season, I would have us finishing 14th or 15th this season. You also forget that I said from the start I never rated Pochettino that highly.

August 20, 20232 yr We were well on top going in at half time. But that second half was a total disaster. Not sure what changed but we just looked clueless. Everyone just lost confidence. Even Poch seemed to lose his way and made some baffling changes. It’s clear we need to bring in an experienced striker. We can’t rely on Jackson all season and Broja is nowhere near the level we need. No point in having all that possession if we can’t put the ball in the back of the net. I’m bloody amazed we’ve spent all this money and we’re in this situation. It’s an appalling miscalculation.
