Tosin Adarabioyo joins Chelsea

So now it's the price of the player, not the club hes signed from?

I must have missed the part where we beat Liverpool to the signing of Tosin and we were throwing cash at it like its Summer 2023 and caicedo all over again. I mean signing a player VVD for 75 million, Mane for whatever it was isnt really a great example, you'd have probably been better off using our clubs transfer of Gary cahill who we signed for 7 million from bolton.

If Tosin turns out to be Gary Cahill in disguise and he leads us to the same number of titles Cahill did for us, i'll be delighted.

But you would do well to remember the duds weve signed on free transfers right.. the sidwells of this world from clubs similar size to Fulham and Southampton... it doesnt always work does it.

Until then, or until he proves his worth in the blue, turns in performances with the heart of Cahill or leads by example like Gallagher, i think his aquisition is a downgrade on what we have currently. If we sell Chalobah to fund his arrival, that is also a downgrade on a player. It is up to him to prove us fans wrong and win us over isnt it? Im still waiting on half the players we signed for 1 billion to develop into top class players and push us up the table, signs of progress were there so lets keep it going for next season with the new manager, who probably had no say on this signing - so excuse me thinking we may have signed another dud until proven otherwise.

One more thing, we spent 80 million on a player who hasnt been able to leave an A & E department for the past two years. signed from Liecester... a club lower down the division.

Anyhow, back to work, enjoy your evenings.

A bloke who was very much a bit part player from 17 years ago is hardly a great example .

You're right.... let me give you some recent ones...

Malang Sarr arrived with Silva on a free.. one did well, the other not so...

Rob Green...

Will Caballero

Drogba from Galatasaray

Falcao

Danilo Pantic

Eto'o and Mark Schwartzer

For the rest see here. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-chelsea/alletransfers/verein/631

I think for the most part, our free transfers are usually for back up rolls as we can see above. I dont even know who Pantic is...

May I without getting my head bit off suggest they signed him because they lack transfer budget, until that is some Academy players can be sold?

Yo may and its a very valid point. Sadly, if we hadnt signed so many other players for eye watering fees, we may not have needed to sign a freebie. Tosin, i wish him nothing but the best, Will cheer him on at the ground, but 3 seasons in Fulhams defence hasnt hasnt led to an england call up or a multi million pound transfer and he has found his way to us. He's chelsea now.

In 12 months time, depending on how things pan out, he will be available to sell, for pure PROFIT. Until then he is FFP neutral.

If the aim is to sell him next season then it's better he goes out on loan to raise his value. No point in giving him all the experience at the expense of our first choice defense.

Silva - Legend

Malang Sarr - Dud, but we got a few half decent games out of him. His problem was his ridiculous high salary we put him on.

Rob Green - Fine for what he was

Willy C - Decent enough back up

Drogba - I would take him on a free now, let alone then. The mans a legend.

Falcao - Loan and dud.

Pantic - who?

Eto - 12 goals in 35 games. Including a hatrick in a 3v1 win against Utd.... Cracking free signing

Schwartzer - fine for what he was.

When you shop in the reduced isle, you normally get stuff that's decent enough for a dinner. Thanks for making my point.

Based on what I’ve seen of this guy I fully expect him to be back up, probably 4th or 5th choice depending on how Fofana plays out.

As long as wages are reasonable I’m okay with it.

Not sure what to think. I rate him higher than Badiashile and Disasi. Not sure I rate him higher than Chalobah though, a player I think Tosin will be replacing.

Glad to see the Clearlake Circus abstain from spending nine-figure sums so far. Not sure how much better he is than any of the other options we have (bar Disasi).

Also not looking forward to seeing the sale/s of Colwill or Chalobah. Have a lot of time for both of them, seeing their gradual decline in minutes over last season was disheartening.

and... go on...

? What do you mean. Do you want me to name the academy players that aren't all that. I don't suppose there will be many tears shed when Humphreys,  Burstow, and Vale are inevitably moved on this summer.

Colwill was injured, he's not going anywhere and will be our main CB for years to come.

Colwill was injured and Chalobah was getting picked in most games in the final third of the season.
