Laurence Stewart apparently convinced Winstanley to sign Disasi, so it's not ideal is it. The only higher up I've heard good things mentioned about, is Joe Shields. Bloom is the shrewdest man in football. He made his billions essentially from gambling but based on in-depth data analysis. He took luck out of the equation as much as it's possible to do so. He subsequently established a specialist company dedicated to in-depth football data analysis and the results are plain to see. Winstanley & Co basically followed orders.
January 28, 20251 yr Morecambe & Wise Little & Large Cannon & Ball .... Add Stewart & Winstanley to the list.
January 30, 20251 yr If they are successful at getting a few, if not all of these off the books: Nkunku Felix Disasi Chilwell Casadei Carney Am sure they will get a pat on the back from the bosses for the "great business".
January 31, 20251 yr They have to be the worst in the last 2 decades .. even the much maligned Micheal Emenelo got us better players and had a decent success rate.. the problem is I don’t know who is driving this Blueco or these two..

Emenelo was slated at the time though. For every Hazard, Fabregas and Willian, there were also a Cuadrado, Meireles, Filipe Luiz, Marko Marin, etc.... I think hindsight is always a beautiful thing, and in years time, we might be looking back on the golden era of Stewart and Winstanly, when the signed club legends like Palmer, Caicedo, Enzo - and turned a profit on duds like Sanchez and Jackson.

Casadei is on his way out, they seem to be nudging Carney to Strasbourg, and appear to have blocked Disasi’s loan move to Villa. Chilwell is staying put, Felix and Nkunku are in limbo even though they want out. They knew early Dec we needed a CF, a CM and a Winger but spent more time on press briefings than working smartly in the window. I don’t think Brentford would have turned down a £50m offer for Mbuemo if the offer went in early in the window. With him are getting a 2-in 1; competition for Jackson, and also a RW. Rayan Cherki also has a gentleman’s agreement at £19m which gives you a mercurial talent who can play as a RW or an alternative to Palmer. The £70m for the pair would have raised our roof and have us back in the mix. I have a sneaky feeling Utd are asking for Josh in part exchange for Garnacho. We are going to get our pants pulled down with any deal we do now.

From the "we are Brighton" site a while ago.. backs up your comment..👍 What Boehly and Clearlake have failed to grasp so far is that Jewell and Winstanley before him had only some insight into how the Albion’s algorithms and data analysis works. They knew what they needed to know. Just one man understands how it all fits together and works. ...Tony Bloom.
January 31, 20251 yr https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c20gkk6k1v0o Shame. It's also a shame that our sporting directors have never known the love of a woman and (ironically) are such pussies that they'd let a bunch of idiot/equally virgin venture capitalists tell them what to do.

February 1, 20251 yr Was looking at Cunha.. since we were linked - exactly the players these directors have targeted .. looks good often enough and a good player in. Lower level team.. but not at all consistent.. a squad player for a team aspiring for premier league at best.. our squad is full of such players - Neto Madueke Jackson CC chalobah tosin and all playing as first team players.. this squad ain’t good enough and for so much money spent what a shame.. sack these clowns

Brentford's isn't bad either. Unsurprising, Bloom and Brentford's owner, Matthew Benham, were once business partners before a spectacular falling out. Over what, no one has ever explained.

This is just my opinion, it is more difficult to get big advantage using data when you try to get elite talent. Our sd has been pretty successful with most of the cheap signing, the more expensive signing is the problem.

Data is most useful when identifying potential rather than assessing already exposed elite talent. Brighton's model has produced, amongst others, Caicedo, Mitoma, and Mac Allister.
February 3, 20251 yr I think this is the first window where I can't give them the benefit of the doubt, every Chelsea fan with a brain can see how desperate we are for a striker, but somehow a new midfielder, despite having 2 out on loan already, is the priority and even then these jokers have left it until the last day to try and bring one in. Utter incompetence. If I'm Todd and Clearlake I'm massively questioning why I've spunked so much money on players and my 'transfer gurus' can't sign someone who can actually f**king score.

If so i reckon i could buy a Brazilian teenager in their second division for 20m
