Offers next to nothing I honestly think Guiu is a better option.Good hold up play, smart runs in behind, actually managed a shot on target unlike others. I like Guiu but he would have been bullied last night, he’s more of a Batshuayi-esque player.
January 7Jan 7 I genuinely think he's going to come good for us. His hold up play is very good, should have scored his first chance though.
January 7Jan 7 JP is the more skillful of the two and none of them seem good enough I'm afraid. JP has more skill, but looks slow as a snail. It's no accident Delap looked better with a bit of space today (against Fulham) for his runs once we lost a player and sat back. That was his ipswitch setup.
January 7Jan 7 Scored his first league goal. Probably should have scored two. It is better than nothng, but he has a long way to go.
January 8Jan 8 His last 2 appearances have been much more encouraging. Hopefully the goal will give him some confidence. He also did very well playing under Rosenior at Hull so that could help. Edited January 8Jan 8 by forbzy
January 8Jan 8 Fair play he looked a lot better yesterday. Not sure he is better than Jackson yet he might get there if he stays fit.
January 8Jan 8 It’s pretty incredible that when you ask a player to do what they’re good at and play to their strengths they suddenly look competent.
January 8Jan 8 Good game last night. Some really good link up play and decent finish for the goal. Probably should have scored the chance he had a bit earlier but moving in the right direction.
January 8Jan 8 Helps if he's allowed to play to his strengths instead of as a Giroud Mk2 which isn't his strength.
January 9Jan 9 The guy scores a tap in and suddenly everybody thinks he had a good game. This is the equivalent to Enzo ghosting in to score and everybody forgetting he how sh*t he was.The guy looks like he can barely control the ball at times.

Busier than previously but only marginally more productive, but a step in the right direction.

The goal was well taken, and he should really have scored the 1st chance, it was a poor finish but an excellently timed run.The last 2 games has seen him play to his strengths, and hes been very good and well worth a place in the team. shows how using a player in the right way, rather than the wrong player in a strict system works. January 9Jan 9 I’d like to see him a bit more selfish. Turns his defender and has a breakaway only to pass it to Enzo who’s shouting at him as if he’s going to be more of a threat with the ball when he can’t even dribble.
January 14Jan 14 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/01/14/liam-delap-chelsea-striker-no-9-curse-rosenior-carabao-cup/Nicolas Jackson’s disciplinary record contributed to his summer departure and yet Delap currently has the exact same yellow card rate per 90 minutes in the league as the Senegalese had at Chelsea last season. It took until May for Jackson to be sent off.

Discipline, dreadful misses, poor attitude / sulky - just not being very good in general.Think we missed Delap last night. He does need to tone it down a bit in some games and avoid silly cards, but hopefully he can ruffle a few Gooner feathers in the return leg.

Though in fairness his last 2 games has seen him much calmer, possibly because he was being used correctly and not being frustrated by an incompetent idiots game plan for him.

I'm rather hoping for roughing up a few Gooners if I'm honest.
January 19Jan 19 Did well to win the penalty - he was alert to the keeper's error and got there really quickly. I would have preferred if he had knocked the ball in but that's just me splitting hairs.
January 22Jan 22 Low cost transfer so low risk but he's not been an upgrade on Jackson. Managing to downgrade is impressive.
