Other than Liverpool who's foot was off the gas and have completely given up after their title win, who did we actually beat that is anything other than the norm? Even Forest's form completely capitulated the last 6 games.

We should not celebrate the bare minimum. Maresca is a terrorist.

Southampton (relegated)

Leicester (Relegated) (narrow 1-0 win)

Spurs (fodder)

Fulham (last minute snatch and grab)

Everton (See Spurs explanation)

Liverpool (title hangover, have they even won since winning the league?)

Man Utd (See Spurs explanation)

Forest (form fell off a cliff, dropped points to Leicester lmao)

Lost to top 4 rivals Newcastle

Lost to top 4 rivals Arsenal

Drew to Ipswich (LOL)

Drew to Brentford (fair result)

Whatever , you can pick holes in anything unless we win the league. Newcastle and Aston Villa (top 4 rivals) both lost to the (fodder) on the final day whilst Chelsea beat another (top 4 rival).

No great Maresca fan and he’s made a balls of tonight so far but picking holes in everything he does is annoying.

Like with most games, tonight he still got things so horribly wrong to begin with. Only the quality of James, Colwill, Caicedo and Palmer saved his arse tonight. We need a better coach with more experience to get these players to realise their top quality. With this coach, they won’t learn much.

Luckiest coach in the world. Absolutely messed up that first half. James coming into that 2nd half to bring some strength and stability and Sancho coming on to do what neither Neto or Madueke could do and hold on to the ball changed things. Then Betis ran out of energy, Palmer was allowed to play and he took over from there.

Some of these players are not good enough, but there are a few here that are being massively held back by Maresca. Those players saved his ass again.

Unless we see drastic changes next season, I think it’s safe to conclude Maresca will only be the guy before the guy.

All is moot though if the SD’s keep doing what they’re doing.

Just answer the question, who out of the teams we beat are impressive?

Forest . The rest are in the decent category apart from the relegation sides.

That first half was awful - but we turned it around. Dread to think the criticism he was going to get if he lost it.

There’s a sense we should be happy and not be overly critical. Don’t want to end up like West Ham fans who are never happy.

Maresca and his football are hard to like…but he’s achieved his targets this season so let’s just enjoy it. It’s been a rough 3 years since Bohley etc took over.

What I figured.

Maresca - "I promise you, I would start Reece James every game but we are managing him. He is like Cole for us."

I understand what he was doing, but this is high stakes football. Sometimes you have to make risky decisions with players fitness. In the Champions League final in 2012, Luiz played with a busted hamstring. If Maresca was manager that day, he wouldn't have played him and we would have lost. We needed James today.

I agree, but given the level of competition you'd think Gusto would handle himself vs being the absolute clown he was that first half.

I'm going to enjoy the win and take that into next season, same as I did after the Europe League final under Benitez in 2013, but I'm still firmly against Maresca being our manager in the long run. Unless he improves massively as a coach, then I can't see that changing.

This is Gusto under Maresca though, who has looked like a clown more often than not this season. Has to be our worst player of the season.

Over the moon with our trophy win, so for me personally, tonight is not the time to think about his future. But I do agree that the team did not win because of him or his tactics tonight!

Just enjoying the occasion as much as I can, we've made history. Conquerors of Europe.

What is wrong with Chelsea fans in here, we’ve just won a trophy but u guys still hate on maresca. The guys done his job by winning the competition he has inherited and got ucl. Managers styles aren’t always implemented straight away so u need to give him time. This fan base is so reactionary and I feel for maresca because of this. I’ll admit the football hasn’t been the best thing I’ve ever watched but we have had a good season, I hope fans still give him time. UTC 💙💙
