  1. I think that's very harsh tbh, there's a lot we can critisise Poch for but not this. Learning another language as an adult is very hard (South America don't learn it in school or atleast didn't when he was a boy). I've tried stupidly hard with Spanish for the last decade and can't seem to break past basic conversation level, I'd give anything for it to be as "bad" as Poch's English.

  2. Its a huge dive, the only contact was because je literally kicked Neuer, the cheating little sh*t. Whats more interesting is why didnt Munich get a second penalty for the "miscommunication" hand ball.

  3. I was reading about Tommy Docherty's job interview for the Chelsea job in the 60's. Asked by Charles Pratt what he thought about the Chelsea defence, Tommy replied.. " A jellyfish has more shape " And that's exactly the description of our defence today.

  4. It really is a sad indictment of how badly things have deteriorated in the past few seasons. Romans departure obviously had a huge bearing on things, but I don't think we have been helped by all the hiring & firing of managers over the seasons. Short-term success, but no long-term stability and now look at us. The situation isn't irretrievable, but we are again at a crossroads where any more bad decisions on signings, appointment of coaches, could see us slip further. It's crazy, as I still hold that John Neal side of 83-85 with such great affection and for years thought those players were some of the best I would ever see at Chelsea. Then things changed and I had to concede that now we had players of the calibre of Cech, JT, Lamps, Cole (x2), Essien, Drogba and more recently Hazard etc, that none of that John Neal team would get a look-in. And yet right now, I would take Dixon or Speedie over Jackson, Nevin over Mudryk, Eddie over any of the current keepers and even Pates & McLaughlin and Big Doug Rougvie over Disasi, Badiashille & Cucurella (and needless to say John Neal over Poch!).

  5. Enzo looked mustard under Potter and mustard at the World Cup. Caicedo looked mustard under De Zerbi. Trying to figure out the common denominator for the point they didn't look mustard. Scratching my head on that one.

  6. I am glad that we have cleared out and pressed reset on the playing squad. The likes of Jorgi, Auba, Azpi (bless him), K2, Mendy, Ziyech etc were not the future - and we did the right thing in moving them along. I remain sad that the likes of Mount, Kai, Timo and Kante all left - but understand the rationale for each one individually. BUT..... Clearing out the old playing squad was only 1 part ( of 3 in my opinion) that needed a reset. The other 2 parts were the philosophy of both our inward transfers and also our playing style. Transfers: The owners have succeeded in moving us away from buying older, established players. Time will tell if it will be a success over the long term, but I am not sad or angry that we have shifted our approach to focus on younger, theoretically hungrier players. Playing style: This is the part where we have failed to evolve sufficiently. Yes we are scoring more, but the style is still the same. Slow and stagnant, passing it around at the back until the opposition get bored, possession for the sake of possession, pretending we are Man City - when in reality we are not anywhere near as good at that style as them. We are Chelsea - and we should not seek to emulate others. This is the 1 part of the 3 where we have not seen any evolution (or revolution) - and it is the sole part where the manager SHOULD be making an immediate impact. It doesnt matter whether the players are young, or new. We should be seeing small signs of progress, almost immediately - but we are not. And for this, I 100% blame Poch. Not the players. Not the owners. Only Poch. Oddly, we saw progress pre season - and then he sh*t the bed, and reverted to the old ways.

  7. No. Most fans always wants every f**kin one out after a bad result or two. Every single one. Now we basically did it and when the results are not there we find other colors and shades to it 🤣🤣🤣 what a sad bunch we are. Hopefully no one is offended by this.

  8. I'm rooting for Arsenal not to win it. Or City. Be nice for Madrid to further dwarf Liverpool's CL wins though.

I don't really get where the occasional red accent is coming from, but this is not bad at all. It seems okay to me, very few of the hysterical features like the train seat upholstery kit we had a few years ago.

  13. He’s even taught them how to fall asleep after the break, he’d fit right in

  14. I love Enzo. I think he's someone who will become a legend at this club. Caicedo let's see. I think he has the ability to do awesome things. But as everyone says, they need to be set up right.

  15. And already we can see there is a Chelsea defender deeply rooted in Maatsen!

  18. For FFP it doesn't work that way though. We would be able to see 100% profit on academy-trained players, but the others it will depend on amortized costs. For example, selling Cucurella for 20m will actually count as a loss for FFP, because we still owe more than that in our accounts. Unless we sell a player for more than the remaining amortized cost (e.g. David Fofana in your example) we would have to file it as a loss and that could lead to issues.

  19. Have Everton got anyone who's making their debut, or perhaps somebody who hasn't scored in about 5 years? If so mark them down to bag a couple of belters against us.

  20. No most fans wanted all the so called “ dead wood out” all at once. The phrase that kept getting used was “rebuild the team” or “ we haven’t rebuild in ages”. It was a stupid idea to think you can get rid of all those players and everything would be okay. I made that point i think at the time that we need to be slow. Your correct here.

  26. At least we were first (and second!) - nobody can ever take that away from us.

  27. Unfortunately so. And not just those results - we've been throwing points away all season long.

  31. My worry is that's if he's not bothered to learn the language enough for journalists to understand him in a press conference how's he supposed to get complex ideas across to a bunch of footballers?

  34. We're not planning to restart the squad every year. Next season the best players will stay in the squad. And they'll be available for the next 10 years. I think Poch is the issue. And if we didn't have Poch I'd think a goalkeeper and striker are what we need. That's all we need to become top 4 with this squad and the young players coming through.

  36. Aye, it might work when you've got Messi, Neymar and Mbappe up top (although he still finished 2nd with that lot) but when you're working with Wacko Jacko perhaps a different approach is required.

  37. The problem is we are still thinking in footballing terms. What if they're not. What if the model is financial and not footballing. Selling off assets such as Maatsen, Hall, Chalobah, Broja, James, Colwill, Datro Fofana, Palmer, Hutchinson, all at either 100% profit or at major increases on their book cost whilst having replacements working their way through. Its not football and may destroy our relationship with the club even further, but what if this is the model that they are working towards.

  39. I don't think the players are the problem. It is the system with the players around them. If playing Double pivot as we are, then it is criminal to then have disasi and cucurella as the wide players and connor as the creative 10.

  42. I must be in the minority, I hate Liverpool but Arsenal winning the league is the stuff of nightmares for me personally with the Arsenal fans I know or work with. Man City winning the league is the best outcome for me.
    1 point
  43. But ... the full backs for Man City and Liverpool have an average position that is further forward than ours ? So basically this is saying that Poch has our full backs more defensive than Klopp and Pep.

  44. What’s all this lark about Bads being at fault? Caicedo made a horlicks of the pass. Inaccurate, too strong and passed it to the opposition rather than a teammate - regardless of said teammates positioning. He knows it, we know it, Utd knew it, everybody knows it.

  45. We understand it perfectly fine, but I would still fancy Silva in a back 4 ahead of Disasi and Badiashile. Even if he is slower, even if he is 39. You call it suicidal, but how would it be any worse than what we already have? We are on course to have our worst season defensively than we have ever had in the Premier League. Disasi and Badiashile are first choice right now, but I wouldn't have either of them ahead of Silva, Colwill or Chalobah. I would take a fit Fofana over them right now too.

  46. I'd be fine if he played it back to the keeper in future. Take the no risk option. I thought the same thing when Robert Sanchez used to give away the ball with poor passes like the one against Arsenal. if you are uncertain take the safe option and welly the ball out for a throw.
    1 point
  47. You can make a case for Badiashile's role in the awful give away, but Caicedo had not business attempting that hospital pass. Either put the ball out for a throw, or play it back to the goalkeeper. If this was a one off that would be one thing, but he seems to make a habit of such giveaways.

  48. I know I'm going to sound like a bell end here, but football fans really are stupid. We're nothing but loyalist consumers, even when we're unhappy we'll still consume the product. Look at Arsenal when Wenger was in charge or when they wanted Kroenke out, they still kept showing up to games shouting about it like that makes a difference. No, what makes a difference is if you stop going and stop buying from them.
