So we play Stoke on Thames next, we basically need to stop their set pieces and should be ok.

But to do that we need to go away from this zonal marking nonsense, man to man, get on them and stay on them, give them no easy positions. I`m amazed teams still go zonal against them, just gives them the room they need to disrupt defences and keepers.

I agree, however an issue that we have is that we have a mixture of brainless and wimpy players in our defence. Gusto turns his back to the ball and tries to head with his shoulders, and both Tosin and Badiashile are far too slow. I actually think that Badiashile often bottles out as well.

If we go with Fofana, Chalobah and Acheampong in there (Reece James covering DM as Caicedo is banned) then I agree we should go man for man as you would feel that none of these will shirk their responsibilities

Let's say we go man to man.

3 cb vs 3 cb (I already include James)

Gyokeres vs who?

Rice vs who?

You don't want to ask your st or attacker to man mark, they are usually very bad at it.

So you are left with Cucu, Caicedo, n Enzo

Another pointless comment for the sake of arguing.

Regardless of whether you defend set pieces on a pure man for man or zonal basis every player is responsible for dealing with an opponent. Enzo Fernandez has even less of a chance of winning an aerial battle if Gyokeres has already had a two yard run on him.

The correct way to defend set pieces is a hybrid of man marking within an overall zonal framework, with some trying to create a safe zone and the biggest, strongest defenders matching up man for man.

But to answer your question, with the way Gyokeres has performed this season Cucu or Caicedo will be fine on him, and why would Rice be in the equation as he takes the majority of their set pieces.

Arsenal absolutely love doing dark arts, we need a striker who will give them abit of sh*t back. Delap is the perfect striker, he’ll wind them up and get in their heads.

A shoulder barge into the stands would be lovely too, or maybe the goal posts. Gabriel please.

After we drew 1-1 in the first leg in the CL against Arsenal, I was convinced we would get knocked out , I tortured myself with images of being at Highbury with Arsenal fans celebrating and gloating everywhere so I let someone else have my ticket.

Arsenal went a goal up. My decision was right.

We won 2-1 and went through !

James, gusto and Palmer are all doubts.

Rosenior said around the Charlton game he would not risk players if there was any doubt about them. So we better not see them play and have to withdraw them because of injury Ala Palmer vs united.
