Chelsea v Preston NE (FA Cup) Sat 6th Jan 24 17:30 GMT

Seen 3 minutes of highlights now.

Lovely header from a lovely cross.

Always made up when Silva scores.

Job done, hopefully another home draw to a lower league side next, we need a good run in the cup, and to win this once more. Been too long since @Eight Timeschanged his name!

Well done lads.

The amusing thing about Pearce’s performance on COMMS tonight  - one of many - is that he instantly said enzo was way offside, only to be proved wrong. He also amusingly said earlier Broja should go off and sterling play down the middle. Don’t think sterling would have scored with that header if that had happened.

Spot on. His attitude stinks when he commentates against us. In fact his attitude is cr@p whenever he commentates about a bigger team vs a perceived smaller team. Perceived in his eyes.

I used to really like Pearce when he was a radio commentator on London or Capital radio. Nowadays he has taken over the mumbling bollocks reins from Martin Tyler and I wish that he would just commentate and not opionionate his way through matches. Personally I have now interest in what his opinion is, it has no relevance to what I am watching

I used to really  enjoy his commentaries on Capital back in the late 1980's,  early 1990's.  The phrase 'ding dong derby' will always stick in my memory but times have changed.  I don't think he's quite as bad as some now say though,  compared to some of his competitors at least.

But once it is there it is always going to be used for an offside check whether its 2m or 0.2cm.

If it is to be kept, and we all know it is, then I'd change it to give the VAR ref 20 seconds to make their mind up. If they can't be sure in that time then we stay with the ruling on the field.

I'd still get rid though.

nope - because all decisions that would rule against the like of Liverpool and UTD would automatically take over 20 secs - just to avoid the officials doing something that penalises their darlings.

Cracking goal for Coventry from our ex Kasey Palmer as well today !

The player he brushed off easily in midfield was Josh McEachran LOL. He's 30 in March - god I feel old !

He turned 30 last year. He is 31 in March! But yes how time flies. Remember him making that appearance against Newcastle in the cup at 17 years old and looking absolute class. 14 years passed. Wow.

To the game itself yesterday, first half awful. Second half good to see the team responded. Based on what I saw yesterday, would prefer not to see Gilchirst at RB again. Looks too slow for the role and seemed to get done by the Preston winger a few times. Could to see Broja improved second half as first half he was way off it. The whole attack was tbf and everyone improved second half.

nah - there are still

more correct decisions now than in the past.

There might be more technically correct decisions, but is it more enjoyable for us to watch? Definitely not, changes are supposed to make things better for the fans and VAR has made it significantly worse.

Just got to say a big shout out to all the international fans at the game yesterday, there were supporter groups from Adelaide, Melbourne, Hellenic blues, Swiss, Swindon, Finland, Malta, York... Chile, Ireland x3, Hasting, mid Atlantic and American southwest banners up in the west stand. Your tickets on top of the pints and pies cost must be massive... I salute you all fellow blues brothers and sisters.

Serious effort and damn glad we all got a result. hope you enjoyed singing "you've had your day out now F off home" 😉

Would love another minnow next round.

I remember he was good during our cup winners cup campaign on channel 5 in 98…his commentary on Vialli in tromso was hilariously good.

But he’s a right misery now. Kept saying how harsh the scoreline was on Preston as chelsea missed chance after chance.

but the reason I flagged his point on var was that he was moaning about it only to be proved wrong that enzo was offside for his goal, therefore actually proving why the technology should be there. That is not to say it should have taken three minutes to draw a simple line across the pitch.

The VAR guy probably realised he was onside in about 20 seconds, but spent the rest of the three minutes trying to come up with a way of drawing the line to agree with the ref and the lino LOL

Ah having to wait till just before Uniteds win tomorrow to find out the draw blows.

No Europe, no league challange, the cups matter as much now as they did back in the mid to late 90s again, these are our season.

Oh god, we’ve become Arsenal!

Home tie. No point worrying about it being a  top flight team. Villa doing well this season but rather then than City or Liverpool. We won't get remotely near Wembley if Villa at home panics us. Not saying it's an easy tie, just that it's definitely winnable and we may as well pack up and go home if that draw feels like we are hard done by
