Mata unsurprisingly was very influential during his short stint. Mount was bang average league form wise. Pulisic, Havertz, and Werner were terrible league form wise. Ziyech and Lukaku were f**king useless. Would need to be here for a other 7 seasons to catch Lamps on goals, and 10 to catch him on assists. Assuming he can maintain such a high average. He has the talent to do so, but do we expect him to be here for that long?
April 19, 20242 yr We can add Willian: 237 games, 37 goals, 31 assists. 0.30 goal involvements per game. Edited April 19, 20242 yr by Backbiter

I'd say they paint a true picture in that he was never in the same league as Lamps, Hazard, Mata or Palmer (based on what we are seeing so far), but he was a very good player for us. Too inconsistent in terms of output, but certainly on another level to the likes of Pulisic and Ziyech. I still enjoy watching him play for Fulham (and was delighted that he flipped badly at Arsenal).

He wasn't the most productive player, but he gave the team a lot with his work rate and his elite ball rerention skills. But I agree... he was a bracket below players like the ones you've mentioned. They don't tell the whole story, but I definitely think he should have done much better in the goals and assists area. The guy had everything, which is why I was often frustrated that he had so few goals and assists. I remember there were times where Hazard would go a month below his best and he would get criticised for it. It always annoyed me because everybody kept putting it on Hazard to turn up and never go through a slow period when it came to goals, but the likes of Willian who's talent was exceptional, was never held to the same standard.

William was my least favourite player by some distance. He would play world class for one or two games and then disappear for a 6. It drove me insane.

Agree, but tbh, sometimes I think even Hazard should've done much better. And for me Hazard is the best player to ever wear the blue. But I thought Hazard had the ability to score just as many goals as Mo Salah but he never came close to those kind of numbers, he was in cruise control too much. You saw some games where he really wanted it and he would cut inside and score a beauty to win the game, did it a few times under Mourinho, then in other games he just didn't take the risks. I'm delighted to say it of course, but even Cole Palmer has outscored Hazard's best PL season in his first season. Edited April 19, 20242 yr by Victor90
April 19, 20242 yr Palmer is great but he has so much to do to eclipse Hazard. Will need to win a prem to even be in the conversation.

April 20, 20242 yr Palmer FC. If he doesn't score, nobody else steps up. We have signed a bunch of mentally fragile footballers.

April 23, 20242 yr So skysports worked out that, without Cole Palmers goals and assists, we would be sitting 18th in the table on 28 points.

I mean its a bit daft, are they just assuming without Palmer we'd be playing with 10 men? Someone else would be taking the penalties he's taken, there's likely 10 goals from someone else.

Without Palmer, how many penalties would we have won anyway? Literally everything changes. Have they never seen Back to the Future or any other time travelling movie? However, it is fairly safe to assume that without Palmer, we could well be worse off than we are, whether that's just by a slightly inferior goal difference, or even being in the bottom three.
